Welcome to a Brain Wrinkling Wednesday with Fr. Tom Koys.  Today Father Koys focuses on what he sees as an Advent challenge.  The quandary being: listening to the positive and optimistic outlook of the prophet Isaiah with the current state of our world and all the bad news.  Father Koys addresses the virtue of Hope in comparison to Optimism.  Father talks about coming into the third week of advent with the lighting of the pink candle leading to rejoicing but does caution us to recall that Advent is a season of penance and laments his believe that too many Catholic forget this aspect of Advent. Lauretta hosts the program today. She welcomes everyone with a recap of her traveling congestion this morning-there was an accident, offering prayers for all involved. Lauretta informs us that today’s focus will be on the Blessed Mother as she discusses the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, which is celebrated today December 8th.  She discusses the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe which is celebrated on Friday December 12th.  Lauretta revels in what a blessing the Virgin Mother truly is for us and encourages us to pray the rosary and seek her intercession. She also chats about St. Nick which was celebrated on Saturday the 6th.  She informs us about Jimmy Lai, a courageous catholic activist for Democracy that is held captive by China. He discusses the need for this devotion in particular and the importance of praying not just for reparations for ourselves but for others as well.  Through their discussion Father also talks about the Children’s Mass this morning where they celebrated the Feast of St. Nick which leads him to recall and shares fond memories/past stories of his interactions with the school children.  St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish

Welcome to a Brain Wrinkling Wednesday with Fr. Tom Koys.  Today Father Koys focuses on an Advent version of WOC. He sets the stage for a deep dive into the weeds of dispensationalism. He uses references to C.S. Lewis’ Narnia and writings at the website Catholic Answers to present his thoughts.  He summarizes that Catholics acknowledge that the church is the spiritual Israel; that in Catholic parlance the Catholic Church is the New Israel.  That leaves the question we need to ask ourselves: Do we embrace Catholicism as a fulfillment of God’s plan for all people of all time?  He does. Dave Carollo joins us live in the studio here in Chicago, on this wonderful Thanksgiving weekend. A time to be grateful and thankful for all in our life, we really need to be a more grateful people. He is joined by Barb Ernster, the National Coordinator for the World Apostolate of Fatima.  Dave leads us in praying and after, together with Barb they talk about the significance of the message of Our Lady of Fatima. They discuss the need and importance of the First Saturdays and the praying of the Rosary.   They inform us regarding their goal of guiding people back to God and how to accomplish that along with the many works and efforts by the World Apostolate of Fatima-the Blue Army.
