On this episode of Talking Guitars & Music News on JohnnyBeaneTV, we kick things off with a big announcement — we’re going LIVE from the Amigo California Guitar Show this Saturday, January 10th! 🎸🔥 Make sure you tune in early afternoon East Coast / late afternoon West Coast as we bring you the action straight from one of California’s coolest vintage guitar shows. Expect guitars, effects, amplifiers, friends, and great vibes. We were there last year, had an absolute blast, and we’re doing it again — live with you! After that, we dive into a real talk discussion about artists still performing today, including David Lee Roth. I share why seeing a show in person is a completely different experience than watching shaky cell phone clips online — and why so much of the negativity comes from people who weren’t even there. Concerts are about energy, connection, and being in the room… and that matters. Then it’s straight into the music news 📰 We head over to Guitar World, where 2026 is already shaping up to be one of the most exciting years in Fender history. Fender has announced a new CEO — so what does that mean for the future of this iconic brand? Guitar World sits down with Edward Bud Cole, and we break it all down. Fender’s new CEO is a true full-circle story. Edward “Bud” Cole — who once didn’t get a job at Fender out of college — has now been named CEO of Fender Music Corporation, replacing Andy Mooney after his 10-year run. Cole spent more than a decade leading Fender Asia Pacific, where he transformed Fender Japan into one of the most innovative and respected divisions of the company. He expanded Fender across 14 countries, launched the iconic Fender Tokyo flagship store, and helped redefine how guitar brands connect with players — not just through products, but through community and experience. He’s also a working musician, songwriter, and former touring artist, which gives him a player-first perspective. Cole says 2026 will be one of the most exciting years in Fender’s history, with major announcements, innovation, and global expansion ahead. The year also marks Fender’s 80th anniversary, plus 75 years of the Telecaster and Precision Bass, with special limited-edition models planned. Looking forward, Cole sees a bigger role for flagship stores, live music events, AI tools for learning and creativity, and pushing Fender Japan–style innovation into the global lineup — all while keeping guitars accessible to new players. Bottom line: Fender is betting on innovation, community, and the power of music, and Bud Cole believes it all starts with one thing — people picking up a guitar to express what’s in their hearts and heads. 🎸🤘 Finally, we hit the guitar workbench 🔧 I clean up a Squier guitar, throw on fresh strings, and get it ready for bigger changes. And this Friday, we take it even further — swapping pickup covers, possibly changing a pickup, and continuing the mod journey live. 🔥 Every Week on Johnny Beane TV — Your Ultimate Guitar Hangout! ⚡ Epic Guitar & Gear Unboxings 🔧 Mod Tips, Pro Tricks & DIY Hacks 🎤 Live Q&As with Players Worldwide 🚨 Breaking Gear News, Leaks & First Looks 🎸 Guitar Stories, Artist Access & Backstage Vibes 🎁 Surprise Giveaways You Don’t Want to Miss 👍 Smash that LIKE 🔔 Hit SUBSCRIBE 💬 Drop a comment — You’re part of the crew! 🎥 Want Your Stream to Look Pro? 👉 StreamYard: https://streamyard.com/pal/d/4906555367489536

🔥 Exclusively Van Halen LIVE! — 1984 Anniversary Celebration + VH NEWS 🎸🤘 #vanhalen 1/9/26
1984 (stylized in Roman numerals as MCMLXXXIV) is the sixth studio album by American rock band Van Halen, released on January 9, 1984.[2] It was the last Van Halen studio album until A Different Kind of Truth (2012) to feature lead singer David Lee Roth, who left the band in 1985 following creative differences. This is the final full-length album to feature all four original members (Van Halen brothers, Roth, and Michael Anthony), although they reunited briefly in 2000 to start work on what would much later become 2012's A Different Kind of Truth.[3] Roth returned in 2007, but Eddie's son Wolfgang replaced Anthony in 2006.[2] 1984 and Van Halen's debut are Van Halen's best-selling albums, each having sold more than 10 million copies in the United States.[4] 1984 was well received by music critics. Rolling Stone ranked the album number 81 on its list of the 100 Greatest Albums of the 1980s. It reached number two on the Billboard 200 and remained there for five weeks, kept off the top spot by Michael Jackson's Thriller, on which guitarist Eddie Van Halen made a guest performance. 1984 produced four singles, including "Jump", Van Halen's only number-one single on the Billboard Hot 100; the top-20 hits "Panama" and "I'll Wait"; and the MTV favorite "Hot for Teacher". The album was certified Diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in 1999, signifying ten million shipped copies in the U.S. 1984 track listing Side one No. Title Length 1. Exclusively Van Halen: GENE SIMMONS Claims #EDDIEVANHALEN Considered Joining KISS in 1982 🤘🔥1/4/26
