Starting 2026 HOT: NYC Got Pranked on NYE + A Couple Stole a Live Lobster from Brooklyn

This week, New Yorkers rang in the New Year by getting pranked by fake Brooklyn Bridge fireworks, while a couple in Brooklyn casually stole a live lobster from a restaurant and walked off into the night. From there, things only get stranger.

Mae went to a Miami strip club and has thoughts, while we also get into raw meat leaking all over an airport baggage carousel, plants getting microneedling (science has gone too far), and a StubHub mix-up that sent metal fans to a Christian Christmas concert. Plus: shady political betting markets, closet clean-outs gone wrong, and a viral list of places women refuse to go on first dates.

It’s the first episode of the year — and 2026 is already doing the most.

It’s Been a Dark Week — So We’re Sharing What Brought Us Joy

It’s been a dark week, on the internet and around the world,  so we went looking for the things that actually brought us joy online.

We talk viral dances that briefly cured our doomscrolling, a man fighting off a coyote to save his chihuahua, deeply unhinged wedding traditions, British “Chinese food” discourse, why smart fridges might be a mistake, and the comfort of small, absurd internet moments when everything else feels heavy.

We can’t fix it. So here’s some  laughter, distractions, and a little joy where we could find it.

The Diddy Doc, Bonnie Blue Got Arrested in Bali, and This CEO’s Wild Interview

This week on The Doomscroll Diaries, we dive into our thoughts on the new Diddy documentary - the wild moments, the uncomfortable parts, and why everyone online is reacting the way they are.

Then we get into the story of Bonnie Blue being arrested in Bali, how it unfolded, why it sparked so much debate, and why this whole situation feels like the world’s darkest study-abroad cautionary tale.

And finally… we need to talk about THAT viral CEO interview. The chair bouncing. The pacing. The energy. The absolute chaos. We break down why the internet thinks he was acting completely unhinged and why this clip has everyone asking, “Is this guy okay?”

It’s messy, it’s unhinged, it’s deeply unserious - in other words, a normal week on DSD.

NYC Has a New Anna Delvey? Period Facials Are Exactly What You Think, and Campbell’s Soup Gate Explained

A new Anna Delvey in NYC? Period blood as skincare? Campbell’s Soup in scandal mode?

Yeah… it’s one of those weeks.
NYC is apparently auditioning a new Anna Delvey and she’s dining-and-dashing across Manhattan like it’s performance art. Meanwhile, the internet has discovered “period facials” (we’re sorry, but also… you clicked), and Campbell’s Soup is in full corporate meltdown after an exec called their products “sh*t for poor people.”

We break down the scandals, ask the important questions (WHY), and try to understand how the world got this weird

Doomscroll Diaries: where skincare gets feral, soup becomes political, and New Yorkers keep hustling in increasingly creative ways.

The Weirdest Email in the Epstein Files (So Far), Russia’s On-Stage Robot Disaster & Who Is Scott Kelly?

This week we’re breaking down the weirdest email to surface from the Epstein files so far (yes, the one causing the Trump–Clinton rumors), Russia’s AI robot that immediately collapsed onstage, and the Jonas Brothers concert moment that turned Scott Kelly into the internet’s favorite résumé story.

Plus: Disney Adult “man ears,” eyelid-flipping childhood criminals, the Jacquemus ad that unexpectedly made us emotional, and Coca-Cola’s cursed new AI Christmas commercial.

America? Not well.

Devastating News for Kim K’s Legal Career, Sydney Sweeney Needs a New PR Team, and This Wild Animal Is Attacking People in Japan

This week on The Doomscroll Diaries, we’re spiraling over Kim Kardashian’s latest legal flop, wondering who’s running Sydney Sweeney’s PR (because girl…), and trying to make sense of a wild animal that’s straight-up attacking people in Japan. We also get into the death-metal Miss Universe performance that broke our brains, Jennifer Lawrence swearing off politics, and why “Most Improved” might be the shadiest award of all time.

Britney Spears Deleted Her Instagram, Laura Freezes Her Eggs & Julia Fox Sparks Outrage over Halloween Weekend

Britney Spears has deleted her Instagram again, Julia Fox is making headlines for a bloody Jackie O Halloween costume, and Laura is deep in her egg-freezing era. This week on The DoomScroll Diaries, Mae and Laura spiral through the internet’s most chaotic stories — from TikTok’s emotional whiplash and Reddit redemption arcs to China’s new influencer law and Albania’s pregnant AI government official (yes, really).

