Happy New Year, Thrivesters! Today we’re diving into one of my favorite rituals: choosing the one word (or phrase) that becomes your True North for the year ahead. Not a resolution. Not a list. Not pressure in disguise. Just a single grounding idea that guides how you show up, move, and make decisions.
I’ve been using a “word of the year” for over a decade, and when I tell you it works…it works. One of my past words, Thrive, ended up inspiring my vision board, my daily screensaver, a feature in Thrive Global, and eventually – yes - the Thrive Hive Podcast. That’s how powerful aligned intention is.
I’ve had missteps too. Some words fall flat. Some years fall apart. And that’s all part of the process.
This year my word is FRESH.
And the story behind it is equal parts hilarious and incredibly insightful. (Spoiler: it started with my husband insisting on “showing up fresh” and me being a bit bratty about it.)
Then I thought about this idea of “fresh”. What if fresh wasn’t a luxury… but a choice? A mindset? A way of living where you stop powering through and start choosing presence, boundaries, rest, clarity, and a fresh approach to the things that matter?
Imagine giving yourself:
✨ fresh perspective
✨ fresh habits
✨ fresh grace
✨ fresh energy
✨ fresh beginnings—even in places that feel old
Think of fresh as the antidote to “just push through.” It’s not perfection. It’s renewal.
We’re stepping into 2026 with fresh energy - shedding the old like the Year of the Snake, and galloping into the new like the Year of the Horse (because yes, we’re talking Chinese astrology too).
This year is going to move.
And I want all of us ready Thrivesters - not exhausted, not depleted, not dragging yourself to the starting line.
Fresh. As. A. Daisy.
Welcome to 2026, Thrivesters. Let’s ride.
Let’s go thrive like we mean it.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year… and also the messiest, the noisiest, and the most likely to send even the calmest among us into a full emotional tailspin.
This week Thrivesters, I’m coming to you surrounded by oyster-shell ornaments, cookie crumbs, and homemade wine toppers - because apparently, I still over-commit even while teaching YOU not to. It’s festive chaos over here, but it’s also exactly why today’s episode matters.
If you love the holidays and find yourself bracing for impact as soon as the extended family walks through the door, this one’s for you.
Here’s the truth we don’t talk about nearly enough:
Family dynamics have a special way of pulling us back into childhood roles faster than you can say “Who made this sweet potato pie?”
So today, I’m breaking down three ways to navigate all of it with clarity, humor, boundaries, and actual grace - not the kind you force through your teeth.
Here’s what you’ll hear:
1. Remember: It’s Not About You (Yep, I Said It)
2. Boundaries: Set ’Em, Say ’Em, Stick to ’Em
3. Go Inward: What’s Your Role Here?
You’ll laugh, you’ll cringe, you’ll definitely recognize a few holiday characters in your own life… and you’ll walk away with a plan to actually enjoy the season without losing yourself in the process.
Because Thrivesters - the holiday drama doesn’t get to control your experience.
YOU DO.

It’s December, Thrivesters, which means we are officially in the season where six months of living gets crammed into three weeks and somehow we’re all expected to smile, sparkle, and simultaneously attend 47 events with matching pajamas and homemade cookies.
Spoiler Alert: You cannot do all the things.
And neither can I.
In today’s episode, I’m pulling back the curtain on the years I used to run myself ragged hosting full-blown holiday extravaganzas - ice sculptures, champagne fountains, disco lights, custom cocktail napkins. Yes, in a Boston apartment. Yes, while I was flying around delivering keynotes and eating airport dinners.
And they were FUN…
Until they weren’t.
Eventually, the holidays became less “joyful celebration” and more “why am I sweating through December while everyone else is sipping mulled wine?” So I stopped. And wow, did people have feelings about it. (I still get the Devil Wears Prada up-and-down look every year. You know the one.)
Truth bomb for you Thrivesters:
You’re allowed to say no.
You’re allowed to protect your energy.
And you’re allowed to enjoy a holiday season that doesn’t leave you looking like the cat who touched the light socket.
Today I’m giving you five no-BS, drama-free ways to say NO - with kindness, with clarity, with confidence, and without ghosting people or offering panicked explanations.
December wants to pull you in a thousand directions and this episode hands you the scripts, the confidence, and the permission to choose where your energy goes this season - and where it absolutely does not.
Because protecting your peace is not rude, selfish, or dramatic.
It’s leadership.
It’s maturity.
It’s growth.
And it’s exactly how you step into 2026 as the YOU, you actually want to be.
✨ The next episode is a special one, so make sure you’re subscribed… it’s going to be GOOD.
Now go thrive like you mean it.