🎥 Exclusively Van Halen is your ultimate destination for everything Van Halen — from deep dives into the band’s history and music to rare stories, insider trivia, and special moments. Whether you’ve been rocking since the Roth era or jumped on board during the Hagar years, this is where fans come together to celebrate the sound, spirit, and innovation of Van Halen. 🎸 We talk ALL things Van Halen right here on Exclusively Van Halen — only on Johnny Beane TV! KISS bassist and co-founder Gene Simmons has revealed that Eddie Van Halen once seriously considered joining KISS during a volatile period in Van Halen’s history — and that Simmons himself talked the guitar icon out of it. Simmons, one of Van Halen’s earliest champions, played a pivotal role in the band’s rise. He famously discovered the group in 1976 after wandering into a show at Los Angeles’ Starwood club, an experience he later described as leaving him “incredulous.” Soon after, Simmons produced Van Halen’s legendary Zero demo, which featured early versions of future classics like “Runnin’ With the Devil” and “House of Pain.” Despite his enthusiasm, Simmons eventually stepped back from producing or managing the band due to resistance from Paul Stanley, manager Bill Aucoin, and his existing commitments to KISS. However, according to Simmons, the paths of KISS and Van Halen nearly intersected again in 1982, as KISS were recording Creatures of the Night following the departure of guitarist Ace Frehley. In a December 29 interview with MusicRadar, Simmons recalled receiving a call from Eddie Van Halen during the Diver Down era, when tensions with David Lee Roth were escalating. “Eddie told me, ‘Roth is driving me nuts. I can’t take it. I gotta leave. I know you’re looking for a lead guitar player. Do you want me in the band?’” Simmons said. Eddie soon drove over to the studio — a trip Simmons jokingly described as terrifying, thanks to Van Halen’s doorless Jeep and aggressive driving. After grabbing lunch, Eddie listened to KISS’s new material and reacted enthusiastically. “He heard some of the tracks and was like, ‘Oh, I really like that!’” Simmons recalled. Despite the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, Simmons says he advised Eddie not to join KISS, believing Van Halen was fundamentally built around his guitar playing. “I told him, ‘A band is worse than a marriage,’” Simmons said. “‘But with Van Halen, everything begins and ends with you — it’s all about the guitar.’” Simmons compared Eddie’s role in Van Halen to Jimmy Page in Led Zeppelin and even to Jimi Hendrix, arguing that there simply wouldn’t be room for him in KISS. “It would be like putting Jeff Beck or Hendrix in AC/DC,” Simmons explained. “Eddie would have taken over.” Looking back, Simmons believes he made the right decision — even if it meant Van Halen eventually parting ways with Roth. The band went on to release 1984, their final album with Roth, before entering the Sammy Hagar era and reaching even greater commercial success. “I love Roth — that’s still my favorite era of Van Halen,” Simmons said. “But you can get another lead singer. When Hagar joined, they became a bigger band.” Simmons compared the situation to AC/DC’s rise after the loss of Bon Scott. “That idea that you can’t lose the lead singer?” he concluded. “Actually, you can.” #ExclusivelyVanHalen #JohnnyBeaneTV #EddieVanHalen #KISS #GeneSimmons

STRATURDAY NIGHT 🎸 Van Halen Guitars, Live Show Clips, Steve Vai & AI Music #StraturdayNight 1/3/26
