On Sunday we kicked off a new sermon series : Revealed and Given: A Journey with Jesus through Epiphany and Lent. In the coming weeks, we'll be looking at stories about Jesus from the four Gospels that disclose or reveal something important about Jesus' identity and mission. This Sunday, Rick Hutton will be preaching on another seminal Epiphany story, the wedding feast at Cana.

This week we are starting a new preaching series that will carry us through winter and spring. We will follow the life of Jesus in two parts, shaped by the rhythm of the liturgical calendar. The series is titled “Revealed & Given,” reflecting the dual movements of Epiphany and Lent — seasons that together draw us more deeply into the mystery of Christ. This Sunday we'll be in Matthew 3:13-17 where Jesus is Revealed as the Beloved Son. In place of preparation notes this week, I encourage you to spend time meditating on those verses ahead of Sunday's service.

This weekend, we will join together to proclaim the good news of Christmas alongside our brothers and sisters. Ed Satterfield will be preaching about Jesus as Suffering Savior.

This Sunday, we'll consider one of those prophecies from Isaiah and how Matthew sees it being fulfilled in the life of Joseph and Mary.

As we draw closer to Christmas, we begin to reflect on the mysteries of the Incarnation, even as we continue to dwell in the darkness of Advent. This Sunday, we'll hold the tension of hope that we remember in Advent, as we claim the promise of renewal even as we look around and see very few signs of its coming.

This Sunday, we step into the wilderness with John and allow his voice to awaken us, so that we may be ready to receive Christ, the Judge who brings peace.
