Everything in our lives can start to feel urgent, and when that happens, we forget what it truly means to be still and know that He is God. Scripture reminds us that “by waiting and by calm, you shall be saved,” yet the enemy works hard to steal that privilege of stillness.

I talk about how urgency can become a god in our lives—an idol we bow to without realizing it. The devil can’t create anything new; he only distorts what God intended for good. One of his biggest tactics is pushing us to move fast so we don’t slow down long enough to notice God’s presence or listen to His voice.

I also touch on the parable of the sower and how the most dangerous seed is the one swallowed up by thorns—choked out by hurry, worry, and the pressures of life.

And the beautiful truth?

Even while we rush, strive, and stress, God is urgently waiting for us—waiting for us to return to Him, to breathe, to trust, and to rest in His stillness.

You know, when I read the story of Rachel and Leah, I can’t help but see myself in it. Leah spent her whole life trying to earn Jacob’s love, thinking that if she performed enough—if she gave him children, if she proved herself—then maybe she would finally be seen. But here’s the thing: she already had blessings. She just couldn’t see them because she was too distracted by her suffering.

And don’t we do the same thing? How many times have you and I stared so long at what someone else has that we miss the gift God has already placed in our hands? We say, “They stole my chance at success, at love, at joy”—but really, no one can steal what God has already written for you.

Sometimes He allows something to be taken away just so you remember who you are without it. Sometimes He closes a door so you’ll stop prying it open and finally look at the blessing sitting right in front of you. You already have everything you need in Him.

So today, I want to challenge you: How can you overcome envy and replace it with kindness? How can you stop performing for love and start resting in the truth that you’re already chosen, already loved, already seen by God?