On this episode, we kick things off with a big announcement — we’re going LIVE from the Amigo Guitar Show in San Rafael, California! 🎸 That’s coming up earlier in the day, so make sure it’s on your calendar and don’t miss it. From there, the chat throws out a great question about Van Halen guitars, and we dive deep into the legendary Frankenstein, Wolfgangs, and what makes those guitars so iconic. That discussion leads perfectly into some live performance footage from a show I played back in 2010 at the Brava Theater in San Francisco, where I was rocking a very Van Halen–inspired guitar. I share some clips and memories from what was an incredible night. https://youtu.be/I2UeKJ8j16o?si=Sg7c1h6LfBhJCfpK Then we shift into some real-world music talk — playing in bands, gigs, and life as a musician — including a fun look back at a New Year’s party in Santa Cruz from just last week. Next up, we crack open the Steve Vai book Wire and Wood: The Guitars of Steve Vai, flipping through pages and talking about the instruments, the artistry, and why this book is such a must-have for guitar fans. We also dig into a timely conversation about AI and music, including Suno and its new deal with Warner Music Group — what it means, why it matters, and how AI could shape the future of music creation. And to wrap things up, I share live footage from a 2022 show in Oakland, California, with our friend Music Therapy LAZ in the house — great vibes, great music, and a perfect way to close out the episode. https://www.youtube.com/live/CGg5c7UbXUg?si=43sDQZeRdVeLJ3VH https://www.youtube.com/live/K3aktMJ6HNQ?si=ePTyvI-WAp51WNGM 👇 Jump in, hang out, and enjoy the ride! Talking Guitars: Ace Frehley Reveals the Truth Behind a Classic Kiss Solo, Strat Build.🎸🔥12/26/25
On this episode of Talking Guitars, we kick things off with rock talk and six-string legends 🤘 An archival interview with Ace Frehley has resurfaced, revealing that one of his most iconic Kiss guitar solos wasn’t actually written by him. Ace credits legendary producer Bob Ezrin with coming up with the melody for the solo on “Detroit Rock City.” Ezrin, famously described by Alice Cooper as his band’s unofficial sixth member, brought a disciplined, hands-on approach to Kiss during the Destroyer sessions. Ace recalled that Ezrin added a cohesiveness and musical depth the band hadn’t had before, pushing them through long rehearsals until the songs became second nature. “Bob’s the one that came up with the solo — I didn’t write that,” Frehley admitted. “He had great ideas, and we executed them the way he wanted.” Paul Stanley later revealed the emotional inspiration behind “Detroit Rock City,” explaining that the song was influenced by a fan who died in a car accident while traveling to a Kiss show — turning the track into both a tribute to Detroit and a memorial. From there, we roll into exclusive throwback footage from the Amigo Guitar Show, hanging with Bay Area Rich — and yes, we’re heading back again early next month, with a LIVE stream straight from the show 📺🔥 Next up, it’s hands-on at the workbench as I continue assembling a Stratocaster, walking you through the build step by step. We also take a moment to honor a true music icon 🖤🎶 Perry Bamonte, longtime guitarist and keyboardist for The Cure, has passed away at age 65. Known affectionately as “Teddy,” Bamonte joined The Cure as a roadie and guitar tech before becoming a full member in 1990. He played on classic albums including Wish, Wild Mood Swings, and Bloodflowers, performed over 400 shows, and contributed to songs like “Friday I’m in Love,” “High,” and “A Letter to Elise.” Bamonte was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with The Cure in 2019 and rejoined the band in 2022 for another run of unforgettable shows, culminating in London’s Show of a Lost World in November 2024. We wrap things up back at the bench — the guitar build is finished except for strings, which will go on Straturday Night this Saturday 🎸⚡ 🎸 TALKING GUITARS: Music & Guitar News LIVE! 🤘 Join us LIVE for another epic Workbench LIVE Stream — we’re talking guitars, gear, tone & mods, plus the latest music and guitar news from around the world! 🎶 👇 Tune in LIVE, jump in the chat, and let’s talk guitars! Exclusively Van Halen: 🔥 UNHEARD Van Halen 1983 Soundboard Soundcheck! EVH Jams! 12/25/25