We’ve all said it, Thrivesters - “I’ll deal with it after the holidays.” And let’s be real… this is usually code for “I don’t want to think about it right now.”
In this caffeinated, no-filter episode, I’m diving into the three words that quietly sabotage your motivation and momentum every year. You’ll learn why “after the holidays” isn’t about time - it’s about avoidance - and how to take one small step now to protect your future self from burnout, guilt, and that January regret spiral.
I’m also going back to our roots and talking about the one word women need to drop from their vocabulary ASAP (hint: it’s right?), and why it’s secretly chipping away at your confidence every time you say it.
Get ready for a mix of straight talk, laughter, and my signature Thrive Hive truth bombs - because thriving isn’t something you postpone. It’s something you practice, especially when life gets full.
In this episode:
The sneaky danger of “after the holidays” thinking
The one small step to reclaim your time and energy right now
How to prep yourself for a thrive-style new year - before January
Links & Resources:
You know I love you, Thrivesters so I’m coming in hot with a quick holiday truth bomb: there are three innocent little words that can absolutely derail your joy this season. And yes… I’ve used all of them.
Today we’re talking about my own personal struggle with overcommitting, and how the three words — “should,” “sure,” and “sorry” — can suck the energy (and joy) right out of your holiday season.
Today is part pep talk, part self - intervention, and all about reclaiming your peace before you hit burnout.
Here’s what you’ll hear about today:
This isn’t about saying no to everything, it’s about saying yes to what really matters. Because you can’t thrive if you’re constantly running on empty.
Now – go out there and thrive like you mean it!

When life starts to feel too small for who you’ve become, it’s not a breakdown - it’s a breakthrough.
This one hit deep, Thrivesters and today we’re talking about what it really means to outgrow your old life and to do so with grace.
I got a lot of comments on the Life Audit recap episode, which was dedicated to this very idea. You know, those moments when everything in your life is great, fine, hitting it on all cylinders and yet - something still feels… off.
This week, I sat down with my childhood friend Carla Greengrass, now a Purposeful Pivot Coach, and we got real about what happens when the life you built doesn’t fit anymore. From the playground to the big PR job, reinvention number 1, 2 and what’s next.
Today you have a front row seat to real, unfiltered talk between two old friends who met on the playground. Today Carla and I unpack what it actually means to evolve - and why this is not a crisis, it’s a calling.
We talk about:
And, yes, I share a personal story about my own life audit, and how I realized my compass had shifted from “grow the business” to protect my peace.
Carla breaks down her Energy Leadership Index Assessment, explaining how it reveals the beliefs that drive your reactions - and how to use that awareness to finally choose the life you truly want. She even shares her “Pocket-Sized Pivots,” tiny mindset shifts you can make in real time when life throws a curveball.
If you’ve been asking yourself, “Why don’t I feel fulfilled anymore?” - this episode will shake something loose. You’re not broken. You’re simply evolving. And that’s a good thing.
Now go out there and thrive like you mean it!

Why I’m done letting deadlines, distractions, and other people’s priorities steal my joy.
Let’s be real, Thrivesters - right about this time of year we start feeling the countdown. Emails screaming “90 days left!” Candy canes a plenty. Prime Day in October! Everywhere we turn, someone’s trying to make us feel behind.
And here’s the truth: I will not do it this year.
Today, Thrivesters we’re ditching the illusion of urgency and getting real about the pressure we all feel as the holidays (and year-end) approach. Instead of sprinting into burnout, I’m setting myself up for a season that actually feels good - one rooted in presence, joy, and boundaries that stick. And you can too.
Here’s what we’re talking about today:
What is urgent versus what is important - and how to tell the difference
How I’m simplifying my favorite traditions (yes, even my famous homemade Baileys)
How to plan time for moments, not things - because human connection always wins (spoiler alert, this includes my step-by-step way to audit your holiday calendar so you can cancel three things - guilt-free
Is it too early to be talking about the Holidays? I don’t think so. Because somewhere between the cookie exchanges, the corporate parties, and the chaos, we forget that joy needs space to breathe. We are already booking flights, getting tickets, setting dates, and this year I’m making a commitment to slow down and actually smell the Bailey’s (literally), focus on the moments that matter, and leave room for the magic that only shows up when we’re not rushing around.
If you’re already feeling that year-end push - the pressure to do more, buy more, be more - this one’s for you.
✨ Because urgent is the thief of important. And this season, we get to decide.
Links & Resources:
So… what happens when you finally get everything you wanted? The big goals, the dream clients, the stage lights, the income… all of it.
If you’re me? You wake up one day, decide to dedicate two days to a life audit which makes you realize… you never even stopped to notice. You’ve been sprinting toward goals that expired years ago - and no one ever told you what to do once you actually hit them.
Today Thrivesters, I’m getting real about what came up during my two-day life audit - and how it shook me in the best possible way.
For two full days, I unplugged. No meetings. No emails. No “quick calls.” Just me, my notebook, and some brutally honest questions. And what came out of that time was not what I expected.
Here’s what I discovered - and what might help you, too:
💡 The shock of realizing your “dream goals” aren’t your True North anymore
💡 The three questions that changed everything: What’s working? What’s not? What do I actually want next?
💡 Why I ditched my revenue goal for the first time in 30 years (and why that eventually brought peace, not panic)
💡 How my priorities shifted to what matters most: health, wellness, relationships, and the kind of success you can’t measure
💡 And why uncomfortable self-honesty might be the most radical act of growth there is
If you’ve been feeling off - like you’re running hard but not sure where you’re headed - this episode is your permission slip to stop, breathe, and recalibrate.
Because no one talks about this part - the quiet identity crisis that comes after achievement. The part where you realize the life you built might not actually fit anymore.

