Today’s Witness Wednesday has two stories I read on Facebook. They are stories of people giving of themselves when they didn’t need to. The first one starts with one young girl's selfless acts and ends with a whole lot of people. The next one is about a man who made a lot of mistakes and yet at the end of his life does something remarkable for a little girl he didn’t even know. I pray that when you hear them, you can see God moving in the world. I pray that when you hear them, you can see that yes, there are a lot of bad things going on in the world, but there is also a lot of good. We need to focus more on the good. We have all seen God working in our lives. Psalm 145:14-18 “The Lord upholds all who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down. The eyes of all look to you, and you give them their food at the proper time. You open your hand and satisfy the desires of every living thing. The Lord is righteous in all his ways and faithful in all he does. The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.” This episode is about how God provides for us and about how important it is to be persistent in our prayers. It talks about a miracle that my parents received. It also talks about how God satisfies the desires of all living things. It also reminds us to praise God in all circumstances, even when we haven't received our answers yet. Psalm 40:1 “I waited and waited and waited some more, patiently, knowing God would come through for me. Then, at last, he bent down and listened to my cry.” Today's episode reminds us that God always hears our prayers and he always comes through for us. It also reminds us that we get to decide how we want to spend that wait. Do we want to spend the time complaining or praising? Psalm 103:8-10 “The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever; he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.” Today's Episode talks about how important it is to know that just because it seems like your prayers are not being answered, it does not mean that God is punishing you. Psalm 95:6-8 “O come, let us worship and bow down, let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker! For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. O that today you would listen to his voice!” Today's episode talks about how the heart of worship is sacrifice. Father Mike Schmitz said, "You can tell how much something means to someone by how much they are willing to sacrifice for it." It invites us to look at our lives and see what we are worshiping with our sacrifices. This episode also talks about the different ways we can hear the Lord's voice. God is talking to us, but often we aren't listening. Today’s Witness is from a very dear friend of mine. It is her testimony of how she forgave someone who did the unthinkable to her. She is a wonderful woman who has such a strong love for Jesus. She is a mother of two kids and a wife. She is a photographer, a karate champion, and so much more! You can hear in her voice just how excited she is for this breakthrough. God is so good! Matthew 18:21-22 “Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?” Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.” Today's episode talks about what forgiveness is and what it is not. It talks about the extreme consequences of unforgiveness. God is going to forgive you as you forgive others. This is really important for all of us to know. It ends with what to do if you are stuck in unforgiveness. What if you really feel as though you can't forgive? What if you don't want to forgive? Luke 1:38 “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her.” Today's episode reminds us how special it was that Mary said yes to the call God had for her. It also shows us plenty of reasons why she probably wouldn't have been the choice of those around her. You don't need everyone to see how special you are. God sees it, and that is enough. When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.” So they called to the blind man, “Cheer up! On your feet! He’s calling you.” Throwing his cloak aside, he jumped to his feet and came to Jesus. “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked him. The blind man said, “Rabbi, I want to see.” “Go,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you.” Immediately, he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.” This episode is about Bartimaeus and how his faith in God cured his blindness. It talks about how we are all being called to have this kind of faith and how you could increase your faith. Esther 4:14 For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?” This episode shows us that no matter what we have done, we can always still turn back to the Lord. It shows us what can happen when we overcome our fears and come to the Lord, even when we don't feel worthy. Be made clean!” Immediately, his leprosy was cleansed. Then Jesus said to him, “See that you say nothing to anyone; but go, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.” Today's episode calls us to be brave like the man with leprosy and to come to the Lord just as we are and ask Him to make us clean! Romans 7:19-20 Paul said, “For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I do. Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I that do it, but sin which dwells within me.” Today's episode reminds us that we all mess up and God loves us anyway. God doesn't expect us to be perfect. It briefly touches on some people in the Bible who messed up and yet God used them powerfully. It also mentions a song that talks about God using those who aren't perfect. John 9:1-3 "As he walked along, he saw a man blind from birth. His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned; he was born blind so that God’s works might be revealed in him.” This verse is a powerful reminder that if we are sick, it is not because God is punishing us for something. God is not the creator of illness. It also shows us that even though God did not make us sick, he can use our sickness for our good.