They also check in on Britney’s vanishing act, unpack Julia Fox’s “art or outrage” debate, and share Laura’s behind-the-scenes updates on hormone shots, anesthesia, and what it really feels like to freeze your eggs. Plus: haunted house etiquette, ghost arrests, and an 11-year-old story that refuses to die.

NBA Betting Scandal, Britney Spears’ Breakdown, & a $4 Quadrillion K-Pop Lawsuit (feat. Van)

We’re joined this week by our loudest new guest host: baby Van. Between his surprise mic grabs and running commentary, we somehow cover the NBA gambling scandal, Britney Spears’ latest headline-making chaos, and a K-pop star suing for $4 quadrillion.

Somewhere between Van’s coos and the internet’s collective meltdown, Kristen Bell posts something that makes everyone groan. It’s another week of celebrity drama, international nonsense, and baby-powered interruptions on DoomScroll Diaries.

Louvre Heist in 4 Minutes, Trump and the AI Poop Plane, and is your Protein Powder Full of Lead?

Spooky-season chaos, anyone? We kick off with museum mayhem: the Louvre’s brazen 4-minute jewel robbery, a string of copycat heists, and the Mango founder’s death turning into a true-crime twist. Then it’s the “No Kings” protests and a truly unhinged response video (yes, an AI plane dumping poop 🙃). We unpack the viral clip of a streamer yelling at his dog (shock collar discourse!), a Twitch creator live-streaming her birth, MTV officially axing music channels, and a Consumer Reports bombshell about lead in protein powders. Plus: capsule wardrobes, egg-freezing hormones, clinic porn categories (you heard us), and dream jobs that actually exist.

If you laughed, winced, or texted “omg wut,” tap follow and leave a 5⭐ review. New episodes every week.

Taylor Swift’s Rough Week | Trudeau x Katy Perry, Eric Adams Chaos & AI for Cats

This week on The DoomScroll Diaries, we try to care about world news but… Taylor Swift’s PR machine is melting down again.

We unpack Taylor’s “I’m just a football girlfriend” era, the conspiracy that Travis Kelsey signed her Records, and her chaotic interviews with Jimmy Fallon. Then we get into Justin Trudeau canoodling with Katy Perry (?!), Eric Adams’ ex releasing an erotic memoir, Mississippi’s surprising literacy glow-up, Kanye’s new “world peace” campaign, and the AI that can now translate your cat’s meows.

Basically, the internet lost it this week - what else is new?

Kanye’s New Enemies, Britney’s Beard Era & That Dystopian ‘Friend’ Necklace

Kanye made a “Betrayal List,” and somehow it includes Hitler, Curious George, and his own daughter. We don’t know what’s going on either.

This week we’re talking about:

•Britney Spears posting a bunch of Orthodox Jewish men for Rosh Hashanah and just writing “I like the beard”

•The new AI necklace called Friend that talks to you like a therapist and might actually take your job

•Ice Cube’s tour bus getting bombed because people thought it belonged to ICE (yes, really)

•A guy arrested for “not having s**” on a moving truck

•Kim Jong-Un banning the words “hamburger” and “ice cream”

• Influencers renting fake private jets and buying $10K receipts to look rich online

• And a very bleak TikTok trend that might be the saddest thing we’ve ever seen

Basically: the internet had another meltdown and we’re just here talking through it like normal people.

The Week the Internet Lost Its Mind: Rapture, Foul Balls, $100k Visa Whiplash

The internet really outdid itself this week. A YouTube pastor swore the rapture was scheduled, Bumble’s founder is facing messy old allegations while pitching AI dating, and a Phillies fan stole a foul ball from a kid—only for the mob to go after the wrong woman.

Also on the scroll: Bill Belichick’s girlfriend filing a Gold Digger™ trademark, an ex–NFL player caught in the most cursed elevator cam moment imaginable, and a $100k visa panic that had tech workers scrambling before the White House backtracked.

It’s chaos out there—luckily we scroll so you don’t have to.