Reinvention isn’t about chasing more - it’s aboutbecoming more you.
When your identity (aka self-worth) is closely tied towhat you do, (I’m a fitness instructor, I’m a VP of sales, I’m a full time Mom, I’m a Doctor, etc.) – what happens when that identity changes? And, what happens when you have NO IDEA what you new identity is?
Today Thrivesters, I’ve invited back our fan favorite –Brenda Johnston to tell us what it’s really take to reinvent yourself, shift your identity, and protect your energy in a world that is constantly pulling at you.
Brenda is a subconscious and energy mentor, businessre-definer, and unapologetic truth-teller and together we are talking about what happens when old beliefs bump up against new goals, and why aligning your subconscious mind with your future vision might be the missing piece you’vebeen looking for. From the deeply personal (my own relationship breakthrough during a session with Brenda) to the practical (Brenda’s “rubber bubble” technique for protecting your energy), this episode blends authenticity, humor, and straight up truth bombs.
My three favorite tidbits from today’s episode:
If you’re ready to reinvent yourself but don’t know where tostart - or if you’re tired of living a life that doesn’t feel like you - this episode is your catalyst to stop performing, hit that reset button and do the next best thing. For YOU.

Sometimes the best ideas come when you least expect them - like in pajamas on a mental health day with zero guilt attached. That’s right Thrivesters, today I’m sharing why pressing pause matters AND how bestselling neuroscientist Lisa Genova’s work is reshaping the way we think about brain health.
Spoiler: Think about sleep like your life depends on it - because it does.
From Still Alice to her newest novel Still More or Less Maddie, Lisa uses fiction to help us understand the science of memory, Alzheimer’s, and mental health. Today, thrivesters we are running with it and talking about how our everyday choices can literally changethe trajectory of our brains.
In this episode, you’ll hear:
This isn’t just theory Thrivesters, it’s real life stories backed by science to prove what we already know here in the Hive… how you live impacts EVERYTHING.

This was a tough episode for me , Thrivesters and in fact - it almost didn’t happen.
Here’s the tea:
I was sitting on my back deck recently with my coffee in hand, listening to the wind (fun fact - I’ve always been a beach person, but the woods and the wind bring me so much peace.) As I was sitting there, I said to myself, not unlikeI’ve done for the last twenty years:
“Nancy, you have got to slow down. You’ve got to stop overcommitting. You can’t keep up this pace”
And hearing that old, familiar, every year/month/week-same-thing-every-time created a moment of truth for me. A slap in my own face. Pretty simple.
I need a life audit.
Here’s why this was hard for me to admit. I’m a coach, a LIFE coach you could even say. I work with people inthis exact same situation all the time. And somehow here I am, with too much on my plate, the never ending to-dolist, competing priorities, overbooked calendars, and the same goal I’ve been setting for myself for decades.
Something has to change.
It’s time to pause, clear the decks, get still, and look at what’s really working, what’s not, and the way I want thingsto be.
Here's what I'm sharing with you today:
The exact moment of truth and the voice text I sent to my friend.