🎄 A Van Halen Christmas Surprise! 🎄 On this episode of Exclusively Van Halen here on Johnny Beane TV, we dive deep into a newly uploaded and extremely rare recording from the Music Media Archives YouTube channel — an uncirculated Van Halen soundboard tape captured during a 1983 South American soundcheck. Pulled from legendary sound engineer Roy’s personal collection, this tape was sadly left unlabeled, but clues throughout both sides strongly point to an early-1983 South American stop on the tour. The recording is paused and restarted multiple times, giving us a fascinating, fly-on-the-wall look at Van Halen in pure creative mode. This isn’t just a casual listen — it’s a dense, detail-packed snapshot of the band working things out in real time. Dave is mostly absent early on, popping in occasionally to talk, joke, and later sing, while the bulk of the tape features Eddie, Alex, and Michael Anthony jamming, experimenting, and locking in grooves. Among the many highlights: Jam-based takes on Wild Thing, Since I’ve Been Loving You, and Crossroads A funky jam that morphs into Eddie teasing Another One Bites The Dust Mike kicking off In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida before a tune-up stops the fun Nearly complete instrumental performances of Sinner’s Swing and Hear About It Later An early, embryonic version of Panama, showing just how far along the song already was in early ’83 Eddie solo for nearly 10 minutes, noodling, experimenting, and even dipping into The Munsters theme and the main riff of Beat It — especially cool considering Eddie’s iconic solo on the final track Dave returns later with classic Roth humor, bizarre commentary, and vocal warmups, before delivering the only full vocal performances on the tape: 🎤 You Can’t Do That (The Beatles) 🎤 A partial Little Dreamer, stopped mid-song with Dave admitting he’s been making up the words The tape closes perfectly with Dave declaring, “Roy, we’re done,” and Roy replying, “OK.” This is Van Halen raw, loose, funny, experimental, and brilliant — the kind of archival gem fans dream about. 🎧 Track Listing: 01 Jam I 02 Jam II / Wild Thing 03 Jam III / Funky 04 Panama 05 Since I’ve Been Loving You / Funky Queen 06 Blues Jam / Heartbreak Hotel 07 Jam IV / In A Gadda Da Vida 08 Take Your Whiskey Home 09 Sinner’s Swing! 10 Hear About It Later 11 Jam V / Romeo Delight 12 Crossroads 13 Jam VI (Side B) 14 Guitar Noodling / Munsters Theme / Beat It 15 Interlude 16 Jam VII / Girl Gone Bad / Drums 17 Runnin’ With The Devil / Vocal Warmup 18 You Can’t Do That 19 Little Dreamer 📼 Lineage: Maxell UDXL-I C-90 → Nakamichi DR-1 → Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi HD → FLAC #VanHalen #ExclusivelyVanHalen #EddieVanHalen #VanHalenBootleg #VanHalenLive #VanHalenArchive #DavidLeeRoth #MichaelAnthony #AlexVanHalen #JohnnyBeaneTV

Talking Guitars: Can a P90 Beat a Humbucker? 🛠️ 🎸Squier Fat Cat P90 vs Humbucker A/B 12/24/25
On this episode of Talking Guitars on Johnny Beane TV, we kick things off by A/B-ing two nearly identical Squier Strat-style guitars — one loaded with a Seymour Duncan Fat Cat P90 in the bridge, and the other with a Seymour Duncan humbucker. Same guitars, different pickups… and WOW, they each bring their own unique vibe and tone. We then continue the project from yesterday, diving deeper into the Squier Strat with the Seymour Duncan Fat Cat P90. All the wiring and installation were handled off-camera before the show, so we jump straight into playing, tone talk, and real-world impressions. I did notice the volume pot was a little touchy, so I worked around it using a volume pedal during the session. Along the way, we swap between a few other guitars — including a couple more Squiers and the Kramer equipped with a Vega Trem and the killer Holoflash finish. Huge thanks once again to Ron for the incredible paint job — it looks absolutely amazing! If you love pickup comparisons, guitar mods, real tone talk, and live gear switching, this episode is for you. 🛠️ 🎸 Talking Guitars: Adam the Woo Tribute, KISS band Future & Squier Strat Mods 12/23/25 🎸
This episode kicks off on a personal note as I pay tribute to Adam the Woo — sharing with Ron and the chat how his videos inspired my own journey into content creation and what his work still means to me today. We dive into some powerful moments from Adam’s travels, including his visits to Randy Rhoads’ grave and the Randy Rhoads plane crash site — must-see spots for any rock fan. From there, it’s music news, breaking down a story about KISS, Kiss may be finished with touring, but guitarist Tommy Thayer says the band’s story isn’t over yet. Following their recent appearances at the Kiss Kruise event in Las Vegas, Thayer told MusicRadar that the shows were a success and hinted at more to come. “Fan events like this are great, and we’ll probably do more,” Thayer said, adding that it felt natural playing together again after nearly two years. While full tours are off the table, he teased that “there’s a lot in the works” behind the scenes. Thayer also didn’t rule out new music, saying the band still has “a lot of great ideas and a desire to keep creating.” He pointed to Kiss’s avatar project as an example of how the band is embracing new technology and future possibilities. Thayer joined Kiss full-time in 2002 after Ace Frehley’s departure and remained with the band through their final tour, which ended at Madison Square Garden in 2023. Although Frehley and drummer Peter Criss were originally expected to appear at the farewell show, those plans ultimately fell through. 🎸 Straturday Night: Workbench Mods, Wild Pedals & Writing Music Live! 🎸🔥 12/20/25
