The topic is about merchant codes, and how states like California and New York are potentially looking at tracking them for firearm retailers so they can track that you bought a firearm. The problem with this is with retailers like Bass Pro, it would be almost impossible to track whether you bought a firearm or an item like a boat when using merchant codes, so it would be an incredibly hard thing to do. Group after group checked out the spread until finally a group came close enough to shoot at. We pulled up to shoot and Brayden finally got to kill his first duck! Today’s show opens up with Brad diving into his recent ground hunting adventures. He saw 8 deer in a couple hours but unfortunately most of them were outside of bow range. The odd thing is the two small bucks were fighting in January, which is definitely odd for this part of the country! He thought about making a stalk on them while they were tied up but decided not to make the push. The deer are showing back up to the property now but very sporadically, with the season winding down he’s on the clock to put a deer on the ground this season. We then swap over to Brayden who tells us all about an interesting deer trip. He went back to a stand where he killed a couple deer earlier this season. With an injured shoulder he decided to use Phil’s crossbow to make this bow hunt a little easier for him. With a very deery morning deer activity was almost assured. He decided to give a hunt a go anyway but unfortunately it was very slow, besides the fact that a whole bus load of squirrels decided to play tag around his stand. His biggest problem is that he has absolutely no cover at all in the tree he’s in, which has made his spot very difficult to hunt. He went out in some real rough weather with a tornado watch incoming hoping the deer would be moving beforehand. He got into the stand and then unfortunately the lighting started raining down and headed in his direction quickly! A small window opened up so he went back out and proceeded to be down poured on by the rain. He sat through it hoping a deer would show up soon with rain constantly dropping on top of him. It’s a gray area in Kentucky on whether or not you’re allowed to kill a hog or not that definitely needs some clarification. We also talk about other invasive species such as lizards and snakes and how bounties have made some people actually breed the animals to collect the bounties. We also talk about how Kentucky Fish & Wildlife is bouncing around the idea to potentially ban cellular trail cameras. It seems the ban would only affect cellular cameras and not normal SD cameras for now but we all know that's a slippery slope once started.
