“As an American, I have to be very careful to pass judgment [on Ukraine].” In this wide-ranging interview, American diplomat George Kent reflects on Ukrainian civil society’s history of challenging corruption and authorities that overstep their bounds.


The American diplomat who twice served in the United States Embassy in Kyiv (2004-2007; 2015-2018) joins Ukraїner International to discuss American support for Ukraine, the major corruption scandal dubbed “Mindichgate,” and the degree to which Ukraine’s eastern regions and Crimea are integral to contemporary Ukraine.
