In this episode of Unfiltered & Undiscovered, Curly, Braggy and Rossy sit down with Sydney-based artist Chloe Marks for one of the most honest and emotionally open conversations we’ve had on the podcast.Fresh off the release of her powerful new single “Cheaper Than Therapy”, Chloe unpacks the line that instantly stops you in your tracks — “When I get ......, I talk to God” — and explains how songwriting has become a conduit for truth, catharsis, and survival in an industry that often asks artists to give everything without showing the cost.🎵 Songwriting as Survival, Not StrategyChloe speaks candidly about writing songs that don’t aim to be “radio safe” or algorithm-friendly, but emotionally necessary. Her music lives in the uncomfortable corners — faith, doubt, vulnerability, self-medication, and honesty — and she explains why pulling back the filter is sometimes the only way to move forward. The conversation explores how authentic storytelling can feel both liberating and risky, especially for emerging artists navigating visibility, judgment, and expectation in a hyper-connected digital world.❤️ Artist Welfare: The Conversations We Don’t Have EnoughA central theme of this episode is artist welfare — mental health, emotional labour, burnout, and the pressure to constantly “be on.”Chloe shares her lived experience of:The emotional toll of releasing deeply personal musicNavigating validation, criticism, and the noise of social mediaThe expectation for artists to self-manage everything: music, branding, promotion, touring, and mental resilienceThe hosts also reflect on how the industry has evolved — from pub gigs and word-of-mouth to streams, metrics, and constant comparison — and question whether the system truly supports artists beyond content creation.Artist LinksWebsite - https://www.chloemarksmusic.com/ Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/chloemarksmusic Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/chloemarksmusic Spotify - https://open.spotify.com/artist/05bxQJG4B70x2mPla4je8x YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/@chloemarksmusic/featured Copyright Disclaimer:"The Unfiltered & Undiscovered Podcast features interviews and showcases with music artists, along with our Mystery Song Deep Dive segment, which is intended solely for educational and entertainment purposes. As an independent band in this day and age, you have to be a social media guy, a video editor, a strategy guy, your own A&R—and a wrestler.
This one's probably the deepest song I've written—the first song I wrote after the passing of my dad. The EKG at the start is myself flatlining metaphorically, but at the end, I make it through.”

🔥 What We Talk About:
There's a real authenticity around Copperline, and I love that sort of folk experience that you're bringing back into Australian music.
What I've really learned in the last couple of years is to, especially if you're doing original music, see it as a community. There are great people out there doing the same thing that you're doing, and I think you can really draw a lot of strength from becoming part of the community.
My favorite line here is 'digging up old bones and hiding them in songs.'

I want to keep evolving. I want to keep telling my story, keep it really Aussie, but I want to still tweak it so that with the beat or the guitar riff or even a little bit of fiddle in there, we can still grab their attention.
If I can just keep instilling hope through my music and keeping it a really fun atmosphere, all these people are going to connect—through the animals, through the music, through the lyrics—from toddlers right through to the granddad that hasn't been off his place for 12 months.

🔥 What We Talk About:
Your music is like a kaleidoscope of three or four different genres all sort of blended into a blender and what comes out at the end is really quite unique.
I basically let music completely flow through me with no obstacle and no judgment—whatever comes through me from the universe, I allow out with as little judgment as possible.
I put a strong emphasis on my live performances and I really make a serious concerted focus of not relating earning money with music, because I think it puts an agenda on the art form.

This week on Unfiltered & Undiscovered, we sit down with the hard-hitting, truth-slinging country rockers from Rockhampton — Zac Cross Band — fresh off the release of their powerhouse debut album, The Music Lives On.
Zac joins us to unpack the deeply personal journey behind the record — from heartbreak and a life reset, to the healing power of guitars, gravelly vocals, and a comment from Dad that kicked it all off. We talk about resilience, songwriting therapy, and carving a lane between Morgan Wallen and Metallica.
If you’re a sucker for honesty, distortion, and an album that punches from the gut, this one’s for you.
