WELCOME to the second-to-last installment of our series, No Longer Strangers, our deep dive into Ephesians, the queen of the Pauline Epistles. In our modern world today, it’s normal to lie, steal, fight, get drunk, watch porn, act selfishly, and forget the poor. Our Christianity is about piety, not integrity. Filipinos are religious, not ethical. There’s a massive gap between our identity and our behavior. We see our old habits resurfacing, our sinful knee-jerk reactions reappearing, our old sins—sins we thought were gone—coming alive again. Reason? We forget who we are. The key message of Talk 5 is: Be who you really are.

Feast Series: No Longer Strangers | Talk 4: God Wants Real Unity
We continue our enlightening series, No Longer Strangers. Last week, Talk 3, God Has a Family, affirmed that we are not strangers to one another. Since we are all in just one family, does it follow that we are united? If you’re a member of a family, you’ll most likely answer “No.” We struggle through conflicts in our family. Talk 4, however, tells us that unity among family members is possible. How? The entire letter to the Ephesians has two parts. The first half—which consists of the first three chapters—explains our identity in Christ. The second half– which consists of the last three chapters—explains how to live out that identity. Talk 4 focuses on the second half of Ephesians. And the first thing Paul tells us? Our identity in Christ gives us real unity. If we follow Jesus, then we should be willing to sacrifice for our unity. The key message of Talk 4 is: Without sacrifice, there is no real unity.

Feast Series: No Longer Strangers | Talk 3: God Has a Family
We are now in the middle of our series, No Longer Strangers. Talk 3, God Has a Family, affirms that we are not strangers from one another. Every single human being has equal dignity, equal identity, and equal inheritance—because we’re all children of God. No exception. Even if we look at the world today, there is so much painful inequality. Which makes us think: “Maybe God loves some more than others.” Sadly, inequality is the undeniable mark of the world around us. But Ephesians says this is not God’s Plan. In Ephesians 3, Paul gives a summary of everything he’s talked about so far and then prays that we’ll be able to understand—just a bit more—the greatest mystery of all— God’s awesome Love for us. The key message of Talk 3: We are equally loved.

Feast Series: No Longer Strangers | Talk 2 : God Has a House
WELCOME to Talk 2 of our new Feast Talk series: No Longer Strangers. Talk 1 explored the first chapter of the Apostle Paul’s letter to the Ephesians, where he opened with a majestic hymn of praise celebrating the Father’s glorious Plan. He recalled how God wanted to bless the entire world, starting with the family of Abraham. Through Jesus, that small circle has burst wide open. What was once exclusive to one ethnic group—the Jews—has now extended to everyone—Jews and Gentiles alike. That means everyone can now belong to God’s House. Talk 2 starts the second chapter of Ephesians. Paul preaches the same message in two parts, with each part looking at the same story but using a different lens. The first part—verses 1 to 10—takes on a more meta view—retelling the entire history of the world from a cosmic perspective. The second part—verses 11 to 22—is more micro—retelling the same history of humanity—but from a Gentile vs. Jewish perspective. The key message of Talk 2: You belong to God’s House.

Feast Series: No Longer Strangers | Talk 1: God Has a Plan
WELCOME to our brand-new teaching series: No Longer Strangers. For six weeks, we’ll take a deep dive into Ephesians. If you were with us last year, we did a teaching series on 1 Corinthians, with the title, MESSY SAINTS. These two letters—1 Corinthians and Ephesians—belong to the same group of letters St. Paul wrote when the early Church was spreading in the first century. Some Bible scholars call Ephesians the Queen of the Epistles, the masterpiece of Paul’s theology. Ephesians declares God’s cosmic, eternal plan from the very beginning of history to its ultimate completion. And what is that cosmic plan? The unity of everything under Jesus. The key message of Talk 1 is: God Has a Plan.

Feast Series: The Good Life | Talk 8: Wealth and Worry
Welcome back to The Good Life, our teaching series on the Sermon on the Mount. In His Sermon on the Mount, Jesus said one of the biggest obstacles to God’s Life is our stuff. Possessions can make us feel secure, but Jesus offers a counterintuitive perspective on material things. Because things can become cruel masters. To be free, Jesus tells His followers to love God and love others, not wealth. You don’t have to worry about your needs. The key message of Talk 8: God’s got you.

Feast Series: The Good Life | Talk 7: The Prayer of The Revolution
Welcome back to The Good Life, our teaching series on the Sermon on the Mount. The Sermon on the Mount has 3 main sections. The center of this multi-layered structure is The Lord’s Prayer–which follows the two greatest commandments—Love God and Love your neighbor. This is the prayer of a revolution. When we pray The Lord’s Prayer, we’re dethroning ourselves as king of our lives, and we’re enthroning Jesus as our new King. Our God-mission is not to go to Heaven but to bring Heaven down to Earth. To expand the boundaries of His Kingdom in this world. Christianity isn’t the Great Escape–but the Great Expansion. Talk 7 explores The Lord’s Prayer line by line, and we’ll see how revolutionary this prayer is. The key message of Talk 7 is: Expand God’s Territory.

