Don't worry y'all, we're still recording new episodes, it's just that our posting schedule is becoming a bit more loosey goosey to accommodate our busy lives. There's more to come, but we're no longer aiming for a consistent "every other Monday."
Anyway, join us this episode as we explore the problem of evil, daring it ask:
- Is God good?
- Is God powerful?
- Does evil exist?
If the answer to all 3 is yes then...
- WHAT THE F?
Surely we'll be able to come up with a simple and satisfying answer to this logic puzzle that's challenged theologians for millennia. And we'll have some laughs doing it!
Join us as we tackle a topic Catherine has been thinking about a lot lately - monotheism!
We'll explore questions like:
- How many gods are there?
- No really, because the Bible is... inconsistent about it sometimes
- How does the way we think about monotheism impact how we live our lives faithfully and how we practice interfaith dialogue?
and
- Why is it okay to have pictures of Jesus when the Bible says not to make images of God?
We hope you find something interesting to chew on from this episode.
Love,
Catherine and Leah and Sophie
Join Catherine and Leah and Sophie as we ask important questions like:
Should Communion be yummy?
What's the deal with those little crackers?
and
Who are we "communing" with, exactly?
Happy Canadian Thanksgiving to all who celebrate!
Join Catherine and Leah and Sophie as we talk about work.
We'll ask (along with the ancients):
- Why is this SO HARD?
- What does it mean to show up to work with our values and integrity
and
- How does God's plan fit into this?
We've barely scratched the surface of this important topic, so we hope to come back to it another time!
After a brief hiatus due to Sophie's international escapades, the girls are back to talk about rest! Join Catherine and Leah and Sophie as we ask questions like:
- Could God take a rest so relaxing even He can't feel guilty about it?
- Why is it so hard to rest?
- Can rest be theological?
Please note that we have a new microphone setup this week so the audio quality is not AMAZING... we're working on it!
This week Catherine, Sophie, and Leah ask more questions than they answer, like:
- what happens to someone when they die?
- what will happen to everyone at the end of time?
- is the concept of hell "biblical?"
- are cats doomed to eternal destruction?
and
- is everything going to be okay?
Join us while we talk about some of our favourite media depictions of the afterlife, what concepts preceded our current understanding of "heaven" and "hell" and how close Catherine's imagined version of heaven is to "The Good Place." We barely scratched the surface on this huge topic, so you might hear us unpacking some of these ideas later too!
Welcome to the first episode of Thought Daughter Theology, a podcast where three women talk about how we fit into Christianity and how Christianity fits into us.
This episode, Catherine, Leah, and Sophie are asking (and sometimes answering) questions like:
Then stay for the second half of the episode where Catherine talks about where the theology of the Trinity came from and why it matters (hint - it has to do with community!)
