Talent Is Not A Natural Consequence of Your Birth - Episode 87

You are not born with talent. It is not a matter of "you have it or you don't." Talent is a choice. It must be developed. It is available to anybody.

Talent merely requires deliberate practice.

Geoff Colvin wrote in "Talent is Overrated: What Really Separates World-Class Performers from Everybody Else" that there are five elements to deliberate practice:

1. It's designed specifically to improve performance.

2. It can be repeated a lot.

3. Feedback on results is continuously available.

4. It's highly demanding mentally.

5. It isn't much fun.

And that, my friends, is great news!
