This is Bill Kelley. Please join me as we hear the word's of Solomon - who many people consider the wisest man who ever lived. We will go over the proverb of the day every day and I will pick a verse (or several) and expound on them. I am believing that, by hearing the wisdom of Solomon, we will become wiser and our lives will begin to improve - as we follow what the word tells us to do.

298. Matthew's Gospel - Chapter #4 May 24, 2023

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 24. I will then key in on verses 17 & 18 - Do not rejoice when your enemy falls, And do not let your heart be glad when he stumbles; Lest the Lord see it, and it displease Him, And He turn away His wrath from him. Let's look at line one - do not rejoice when your enemy falls (remember God loves every single person on Earth - even people who we consider to be our enemies). The next line says to not be glad when he stumbles (see above). The next line is important - lest the Lord see it, and it displease Him (it does not please the Lord when we rejoice when our enemy falls or when our heart is glad when he stumbles). I will then read Luke 6:35. Luke says in this verse to love our enemies - something that is hard to do (but we can do it with the power of the Holy Spirit living on the inside of us). Today, I will continue my study on Matthew's gospel. Today we will take a look at Chapter #4. I will read verses 1-4. These verses tell us the, immediately after being baptized in the River Jordan, he was led into the wilderness by the Holy Spirit. After not eating for 40 days and 40 nights, Jesus was hungry. He was tempted by satan three times. I will then go to 1st John Chapter 2 & read verses 15-17. These verses define the three categories of temptation that satan can tempt us with. We need to be aware of them. Of utmost importance is that you understand that after each temptation Jesus responded by quoting the Word of God. Friends, we can do the same thing today. When we are tempted by satan, and we will be tempted, we can respond with, "It is written!" Call to Action - For just a moment, I want you to close your eyes and picture Jesus dying on that cross for you (knowing that our sins would be forgiven because of what He did that day). Suggested scripture reading: 1. reread today's proverb, Proverb 24 in its entirety; 2. Reread Matthew's gospel, chapter #4 in its entirety.
