A club of well known detective writers in the UK. Agatha Christie and Dorothy L. Sayers were members of this secret club. They formed a club in 1920 to 1930. It was called the Detection Club during the GoldenAge of Detective Writing.
James never developed a hard-boiled detective but instead, wrote love stories. Brutal, frank, passionate love stories. "The Postman Always Rings Twice" Lana Turner played in that one, and Joan Crawford played "Mildred Pierce" are two of his more well known novels that have been made into films...
Raymond Chandler created Philip Marlow and wrote him into 7 novels. Chandler's best known novel, The Big Sleep has been adapted into three films, two plays, a TV series, and BBC4 Radio shows twice. Amazing! He also wrote screen plays.
