The shepherds were the first to hear the good news, the first to see the Christ Child, and the first to share the message. Their story reminds us that God’s love often arrives quietly, in fields — in ordinary places, among ordinary people — and then calls us to tell others. As we gather for worship today, may our hearts echo the shepherds’ telegram of joy: Christ is born! God is with us! May we, too, go forth glorifying and praising God for all we have seen and heard this Christmas.

More than 2,000 years have passed since Christ was born and we are still drawn to this story that never gets old. Scripture says, “But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son” (Galatians 4:4). And with the entire universe moving at His command, every participant in this great human drama took their place as planned on the stage of eternity. But it didn’t end on that night. We are here both as witnesses and participants in the same narrative that was conceived, produced and directed by God, and we all have a role to play in this timeless story.  

Rather than observing the birth of Christ with a sense of nostalgia, why not rediscover the meaning and purpose it holds for us all? For the babe born in that stable has the power to transform us again and again. Welcome. We are glad you are here!

It was the prophet Isaiah who first introduced us to one of the most beautiful words found in the Old Testament — Emmanuel. When translated, it means “God with us.” The word not only holds historical and sacred significance to all of God’s people, but it also symbolizes God’s divine presence and protection for both the present and future.   Emmanuel conveys a sense of promise and belonging, of care and comfort, of courage and optimism. As we find ourselves in this season of Advent, it is so important for us to know that even now God is with us in our waiting, Our Celebration, our celebration for the gift of the Messiah, and most of all, for the love He brings to all people. We are delighted that you have joined us for worship in this sacred Advent season, and we hope you feel the love and warmth of our congregation. Indeed, God is with us!
