The Ultimate Traitor explores the chilling true story of Robert Hendy-Freegard — the conman who posed as an MI5 agent and manipulated his victims through fear, loyalty and lies. A real-life game of trust and betrayal that echoes The Traitors, this episode examines how deception became a weapon — and how ordinary people were drawn into his control, with so many lives destroyed.
In the end he was just a Traitor, playing a game that nobody agreed to play.

Today I am re-releasing an episode I recorded in 2019 about Allan Grimson, a totally depraved excuse for a man who murdered at least two Royal Navy Sailors and it is speculated, up to as many as twenty others. The reason I have re-released this episode for you today, is because as you may have heard, the police announced last week that they have ended the investigation into the disappearance of Simon Parkes in Gibraltar - a man widely thought to have been another of Grimson's victims.
I don't think this story is widely enough known and so wanted to release it again as a tribute to the two men who were killed by Grimson - Nicholas Wright and Sion Jenkins - and to raise awareness in the hope that Simon's devastated family and friends can finally discover what happened to him.

The story from this week looks at a massive seizure of heroin and cocaine from a gang based in the north-west of England and rural north Wales. But what hit me is there is none of the drama we see in crime programmes on the television - it is a story of four men quietly going about their business under the radar, making money for themselves and causing untold misery in the communities where we all live. Depending on your view of the failure - or otherwise - of the so-called 'War on Drugs' then this story is either of real significance, or it doesn't really matter....

For Kenneth Bastow, from Yorkshire, it was his usual Friday night routine. A few drinks with his old pal at the pub to round off the week and put the world to rights. But this time as he waved goodnight to his friend as he drove away after dropping him home, he didn't know that his house wasn't empty. There was someone waiting there for him with deadly intentions.

It was the usual bus to college in Plymouth that 18 year old Alicia Eborne had caught so many times before. But this time, she had not made it to college or even been seen since leaving home as usual that morning - had she even made it to the bus? But one person knew exactly what had happened to Alicia. A man trusted by so many, but a man capable of a terrible murder...

I am again joined by Grace, host of the excellent RedRum Podcast as we talk about the murder of Michael O’Leary, a Welsh father who vanished after being lured to a remote location by his killer. We explore how an affair, a staged message, and an attempt to destroy evidence led investigators to uncover the truth behind this calculated crime.

It was such a minor event to happen, totally irrelevant in the scheme of things. But 26 year old Robert Thacker was believed to have been responsible, so his so-called friend decided he should be taught a lesson, and what he decided to do, is the stuff of our worst nightmares.

This week I am celebrating an amazing nine years of the UK True Crime Podcast. To mark this anniversary, I have released today the very first episode of the podcast and certainly one of the most shocking of the 500 or so I have released. It tells of how a young man,Tony Bushby, uses social media and incredible deception to commit the most dreadful murder of 19 year old Katie Wynter.

Elizabeth Baxter had lived in Plaistow, East London for all of her 77 years and was, as you can imagine, well-known and liked in the area. So just who had murdered her in her own home, leaving cash in the flat untouched - it seemed like a murder with no motive.

This week saw a report by the Prisons & Probation Ombudsman about the terrible abuse that occurred at Medomsley Detention Centre in County Durham. I covered this case in July 2017 so this is a re-release this episode with an introduction and a conclusion including some of the findings of the report and what happens next.
If you haven't listened to this episode before or are unfamiliar with the events that took place at Medomsley I urge you to listen as it really as one of the most shocking stories you will ever hear.
