In today’s episode of The Real Jesus Experience, we’re sitting down with Owen Gray—a young man whose entire future changed in a single moment.

Owen grew up in church, with parents who genuinely loved Jesus and modeled what obedient Christian life looks like. He prayed the prayer, he believed in God, and he thought he knew Jesus. But like so many of us, there was something on the throne of his heart that didn’t belong there. For Owen, that something was basketball. After winning a national championship in his homeschool league and having a real shot at playing college ball, his identity, his dreams, and his plans were all wrapped up in the game.

Then, as a freshman athlete, Owen was diagnosed with a disorder that completely derailed the future he thought he was building. In an instant, the path he’d worked for and dreamed about was gone. But even in that loss, God was at work—opening doors Owen never would have chosen, and leading him into a deeper, real, personal relationship with Jesus that he didn't know existed.

In Part 1 of this conversation, Owen shares how that diagnosis shattered his plans, exposed the idol in his heart, and became the starting point of a much greater story—one where Jesus wasn’t just part of his life, but became his life. Let’s jump into the conversation with Owen Gray.