On this episode of Straturday Night, we kicked things off by diving deep into the music business, sharing real-world experiences from playing in bands, touring, and working inside the recording studio. From there, we took it straight to the workbenches. Ron got hands-on with his Charvel, installing a Lollar Pickup in the neck position—after already dropping one into the bridge on a previous show. Meanwhile, I gave one of my Stratocasters a subtle but classy upgrade, swapping the white single-coil pickup covers for parchment. And yeah… I’m officially hooked on the parchment look. Once the mods were done, it was time to plug in and play. I demoed a handful of pedals, starting with the ZVEX Instant Lo-Fi Junky, delivering those beautifully warbly, lo-fi textures—almost chorus-like, but with its own quirky vibe. Next up was my favorite fuzz of all time, the ZVEX Fuzz Factory, bringing the chaos, sustain, and raw attitude. I also spent some time getting weird—in the best way—with my BOSS PC-2 Percussion Synthesizer, and wow, this pedal is a trip. It’s a seriously interesting early ’80s unit that delivers a wide range of highly adjustable, synth-like percussion sounds that instantly bring to mind classic Atari video games and old-school arcade vibes. Super retro, super quirky, and unlike just about anything else on a pedalboard today. It added a totally unexpected, nostalgic twist to the jams and showed just how far ahead of its time this pedal really was. 🎮🎸🔥 From there, I fired up the Lekato Looper & Drum Pedal, and that’s where things really took off. Layer by layer, I built a groove and ended up writing a brand-new piece of music live on the show, jamming it out and letting it evolve right up to the final moments. Gear, tone, stories, and a fresh riff born in real time—Straturday Night at its best. 🎸🔥 Join us LIVE tonight for the ultimate interactive guitar project. 🛠️ Talking Guitars: Höfner News, Workbench Mods & Guitar Jams 🎸#guitarlivestream 12/19/25
🎸 On this episode of Talking Guitars, we kick things off with some major guitar-world news — Höfner, the legendary instrument maker behind Paul McCartney’s iconic violin bass, has reportedly filed for bankruptcy. What does this mean for the brand and its legacy? We break it down. According to No Treble, which cites court documents from the Fürth District Court in Bavaria, Höfner has filed for bankruptcy. The documents state that preliminary insolvency proceedings were ordered on December 10, 2025, at 5:05 PM, a move intended to protect the company’s assets from further financial deterioration. The report also notes that, according to a longtime former employee, Höfner has been dealing with financial challenges for quite some time. Dr. Hubert Ampferl has been appointed as the insolvency administrator and is now responsible for addressing the company’s debts and seeking potential investors. This isn’t the first time Höfner has faced restructuring. In 1994, the company became part of the Boosey & Hawkes Group, was later sold to The Music Group in 2003, and then acquired by Klaus Schöller in 2004. Höfner was founded by Karl Höfner, originally as a violin-making workshop, before expanding into guitar production in the 1930s. The company went on to develop the Violin Bass in the 1950s, cementing its place in music history. Höfner celebrated its 135th anniversary in 2022, marking well over a century of influence on musicians around the world. We also dive into a great rock ’n’ roll story that one of our viewers tipped us off to — the tale of Jimmy Page losing a Les Paul, only to be reunited with it years later. Then it’s straight to the workbench 🔧 🔥 Ron installs a Lollar Pickup in one of his Jackson guitars, and 🔥 I drop in a set of sealed tuners Ron recently sent me onto my Squier 50th Anniversary 1996 Stratocaster. 🎥 Want Your Stream to Look Pro? 👉 StreamYard: https://streamyard.com/pal/d/4906555367489536

The Johnny Beane Podcast
