The Neurogender Podcast talks about recent neurodivergent research in a gendered context. Why are more women being assessed for neurodivergence in mid and later life? What is neurodivergence, neurogender, and neurodiversity, anyway? Why does any of this matter? I will answer these questions in the series. Each season will examine research from the last 3-5 years in different forms of neurodivergence, and each episode will look at one particular characteristic. We will look at how the research impacts different genders.

4. The Neurogender Podcast: Ageing and Autism

How autistic people deal with the process of ageing is not well researched, partly because of the 'missing generation' of autistic people who were never assessed for autism in their youth and who are elderly today. I have gathered the research available to us and discussed ways we can try and support elderly autistic people. Suicide comes up in the research here, so if you don’t want to hear about that right now, please wait until the next episode comes out, and mind yourself in the best way that suits you.