Murder at Burning Man?! Cardi B Popping Off in Court, Taylor vs. Blake Drama, and Sydney Sweeney in Her Scooter Braun Era

This week on The Doomscroll Diaries, we’re spiraling over the weirdest mix of stories the internet threw at us. Burning Man wasn’t just dust storms and chaos - someone was actually murdered, and the rumors around it are getting darker by the day. Over in LA, Cardi B turned her $24M lawsuit into a full-blown circus, with testimony moments that felt more like a reality show than a courtroom. Then there’s Taylor Swift officially cutting off Blake Lively for good, which honestly feels harsher than any breakup she’s ever written about. Oh, and Sydney Sweeney is dating Scooter Braun now, which has people calling 2025 her villain era. Add in a little Taco Bell AI meltdown and Amanda Knox doing stand-up, and you’ve got the most cursed scroll of the week

We’re back in studio! What a summer. Why Colbert Was Canceled + South Park’s Wild Trump Episode

Stephen Colbert is out, CBS quietly handed Trump $16 million, and Trisha Paytas’ baby might be Ozzy Osbourne reincarnated. We’re not saying it’s confirmed… but we’re not not saying it.

This week, Mae and Laura dig into the Colbert cancellation theories, the real story behind CBS’s Trump settlement, and South Park’s latest Trump episode. They also unpack Huda Beauty’s full descent into conspiracy content, a dystopian new app that watches your every move, and the wild online reaction to the Blackstone exec shooting.

It’s chaotic, it’s questionable, and it’s exactly what you should expect from the internet right now.

We Break Down the Kiss Cam Scandal, Sydney’s Ad Mess, and the Worst App Leak Ever

Sydney Sweeney’s new jeans ad might be the most unintentionally (or very intentionally?) eugenics-coded campaign of the year and that’s somehow not even the most cursed brand moment we cover this week. We get into the tea app data breach that exposed women’s personal info, a Coldplay kiss cam scandal that cost a tech CEO his job, a WNBA campaign that sparked a very predictable backlash, and National Grid’s deeply confusing decision to hand out free trees to landless New Yorkers. Let’s doomscroll.

Greg’s Glow Up, Elon Musk’s Grok Is Offensive, and A24 Disappointed Us (again)

We’re back on Zoom this week Mae’s was on Cape Cod with her family, Laura’s dealing with hecklers, and Greg the cat just got professionally groomed (and immediately took a revenge dump). We cover everything from prison pregnancy “life hacks” to Lily Allen’s overshare about a thousand-dude sex tape. Meanwhile, Elon Musk’s AI bot Grok spirals into full-on extremism, spouting Nazi propaganda and sexually harassing its own CEO. Plus: a hotel handing out birth control at check-in, and a very unfortunate A24 movie we paid $19.99 to regret. Enjoy.

Jeff Bezos’ Tacky Wedding, Gen Z Interns Are Weird, and the JD Vance Baby Meme Scandal

Jeff Bezos got married and it was somehow both a $64 million event and deeply tacky. We’re breaking down the foam party, the Friday ceremony (??), and a wedding aisle carpet that screamed “startup office in 2012.” Meanwhile, Katy Perry skipped the wedding, but her ex Orlando Bloom didn’t — and yes, it’s giving drama.

We also get into:

• Gen Z interns and their lack of eye contact

• A Norwegian tourist deported over a JD Vance meme (yes, really)

• A Canadian lunch lady who hired kids to beat up a 4th grader

• Sydney Sweeney’s breakup

• Anna Wintour stepping down from Vogue

• And young people in China paying to pretend they have jobs (it’s giving prestige LARPing)

Bezos’ “Cheap” Wedding, NYC Dogs Get Legal Status, and a Contagious Disease for Newlyweds

This weekend broke us. Laura got hit with a foam sword at LARPing in Prospect Park,  Mae barely survived the NYC heatwave with a baby in tow, and Coney Island? An actual hellscape of broken glass, trash fires, and emotional damage. We recap our chaotic social calendars (why did we say yes to everything?), debate whether mental illness is actually contagious through kissing, and break down Jeff Bezos’ $10M wedding in Venice — private jets, Oprah, and protestors on inflatable crocodiles included.

Plus: a dog lawsuit that made us cry, AI layoffs that made us mad, and a foam arrow to the butt that Laura will never emotionally recover from.
