Pelican Blood is a 2019 German-Bulgarian drama horror film directed by Katrin Gebbe and starring the wonderfully talented Nina Hoss. The film was screened in the Horizons section at the 76th Venice International Film Festival and won the Méliès d'Or for Best European Fantastic Film.
There's plenty to like about Pelican Blood, from its serene yet gripping cinematography , its sharply tuned script and standout performance from Nina Hoss. Writer and director Katrin Gebbe has weaved a tale of family trauma, the supernatural and the emotional toll both aspects can extract.

Weapons (2025) is moving to become Zach Cregger's highest grossing film against the production budget, and for good reason: this movie is solid! Acting, writing, camera work, music, all high quality. John Brolin is showing us what he deserves to be in more serious-minded horror films like this.

Released in 1988 during the peak toy commercialization era Child's Play is a subversion of the nastiest kind. Up until now children's toys were largely kept innocent but writer and director Tom Holland had other ideas.
Child's Play was Tom Holland's second directorial effort after Fright Night (1985) and it was quickly apparent Hollywood had an elite filmmaker in their midst. Child's Play would go on to spawn a franchise very much mirroring the numerous ways our child protagonist (played by Alex Vincent) emulated his favorite toy, and Chucky would stand upon the great icons of horror.
The Activated Man is a horror thriller, written and directed by Nicholas Gyeney that deals with the loss of a pet, something many of us can relate to. Losing a pet can feel like losing a family member which is why the main protagonist endures a spiring descent into madness.
