
Selma has six years of experience in the nonprofit sector. She earned a Master's degree in Biology specialized in Protection and Management of Marine Environment from the University of Science and Technology Houari Boumediene in Algeria, received a certification in Leadership and Conflict Management from George Mason University. Selma is an alumna of Community Solutions Program; during her fellowship, she served as a project coordinator for K.L.E.O Community Life Center; a non profit in Chicago working to help eradicate violence by providing a safe space for youth to express themselves through arts and find support through mentorship. She worked on different projects to empower youth and women, Selma is the cofounder of the Algerian Youth Voices ( AYV ) the First English Online Audio Broadcasting in Algeria, and the founder of Community Leadership Algeria (CLA). Selma has experience in training engaged youth leaders who are committed to social change by increasing their sense of agency and supporting their civic engagement, Selma is also the General Secretary for the Alumni Steering Committee in Algeria, beside her social volunteering work Selma is into science, she won the first prize for her scientific research in 2016 at the International Congress of Marine biology in Morocco. Selma is currently pursuing a career in Corporate & Investment Banking after serving as a project coordinator for the U.S Treasury & the Algerian Finance Ministry. Selma worked also as a Communication Manager for a startup in which she designed a communication strategy for the company. Selma worked as an English Instructor for four years. Through these experiences, she developed strong leadership, strategic planning, ethical leadership and conflict management skills. She is interested in youth & women empowerment and community development, she enjoys traveling and trying new things.
