Being influenced by the likes of MF Doom, Kool Keith and Lupe Fiasco, Patch’s extensive discography leans heavily into sampling as well as topical and conceptual lyrical content, packing a punch for any avid listener of the genre. His understanding of the culture and dedication to authenticity set him apart from the rest as an artist that has a deep care for the art he creates and every time I listen, I find myself being taken away to a new place within each track, both sonically and lyrically. Something I appreciate about Patch is his honest opinions and ability to drop knowledge about music on a dime. Putting me onto numerous artists and albums that I hold very close to my heart and is constantly willing to share his taste whenever I get the chance to chat with him. Something I appreciate about Jordan is his kindness and authenticity as a human, as well as his humility and perspective on artistry as he navigates everyday, working towards his goals and I’m very excited to hear what he has coming out in the future days. From the moment I heard “Carrera” on “406 To The Ville” in 2018 and “X X L” on “Rollercoaster” in 2020, I was instantly drawn to his confidence, creativity and ability to relay a relatable story of struggle and hustle that still to this day, remain very apparent in his process. I’m very thankful for the opportunity he gave me to talk with him about his life, music and mindset and I’m very excited to see where his talent and work ethic will take him in the days to come. Since then, Drem has continued to throw community events, like open mics and my favorite, ”Drem N’ Friends” shows, by creating space for artists to be themselves and i think it’s a very important piece in our puzzle as we continue to try and bolster the local scene and work at building a stronger foundation for the hip-hop genre. It was truly a blessing to be able to connect with him after a few years of listening to his beats and I’m excited to see what he does in the future with his creativity. Some of the very first local Hip-Hop music videos I ever saw were filmed by Colter and it’s been really amazing to get to know him and have moments of my first exposure to local music, come full circle by getting to sit down with him and chat about where he started, where he is now and hear him share his experiences and perspective about the local scene here in Montana throughout his years of being involved with the community.