Question for you Thrivesters: what happens when you strip away the numbing and finally face your life - raw, unfiltered, and ready for change?
In today’s powerful episode, I sit down with Samantha Parker, entrepreneur, digital creator, and sober super-mom who isn’t afraid to speak the truth about what it really takes to thrive after addiction.
We talk about the moment that changed everything - a stinging sentence from her young son when he was sick - and how that heartbreaking moment led her to a path of radical honesty, personal responsibility, and eventually finding true peace.
Samantha shares the highs and lows of her sober journey, how running became her therapy, and why rest isn’t something women should have to earn.
We cover:
This episode is your permission slip to pause, breathe, and remember who you are.
Your Call to Action:
Take five quiet minutes today to reflect on a habit, relationship, or story that might no longer serve you. Ask yourself: What would freedom feel like?
You don’t need all the answers here Thrivesters, just a little honesty and a lot of self-compassion.
Then go out there and thrive like you mean it!

Today’s episode is powerful, Thrivesters - I’m diving into a topic most high-achieving women like you struggle with but rarely talk about: rest. Not as a luxury, but as a requirement for resilience, clarity, and confidence.
For example - my friend who was too exhausted to get off her bed and go to the beach - even though that’s exactly what she needed. On a Thursday. In Cape Cod.
Sound familiar? We, as women have been conditioned to believe that we have to earn our rest and today, we’re unpacking why that belief is holding us back and may be causing more damage than we know.
We’ll explore:
Why women are conditioned to associate rest with laziness or selfishness
How tying your identity to your output makes rest feel dangerous
The sneaky guilt that shows up when you try to slow down
Science-backed reasons rest = resilience
This is your reminder that rest isn’t indulgent. It’s intelligent. And reclaiming it might just be the boldest move you make this year.
You’ll learn how:
Rest improves executive function, decision-making, and emotional regulation
Women experience higher rates of burnout because of our output-driven identity
Guilt around rest is a symptom of conditioning - not truth
Resilience isn’t pushing through; it’s bouncing back - and this requires recovery (ie, REST).
Your challenge this week: rest without the guilt and without “earning” it. Take 20 minutes just for you - no justification required.
Then - go out there and thrive like you mean it!

Thrivesters , this conversation is the one you didn’t know you needed.
How many times have you heard “advocate for yourself,” or “you have to meet your own needs,” and thought… but I don’t even know what I need?
This week, I’m joined by the brilliant and deeply grounded Mara Glatzel - author of Needy: How to Advocate for Your Needs and Claim Your Sovereignty. She's a coach, writer, mother of dragons (okay, daughters), and the queen of helping women stop outsourcing their well-being and start reclaiming their relationship with themselves.
Together, we go deep into the real reason why even the most accomplished, self-aware women (yes, you) still put themselves last - and how to finally stop.
You’ll hear:
✨ How to rebuild your relationship with yourself - and why most of us have to
✨ The invisible ego payoff of “doing it all” - and how it’s secretly draining your joy
✨ How to know when a relationship is draining you - and what to do about it
✨ The difference between what you need and what you want (yes, both matter)
✨ How to handle people who are uncomfortable with your thriving
✨ What toxic productivity really is and how to break the cycle without giving up your ambition
✨ 3 powerful prompts to begin (or deepen) your self-partnership today
Plus: We unpack Zumba obsessions, the dangers of shrinking to be liked, and why being “too much” might be exactly what you’re here for.
If you’ve ever felt exhausted by your to-do list, disconnected from your joy, or unsure of what you even want anymore - this episode will light a fire in you.
So after you’ve listened, and maybe more than once - share this episode with the person you know needs to hear it - then to out there are THRIVE like you mean it!

This one hit me hard, Thrivesters and I knew I had to bring this straight to the Hive.
After three weeks on the road, I finally unpacked my big overflowing work bag - and I was blown away at what I found.
Ten pens. Five lip balms. Three lipsticks. Two notepads. A dirty spoon (yes, really). And a whole lot of stuff I didn’t need - physically and emotionally.
That bag was heavy. And not just in pounds.
This episode is your invitation to take inventory of what you’re carrying, consciously or not.
That expired coupon you keep moving from bag to bag
The unread brochure from a cause you care about but haven’t engaged with
The mental tabs open from conversations you’re avoiding
The emotional residue of expectations, stories from your past, or roles you’ve outgrown
Just because something once mattered doesn’t mean it still deserves space and today we unpack what it means to declutter your emotional carry-on, reclaim your mental real estate, and stop hauling things around with you just because you always have.
You’ll hear:
The subtle weight of “just in case” thinking
Why the news and social media might be draining your energy before your day even starts
A powerful question to ask yourself before you move anything - physically or emotionally - into your next chapter
If it were really that important, wouldn’t you have done something about it by now?
Let’s clear the space, lighten the load, and give ourselves permission to only carry what serves us now.
If this resonates, let me know - tag me, message me, leave a comment. YOU are why this Thrive Hive exists.

