The lecture “Holy Bodies, Transformed Minds” — based on Romans 12 — explores what it means for Christians to live wholly for God, both in body and in thought. It draws especially from Romans 12:2, where Paul urges believers not to conform to the patterns of this world but to be transformed by the renewal of their minds, so they may discern and live out God’s perfect will. This teaching recognizes that the command sounds simple but can feel overwhelming in practice. Many Christians, upon reading Paul’s words, instinctively turn it into a self-improvement checklist: “Stop conforming. Renew my mind. Learn discernment.” The lecture, however, reframes that mindset entirely. Dr. Jones emphasizes that our transformation is not a self-generated effort—it is a response to God’s mercy and a work made possible through Christ’s holiness, not our own striving. In other words, we don’t achieve holiness by trying harder; we live it out as we are renewed by the Spirit.

“If all roads lead to the top of the mountain, why did Jesus die to open just one?”   In this third conversation of Gospel Truth and Pagan Lies, Joshua and Mary tackle one of the most popular—and seductive—ideas in modern spirituality: that all religions are essentially the same. From yoga studios to YouTube gurus, from celebrity interviews to neighborhood coffee chats, the mantra of our time is “all religions are one.” People say, “Every religion has part of the truth,” “We’re all climbing the same mountain,” or “It doesn’t matter what you call God as long as you’re sincere.” Joshua and Mary unpack where this idea comes from, why it appeals to our culture, and how it directly contradicts the gospel of Jesus Christ.  

In this episode, Mary Weller and Joshua Gielow explore the second point of Paganism lies vs Gospel Truth. They explore two contrasting views on humanity’s spiritual connection and its role in society. First, they discuss the concept that humanity is one, united in divine power, where unity can bring peace and happiness. This view advocates for the elimination of borders, hierarchies, and inequalities, envisioning a utopian world where all beings are equal because is one and all is divine. The Christian perspective, which divides humanity into two groups: those who are with God and those who are against Him. Here, true unity comes through faith in Jesus Christ, and while all humans are created equal in God’s eyes, a distinction is made between God’s children and those in rebellion. They discuss how these opposing worldviews shape our understanding of humanity, divinity, and spiritual fulfillment.
