This bonus episode of the Podcast is on the Covenant Prayer used by John Wesley, Methodism’s founder. Retired Bishop Larry Goodpaster leads us in a conversation about this classic prayer which challenges us to surrender to God’s will and continue to seek to live a faithful Christian life. John Wesley and the people called Methodists used this prayer both then and now as a way to help us to focus on the New Year ahead of us and on our relationship with God.
A special thanks to Bishop Goodpaster and we hope that you’ll join in for worship at Oak Grove in 2026 as we begin a new series called “Methodism: This is the Way,” which will focus on the core teachings of the Methodist faith.

Pathways to Spiritual Health // Episode 1: What is a Rule of Life? 🎙️✨ with Hanna Cain and Rev. Dr. Joseph McBrayer
This is the first of six episodes that will go through how you can evaluate and improve your own spiritual health by looking at four areas of what it means to live a faithful Christian life: Worship, Devotion, Compassion, and Justice.
A spiritual rule of life is a purposeful, prayerfully crafted framework that guides how you live in alignment with your deepest values and relationship with God. Rather than being a rigid set of regulations, it is a set of guiding commitments or spiritual disciplines that help you order your days and decisions around your faith and spiritual growth. It is meant to be lived out faithfully, not perfectly, and serves as a gentle structure-much like a trellis supports a growing vine-to help you become the person God is forming you to be.
Hanna Cain, OG Youth Ministry Assistant and 3rd year seminarian, shares how she utilizes a rule of life in her own live in this conversation with Rev. Dr. Joseph McBrayer (Associate Pastor for Connection and Digital Ministry).

FALL Podcast 2025 // “The Wisdom of Older Adults" // S10 EP1 PREVIEW EPISODE with Krisy Kuo 🎙️✨
In this season of the podcast, we’ll be taking a look at the wisdom of some of the older adults in our community, including the oldest member of our congregation! She recently celebrated her 101st birthday, and she is so much fun and full of sage advice you will want to hear. Guests include Hassie Padgett, Chuck Rogers, Cathy Huffines, and Barbara Adams.
Our Annual “Celebration of Wisdom and Grace” Worship Service is on Sunday, August 24th at 11am Traditional Worship.
We will hear from folks about some of their spiritual practices, whether it’s photography and seeing the world through different “lenses”, devotion to a daily meditation practice, living out our faith through acts of compassion, or how lifelong involvement here at OGUMC has impacted lives of people in the community—both locally and globally.
The first of four episodes will air on Tuesday, August 12th and subsequent episodes will come out each Tuesday morning on YouTube, Spotify, and Apple podcasts.
We hope you will tune in to hear the lived experiences of these sages among us!
