In Part 1, our frequent show guest, John Cassler, gave us a crash course on the history of cinema and film score music, as well as going over some common music terms associated with composers and film scores. For Part 2, we will be talking about and highlighting three of the six most influential film score composers (in our opinion) of all time. We will talk about the master of leitmotifs, John Williams, the experimental and profound style of, Hans Zimmer, and the epic and episodic musical storytelling that is created by, Howard Shore. All of these composers are masters of their craft and are responsible for some of the most iconic and inspiring moments in music and cinema in the past century. We will be learning about their lives and talking about some of the fantastic films that they have been a part of creating music for. We will also be talking about the difference between film score music, and soundtrack music, since we failed to explain that in Part 1.. (Sorry).. When people who are avid fans talk about their favorite musicians or artists, a lot of times they can tell you everything about them.. Where they were born, what their life was like growing up, what inspired them to start creating music. That's what being a super fan is all about! But when we think of musicians, a lot of times we only think about bands that tour the world and are mainly listened to on Spotify or Apple Music.. We don't often think about film score composers.. Many people know of some of the big film score composers like, John Williams, Hans Zimmer, Danny Elfman, etc. But have you ever thought about what their lives were like, and what inspired them to create the music they do? It's a bittersweet moment posting the final segment of our artist spotlight with Joey Cook. It was truly such a fun experience and amazing opportunity to get to talk to her. Aside from butchering the pronunciation of Jordan's last name at the first of this episode, we think this interview turned out nicely. Join us as we interview the lead vocalist of a local up-and-coming band from Utah called, you guessed it, Private School Boys. This band is of a shredding, conceptual, rhythmic, and ambient nature, with a sound that is reminiscent of bands like "Muse", "Pink Floyd", "The Beatles", and "The Neighborhood". We were extremely lucky and honored to be able to interview a member of this band, as they are undoubtedly going to do great things. In this interview we will get to know Jordan, and learn about the rest of the band members (Kennen Brooks, Taylor Adam, Alex Wylie) and their background. We will also talk about their new amazing EP that was just released called "Private Beach". You can find this EP on any popular music streaming platform. It is also worth noting that the EP was mixed, recorded, mastered, and produced by none other than Joe Cassler, of the band "BLIX10", that has been on our show in the past. Joe’s brother, John Cassler, also helped and was the main photographer. Talking with Jordan was very inspiring, and you could hear the passion he has for music come through in this interview.
