Seven years ago, five elementary students met in my office on a Saturday to play a game that I made up "The Scholarship Search Party". The point of the game was to help them learn a large amount of information about college finances in a short period of time, and for it to be fun! It worked and soon every time we got together there were more and more students. Eventually, we started meeting online using teleconferences since students wanted to join us from across the country. Plus we'd gotten too big to meet in anyone's office! We then tried to harness the program using REMIND, google classroom, and a FaceBook group. Finally, on our launch date, November 5, 2022, we will simplify everything and put all our content in one place. Getting scholarships is confusing enough! We want to be helpful and by offering weekly episodes on all things scholarships we can help many people in a more efficient manner. We'll cover three main categories - scholarship essays, scholarship resumes, and leadership & service, plus our overarching theme of power - economic power gained by young college students who successfully avoid student loan debt! We'll also engage the academic community and professionals from a variety of careers so students can learn what the experts in their field have to say about charting a debt-free path into any chosen profession. Little Elm Mayor Curtis Cornelious calls our program a "movement". I agree.
Remember: We're All In This Together.
You Can't Miss Every Scholarship. All You Can Miss Are Deadlines.