Feast Series: The Good Life | Talk 6: Habits of Love
We continue our Feast Talk Series, The Good Life, which centers on the Sermon on the Mount. As part of the Sermon, Jesus presents six laws from the Law of Moses: Murder, Adultery, Divorce, Oaths, Eye for an Eye, and Love Your Neighbors. Jesus pointed out the spirit of each Law. Last Feast Sunday (August 24, 2025), in Talk 5, we learned that to Jesus, the Good Life is about having peace in our relationships. Today, in Talk 6, we learn that He’s not yet finished emphasizing the spirit over the letter of the Law. Talk 6 focuses on what really matters: not how people regard us, but how, in God’s eyes, we truly are. The key message of Talk 6 is: The Father sees you.

We continue our Feast Talk Series, The Good Life, which centers on the Sermon on the Mount. Part of the Sermon is Jesus presenting six laws from the Law of Moses: Murder, Adultery, Divorce, Oaths, Eye for an Eye; and Love Your Neighbors. In Talk 4, we learned Jesus’ radical interpretation of the Law on Adultery. Today, in Talk 5, we’ll learn that to Jesus, the Good Life is about having peace in your relationships. The only way to create real peace in this world is when we treat every human being—including our enemies—as God-Containers. The key– disturbing– message of Talk 5 is: Love your enemies.

Feast Series: The Good Life | Talk 4: Lust Kills
We continue our Feast Talk Series, The Good Life, which centers on the Sermon on the Mount. In the Sermon, Jesus presents six laws from the Law of Moses: (1) Murder; (2) Adultery; (3) Divorce; (4) Oaths; (5) Eye for an Eye; and (6) Love Your Neighbors. In Talk 3, we learned Jesus’ radical interpretation of the Law on Murder. Talk 4 tackles the Lord’s radical interpretation of the Law on Adultery. It’s an uncomfortable topic but Jesus talked about it because since during, or even before His time, and to this day, Adultery has been a hidden worldwide pandemic. According to Jesus, the virus behind the Adultery Pandemic is lust. Jesus is asking us to fight sin, and when we do, it will involve a lot of sacrifice–but it’s worth it. Lust says: “This is your body which I’m taking for my pleasure…” But the selfless love of Jesus says: “This is my body, this is my blood…” Why did He suffer for you? His answer is the key message of Talk 4: “You’re worth it.”

Feast Series: The Good Life | Talk 3: Lord, Help me Forgive
Welcome back to our Feast Talk Series on the Sermon on the Mount called The Good Life. In the Sermon, Jesus presents six laws from the Law of Moses and then offers His radical interpretation of it. The six laws He picked on are: (1) Murder; (2) Adultery; (3) Divorce; (4) Oaths; (5) Eye for an Eye; and (6) Love Your Neighbors. We’ll be covering these six in the next three talks. Jesus’ take on these six laws was so revolutionary, and must have been surprising to His Jewish audience, who thought holiness was just about behavior. By picking the six laws, Jesus was telling His disciples that in this new Kingdom, the law wasn’t enough. God doesn’t want behavior modification but inner transformation. Talk 3 of The Good Life series centers on the message: Forgive those who do not deserve to be forgiven.

Feast Series: Who Can Lead Us? | Talk 9: God’s Unfailing Love
IN the past two talks, we sang the praises of David. In Talk 7, the young David fought Goliath because he trusted that the battle was the Lord’s. In Talk 8, David remained loyal to King Saul—even if the king wanted him dead. So, yes, David had a beautiful heart. But Talk 9, the last installment of our series, WHO CAN LEAD US?, exposes David’s biggest failures. David won many battles outside, but he lost one crucial battle inside. Still, David’s failures could not erase God’s plan for his life: To be the preparation and ancestor of King Jesus. The key message of Talk 9: God’s Love never fails.

Feast Series: Who Can Lead Us? | Talk 8: Surely, The Lord Will
Talk 8 continues the story of the shepherd boy David–how he struggles through life’s challenges, particularly against schemes of King Saul who is jealous of him.And David eventually rises to be King of Israel. David then asks God if he can build Him a house—a Temple—but God tells him: “No, I will build a house for you.” This promise is pointing to God’s Kingdom and Jesus as King. He doesn’t take the throne by force. He takes up the cross as He believes surely, the Father would raise Him. The big message of Talk 8 is: Surely, the Lord will!

Feast Series: Who Can Lead Us? | Talk 7: Fighting the Giant
We continue our exciting journey through three books in the Bible—Joshua, Judges, and Samuel, asking the question, Who Can Lead Us? Sadly, apart from Joshua and a handful of others, most of the leaders we met were pretty bad actors, including the current king, King Saul. How do you want to live your life? You have a choice. You can either sit on the rocking chair on your front porch, sipping your tea, watching life pass by—or you can be on an adventure, battling with giants for the people you love. Sometimes, we win. Sometimes, we lose. What matters most is that God is with us in every battle—and if He is—then, in the end, we have already won. Are you in a battle right now? The key message of Talk7 is For the battle is the Lord’s.