I’ve said it before, Thrivesters, and I’ll say it again: my energy is nonrenewable, and I can’t get it back.
Summer can be glorious, but it can also be a thief. Even the “good” stress - the parties, beach days, houseguests, late nights - ALL THE FUN THINGS still register as stress in your body.
Your nervous system doesn’t care how fabulous your calendar looks; it just knows you’re running hot.
This week inside The Hive, we’re talking about how to protect your most valuable resource: your energy.
You’ll hear:
Why even joyful plans can drain you
How to identify and honor your peak energy time
What to say when your body says no, but your calendar says yes
How to handle energy vampires (and why you should never confront them)
Scripts for saying no; to your boss, your friend, even yourself - without guilt or overexplaining
You don’t owe anyone your depletion.
You don’t need to earn your rest.
And you definitely don’t need to apologize for protecting your peace.
Today, you’ll get the tools to pause before you say yes, edit what’s no longer aligned, and recharge like your life depends on it - because it does.

After three weeks, twelve planes, five hotels, and more real conversations than I can count, I felt something incredibly powerful, Thrivesters:
I felt the power of the HIVE. The HIVE IS ALIVE (and it’s global)!
No matter where I went in the world, I made real connections with the women I met. Everywhere.
In airports, spas, at the gym - even when we didn’t speak the same language - we saw each other.
WOW what a feeling.
I’ve traveled quite a bit and in fact, used to travel almost every week for work. And from time to time I would exchange a knowing smile with the woman across the aisle or a pleasant nod across the lobby to that kindred spirit.
But this time was different. This time, it happened everywhere.
And I think I know why, Thrivesters.
What you seek, you will find.
Since launching The Hive, I have had countless conversations with women like you and women like me, sharing our unique perspective as women intent on thriving. And as a result, I expect to experience that immediate connection when I meet someone new.
As I tooled around on this fun vacation, I subconsciously was seeking that connection from the women across the globe. And that’s exactly what I found.
This episode is a love letter to women who are seeking real connection. If your current circle doesn’t feel like your people, maybe it’s time to build a new one.
Come on over, your Hive is already waiting for you.
In this episode, we talk about:
✨ The power of intentional connection
✨ How to spot your people (they’re closer than you think)
✨ Why it might be time to reimagine your support system
✨ What to do when you’re craving real, honest conversation

For 15 years, I gave myself every excuse not to run.
Wrong shoes.
Wrong gear.
Too tired.
Too cold.
My feet hurt.
You name it - I said it. And I believed it.
Until one morning in Crete. I’m at this beautiful outdoor gym. No water. No socks. No Netflix. A total act of God that my AirPods even connected.
I hit play and on comes Lynyrd Skynyrd. “Gimme Three Steps.”
I start walking. Then jogging.
Then running.
And I couldn’t stop. I didn’t stop.
The cadence. The breathing. The eye of the tiger look in my eye.
WOW. I felt like myself again.
That strong, focused, determined version of me I didn’t even realize had gone missing.
And once I found her - oh, she was BACK.
And it felt so. damn. good.
This episode is about that moment. The one where you remember who you are. The one where something clicks and suddenly, all the excuses lose their power.
Because she’s not gone, she’s simply waiting. Waiting for you to reclaim that part of you.
And this kind of reconnection is available to anyone.
Including you.
If there’s a version of you that’s been lost…
If there’s a dream or habit or instinct you’ve been putting off…
It’s time to start paying attention.
The signs are there.
It’s up to you what you do with them.

Today I’m inviting you to pause and take stock - not with guilt or shame, but with clarity and conviction.
Because if a goal hasn’t gotten your attention in six months, it might not be your goal anymore. Perhaps it never was. And that’s okay.
I’m walking you through my own mid-year check-in - across seven areas of priorities for my life.
Some goals I’ve crushed and others I haven’t even touched. And that’s what this episode is really about:
✅ Letting go of what no longer fits
✅ Realigning with what matters now
✅ Giving yourself permission to change your mind
This isn’t about pushing harder. It’s about getting real with where you are - and where you actually want to go next..
