Shayaan Haider is making skyways for drones — The Blueprint

Part 2

In 2019, Amazon delivered 2.3 billion packages in the US alone. If even 1% of those are delivered by drones in the future, we could be looking at over 65,000 drones in the sky every day. That’s not even including other logistics companies like FedEx and UPS.

TL;DR that’s a shit ton of air traffic in the next 5-10 years — AirMatrix wants to help manage it. We talk to co-founder and head of product Shayaan Haider about:

  • The assumptions you have to make when starting a company
  • Where the real opportunities in the drone industry are
  • Running a startup during a global pandemic

We’ll also chat about finding the right environments to innovate, the human economics of risk-taking, and entrepreneurship as a path for young South Asian people
