The Flixters
The one where we review Good Boy and Good Fortune with special guest Jimmy

🎬 Get Ready for the Ultimate Genre Jump with The Flixters! 🤣👻

Welcome back, film fanatics! This week, we're pitting heartwarming comedy against heartbreaking horror in a cinematic showdown you won't want to miss.

First up, prepare for a shiver with the terrifying new horror film, Good Boy (2025). This movie is told almost entirely from the perspective of a loyal dog trying to save his human from a malevolent presence. Is it a good boy or a bad haunting? We'll let you know if this unique twist on the haunted house flick us had barking in terror!

Then, we switch gears completely for the highly anticipated directorial debut from Aziz Ansari, the star-studded comedy Good Fortune (2025), featuring the one and only Keanu Reeves as an inept angel! The plot involves a disastrous life-swap between a struggling gig worker and his wealthy boss—all thanks to Keanu's well-meaning (but inept) celestial being. We break down the laughs, the life lessons, and whether Reeves can nail the art of divine comedy!

💡 Fun Film Fact: Despite playing a character known for his Matrix action roles, Keanu Reeves fractured his kneecap on the set of Good Fortune after tripping over a rug! His director, Aziz Ansari, said the actor was an absolute trooper and kept filming most of the movie despite the injury.

🐾 Anniversary Corner: Loyalty that Lasts!

To tie into our dog-centric review, we're taking a nostalgic look back at Lassie from 2005! This beautiful adaptation tells the classic tale of a collie making an incredible 500-mile journey across the UK to get back to her boy, Joe.

💡 Fun Film Fact: The 2005 film marks the eleventh official movie about the famous Rough Collie, based on the 1940 novel Lassie Come-Home! Talk about a timeless icon!

And if that’s not enough entertainment for you, we’ve even thrown in new trailers to watch and what you can catch on streaming.

Press play for the friendliest film discussions this side of Hollywood! It's all the movies you love, the facts you need, and the banter you crave.

Don't miss a single review! Hit that Subscribe button, tell a friend, and join The Flixters family!

The Flixters
The one where we review Strange Harvest and A House of Dynamite

🎙️ This Week on The Flixters: Harvest Horrors, Netflix Firestorms & Fincher’s Sinister Classic! 🍿🔥🔪

Hey film fans! The Flixters are back with another jam-packed episode, and trust us — you won’t want to miss this one. We’re diving into two of the hottest thrillers of the moment and revisiting a genre-defining masterpiece that still haunts our dreams.

👁️ First up: The Strange Harvest (2025), a chilling new horror from director Stuart Ortiz - one half of The Vicious Brothers (Grave Encounters). Set in a remote farming town plagued by eerie disappearances and otherworldly phenomena.

💡 Fun Film Fact: Ortiz used real abandoned farmland in Northern California to give the film its haunting, lived-in feel — and yes, some of the cast swore they saw “something” during night shoots!

💣 Then we break down A House of Dynamite, the explosive new crime thriller now streaming on Netflix. It’s a gritty, high-stakes tale of betrayal, redemption, and one very literal ticking clock.

🕵️‍♂️ And for our Anniversary Corner, we revisit David Fincher’s Seven (1995), the dark, rain-soaked thriller that redefined the serial killer genre. Brad Pitt, Morgan Freeman, and that ending — it’s still as shocking today as it was 30 years ago.

💡 Fun Film Fact: The studio originally wanted a different ending, but Fincher and Pitt fought to keep the infamous “What’s in the box?” scene — and we’re so glad they did.

And if that’s not enough entertainment for you, we’ve even thrown in new trailers to watch and what you can catch on streaming.

Thank you for supporting us and we hope you enjoy the show

The Flixters
The one where we review The Black Phone 2 and Roofman

🎙️ This week on The Flixters: Creepy Calls, Criminal Charm, and Classic Nightmares! 🍿🔪📞

We’re dialing up the thrills and scaling rooftops in this week’s episode! First, The Flixters review The Black Phone 2 (2025), the chilling sequel that brings back the Grabber — and yes, those ghostly calls are louder than ever. Ethan Hawke returns in flashbacks, and the scares? You’ll just have to listen to find out!

Then we swing into Roofman, starring Channing Tatum as the real-life burglar who lived undetected in the attic of a fast-food joint for months. It’s part heist, part comedy, and all kinds of bizarre. 🏠🍔 💡 Fun Fact: The real Roofman inspired a viral Reddit thread in the early 2010s — and Tatum reportedly did some of his own stunts, including rooftop parkour!

For our Anniversary Corner, we revisit A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010), the gritty reboot of the horror classic. Jackie Earle Haley took on Freddy Krueger’s glove — and gave us a darker, more psychological take on the dream-stalking slasher. 💡 Fun Fact: The film used over 500 gallons of fake blood during production — and the iconic boiler room scenes were shot in an actual abandoned steel mill!

So whether you’re into supernatural scares or strange-but-true stories, this episode’s got something for every film fan. Tune in and let The Flixters haunt your headphones! 🎧👻

And if that’s not enough entertainment for you, we’ve even thrown in new trailers to watch and what you can catch on streaming.

