Each week, we take the headlines, the memes, the scandals, the politics, the awkward moments on TikTok, and the big cultural conversations—then give them the treatment they deserve: part satire, part analysis, part “yo, did that really just happen?” South African news can be heavy. Pop culture can be shallow. Comedy can be silly. This podcast lives in the in-between space where all three collide. Hosted by Thula Sithole, a stand-up comedian, cultural commentator, and professional overthinker. New episodes drop weekly. Subscribe, laugh with us, argue with us, and share it with a friend!

Moses Sithole is a South African serial killer and rapist who committed the ABC Murders. It is believed that he is so named because they began in Atteridgeville, continued in Boksburg and finished in Cleveland, a suburb of Johannesburg.

Sithole murdered at least 37 women and one toddler between 16 July 1994 and 6 November 1995. Sithole was sentenced to 2,410 years imprisonment and is currently incarcerated in Mangaung Correctional Centre in Bloemfontein.

BONUS! True Crime Episode: Apartheid Child Trafficking Ring? The shocking crimes of Gert Van Rooyen

Thula, You Talk Too Much!
Patriotism, Artist Vs their Art & other things

Wassup! I'm back with another episode, and this week I talk about living in South Africa and how it is sometimes necessary to put some distance between oneself and the surrounding political climate, where possible. I also speak about the double consciousness a lot of us often find ourselves in where we struggle to deal with our appreciation and nostalgic love for an artist when confronted with unsettling knowledge about their personal conduct. Enjoy!

Creative discipline, Karma & Comedy

On this episode I talk about my ambitions for creating a life that allows me to have consistent creative discipline, how a mosquito bite led me to think about the dynamics of how we understand and relate to the concept of Karma on an individual & global scale, and I reflect on the Mother City Comedy Festival and stand-up comedy in South Africa. The Philosophy of Trying, The Anglo-Zulu War, and Taking up space

On this episode of the podcast I examine the worth of "trying" and what it means to me. I also talk about the epic Anglo-Zulu battle (The Battle of Isandlwana) and what inspires me about that story. Lastly, I reflect on the notion of taking up space and how my upbringing made it hard for me to embrace that idea without feeling guilty. It's a loaded and great episode. Enjoy!
