    With half the WWE crew still overseas, SmackDown returns to North America by landing in San Jose.    Cody is in mourning or something to start the show. The WWE Women’s Tag Championships were on the line when Alexa/Charlotte took on Zolruca, with Blake Monroe sat at ringside causing some interactions. The US Open Challenge is back with Sami taking on Ilja Dragunov returning from a year of injury. We were repeatedly told he was hungry or starving, like WWE didn’t pay him while he was injured or something… Not like that’s ever happened. The men’s tag division resurfaces with the Motor City Machine Guns (celebrating their 1 year in WWE) taking on Los Garza. And our main event, was the Jacob Fatu and Drew McIntyre number one contenders match that didn’t happen. Jacob is in the back and appears to have had Danhausen come by, or Isacc Yankem. So we get Drew and Cody brawling and a “match”. The best part of this match was Cody losing his shoe.   I skipped recapping MFT in all the above because I’m sick of them. The rest of Solo’s crew takes out Sami/Shin. Tiffany Stratton and Stephanie Vaquer take on Giulia and Kiana James. You’ll never guess who takes the pin in this. The crowd eats up the Wyatt Sicks and Street Profit match, and post match more samoan interactions. And Alesiter Black and Damian Priest have a great Last Man Standing match. As we prepare for a trip to Australia, SmackDown tonight emanates from the city closest to Australia we could find, Cincinnati, OH.   We start off with an opening segment of Cody and he’s immediately cut off by Paul Heyman and the Brons. Randy Orton appears “Out of Nowhere” (see what I did there) to even the odds. Heymen is sowing seeds of discontent between Orton and Rhodes.   Backstage, we find out that Melo don’t Miz anymore.   As Melo tries to answer the US Open Challenge (again), Miz comes out and delivers a skull crushing finale. This allowed Aleister Black to answer the challenge. With Aleister having the upper hand, Damian Priest appears causing a distraction finish and a post match power-bomb through an announce table.   We introduce (again) new NXT members with Sol Ruca and Zaria being propositioned to join the Secret Hervice. This leads to a match between Ruca/Zaria and Chelesa/Fire.   Backstage, we get a cringeworthy Alexa/Charlotte interaction, with Charlotte trying to get Alexa to Woooo. Thankfully Cathy Kelly is in for the save.   Steph Vaquer and Tiffany sign their contract for Crown Jewel. After that’s complete, Kiana James and Guilia come out and setup a match for next Friday (morning) in Australia.   Ray Fenix has a new Lucha friend, with Je’von Evans. They take on Los Garza in a fun match.   Backstage, Damian Priest and Kit Wilson interact, leading to Kit Wilson crashing into clanging pipes. And Priest challenging Black to a Last Man Standing Match for next Friday morning.   In our main event, the Brons took on Cody/Randy. In the end, we get another distraction finish and Seth interference. Seth after the match wants to try to take out Cody with the stop. He’s cautioned against it by Paul Heyman. He does it anyway, and gets hit with a Cross-Rhodes for his trouble. Wrestlepoloza is over, thankfully. And we’re back with SmackDown. Let’s see how WWE can disappoint us this week shall we?   We start the night with Paul Heyman and Cody Rhodes. After some back and forth the Brons show up and a beatdown starts to occur. Randy Orton comes out to make the save, setting up teases of both Brons vs Cody/Randy, and an eventual Cody/Randy feud. Our first match of the evening is a Tag Team Contenders Match to take on the Wyatt Sicks. Street Profits take on Melo Don’t Miz. This was a good match and continued to tell the story of Melo and Miz not being on the same page. Miz jumps into match and Melo doesn’t break up the pin… the break up will happen soon.   We then get a Women’s Tag Match with Giulia & Kiana James taking on Michin & B-Fab. The less that can be said about this the better.   Drew McIntyre, embracing the show in Florida comes out spewing conspiracy theories and in a walking boot. Jacob Fatu came out and beat him up.   Match of the Night tonight was the US Title Open Challenge with Je’von Evans taking on Sami Zayn. These open challenges have been great matches these last 4 weeks. We nervously await Shinsuke Nakamura who is seen lurking backstage before the match. Maybe he’s next?   Our title tonight comes from the Damion Priest/Kit Wilson interaction backstage. I enjoyed this. Brad is fearful that we’re getting more Priest/Black.   And this is the point to turn off the show. Because the least that can be said about the Main Event of Tiffy, Nia and Jade the better. WWE begins the ESPN era tonight, and frankly, it wasn’t great.   This 6 match card was very skippable. And if you’re not in the US and watching on Netflix, you never want to watch a PLE live again.   We started with John Cena and Brock. Paul E is back in Brock’s corner again, and Brock destroys Cena.   The Usos vs the Brons with The LA Knight as special referee was a spot fest.   Stephanie Vaquer and Iyo Sky put on a hell of match. Booker T is probably reaching for a towel somewhere. The post match respect angle and Vaquer celebrating with her father was the second best thing on this show. Maybe the best thing.   CM Punk and AJ Lee took on the Pop-Tart Twins of Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins. This was an AEW tag match that made it on WWE TV. If you like tag wrestling, don’t watch this.   The highlight of the night was Undertaker announcing that he was inducting Steph McMahon into the 2026 WWE Hall of Fame was a surprising segment. I really want to see the view from the Gorilla position on this one.   The main event was Cody and Drew. Don’t worry if you missed this, they’ll be doing this match again in Australia next month. We start tonight’s show with Michael Cole being manhandled by Brock Lesnar. Before he can be slammed, with no Becky in sight, the chivalrous Corey Graves stops Brock. And for his efforts, he gets F5ed a few times. Do we see Corey back in the ring soon? To replace him, we get Miz on commentary.   Our first match of the evening is Team Besties vs Chelesa and half the Hervice.    Fraxiom were supposed to have a match, but Team Brons decided to cause another melee. This ends with Nicholas coming out and making a match between the two. A tuneup match for Brons before Wrestlepaloza. You’ll never guess who won.   Nia comes out and tells us she put Tiffy in Tiffy Time Out. And she would love to have Jade’s physique and Jade wishes she had her in ring skills. And honestly, I can’t disagree with any of this promo. With Tiffy and Jade both coming out. Another melee ensues and we’re now getting a 3 way next week in Orlando.   Our US Title Planned (Cause I refuse to call this open) Challenge match is next. Sami vs Carmelo. With his partner at ring side, thankfully we don’t have him interfering in this match.   In Nick’s office, Kit Wilson is talking to him about the toxic masculinity in the locker room. Drew comes in. Kit insults Drew. Drew throws him through a poorly constructed office wall.   And in our final segment, we get the contract signing of Drew and Cody. Guess what. You won’t believe this. But after the contract is signed, this breaks down into another melee.   At the end of the day, the hardest working players on this show are the backstage workers/security guards/refs in this lazy booked show. Brock Lesnar opened the show, interrupted by R-Truth, who comically claimed to be "Ron Cena" and tried to defend John Cena’s honour. Lesnar ended the segment with an F5 to Truth, ripping his jeans exposing his Blue Underwear.   Sami Zayn retained the U.S. Title in a fantastic Open Challenge match against Rey Fenix. It was a high-energy, back-and-forth contest that ended with a Helluva Kick.   Tiffany Stratton vs. Jade Cargill for the WWE Women’s Championship ended in a Double Countout after a barricade spear. Nia Jax attacked both women afterward, continuing to insert herself in the title scene.   Drew McIntyre defeated Randy Orton in a hard-fought main event with a final Claymore Kick.