We’re back with a double feature that’ll take you from the digital frontier to the blazing chaos of real-world survival! First up, The Flixters plug into Tron: Ares (2025), the latest entry in Disney’s cyberpunk saga. Jared Leto stars as Ares, a sophisticated AI sent from the Grid into the real world — and let’s just say, things get glitchy. Expect dazzling visuals, Nine Inch Nails on the soundtrack, and a mid-credits tease that has fans buzzing CINEMABLEND | MSN Rotten Tomatoes.

Then we hop aboard The Lost Bus (2025), Paul Greengrass’s gripping survival drama streaming on Apple TV. Based on the true story of the Paradise wildfire, it stars Matthew McConaughey and America Ferrera as everyday heroes racing to save 22 schoolchildren from an inferno Wikipedia The Hollywood Reporter.

We’re back with another episode of movie madness, and this one’s packed with mystery, mind games, and a dash of ballet-fueled brilliance! First up, we review Him — a psychological thriller that’ll have you second-guessing every character’s motive. Twists, tension, and a whole lot of “Wait… what just happened?”

Then we head into the shadows with The Man in the Basement, now streaming on Disney Plus. It’s a slow-burn French thriller about a couple who unknowingly rent out their basement to a man with a dark past. Creepy, compelling, and perfect for fans of quiet suspense. 🏠😱 💡 Fun Fact: The film is inspired by real-life events in Paris — and the actual building still stands!

For our Anniversary Corner, we pirouette back to Black Swan (2010), Darren Aronofsky’s haunting ballet drama that gave Natalie Portman her Oscar and gave us all nightmares about mirrors. 🩰🖤 💡 Fun Fact: Portman trained for a year and lost 20 pounds for the role — and she did most of her own dancing!

It’s explosive, emotional, and Leo’s performance? Chef’s kiss. 👨‍✈️🔥

Then, for our Anniversary Corner, we take a mind-bending stroll down memory lane with Inception — Christopher Nolan’s 2010 masterpiece that made spinning tops iconic and dreams feel dangerously real. 🌀💤 💡 Fun Fact: DiCaprio almost turned down Inception — until Nolan rewrote Cobb’s emotional arc to focus more on family. The Flixters
The one where we review Night Always Comes

🎙️ This week on The Flixters: Real Estate, Romance, and Rift Time! 🍿✨

We’re serving up a triple feature that spans gritty drama, dreamy romance, and sci-fi adventure! First up, The Flixters dig into Night Always Comes (2025), starring Vanessa Kirby as a woman caught in the chaos of Portland’s housing crisis. It’s raw, riveting, and Kirby delivers a powerhouse performance that’ll leave you breathless.

Then we take a nostalgic detour to Before Sunrise (1995), the film that made us all believe in love at first conversation. Jesse and Céline’s Vienna stroll still hits just as sweet 30 years later. 💘 💡 Fun Fact: The entire film was shot in sequence over 25 days — and much of the dialogue was improvised by Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy!

And for our Hidden Gem pick: Time Trap (2017), a mind-bending indie where a group of students discover a cave where time moves differently. Think The Goonies meets Interstellar — with a dash of ancient mystery. 🕳️⏳ 💡 Fun Fact: The film’s concept was inspired by real-life theories about time dilation near black holes — and yes, the cave scenes were filmed in actual Texas caverns!

Hello and thank you for downloading another episode of The Flixters Podcast!

🎬 This week on The Flixters: Thrills, Tape, and Time Travel! 🎙️🍿

Buckle up, cinephiles — The Flixters are back with a jam-packed episode featuring four wildly different films that’ll have you questioning reality, morality, and maybe your taste in vans.

First up: Highest 2 Lowest, Spike Lee’s stylish crime thriller remake of Kurosawa’s High and Low, starring Denzel Washington and A$AP Rocky in a high-stakes ransom drama set in the music biz. 🎧💼 💡 Fun Fact: This marks the fifth collab between Spike Lee and Denzel — their first since Inside Man in 2006!

Then we creep into The Man in the White Van, a retro-flavored thriller based on real-life Florida serial killer cases. Think Halloween vibes with a dash of true crime chills. 🚐🎃 💡 Fun Fact: Sean Astin plays the dad — yep, Samwise Gamgee is now protecting his kids from creepy vans!

Next, we hit play on Tape, a Hong Kong reimagining of Richard Linklater’s intense one-room drama. Secrets, betrayal, and emotional gut punches — all in Cantonese. 🎥💔 💡 Fun Fact: Selena Lee not only stars but co-wrote the screenplay, with Linklater himself as executive producer!

The one where we review The Long Walk and The Life of Chuck

Hello and thank you for downloading another episode of The Flixters Podcast!

🎙️ This week on The Flixters! 🍿

We’re taking a walk on the wild side — and the deeply emotional side — with two very different Stephen King adaptations: The Long Walk (2025) and The Life of Chuck. Tune in as we break down the brutal dystopian thrills of The Long Walk, where slowing down means lights out, and the tender, time-bending journey of Chuck, a man whose life unfolds in reverse and dances straight into your heart.

Expect laughs, hot takes, and maybe a few existential spirals as we unpack these cinematic gut-punches. Plus, we’ve got a fun film fact for you: The Long Walk was actually the first novel Stephen King ever wrote — at just 18 years old — though it wasn’t published until years later under his pseudonym Richard Bachman!

So, lace up your boots, grab a tissue (or two), and join The Flixters for another episode of movie magic, mayhem, and meaningful moments. 🎧💥
