Solid earnings by AI chipmaker Nvidia sent stocks surging, but the markets ended up closing in the red, over concerns about a Fed rate cut soon. Today, we learned that Amazon, one of the Magnificent Seven, cut thousands of engineers in its record layoffs. The company announced last month that it would let more than 14 thousand people go. And while the cuts touched almost every piece of the company's business, we now know engineers bore the brunt of the cuts. They made up nearly 40 percent of Amazon's layoffs.
