السنة النبوية المطهرة هى المصدر الثانى للتشريع الإسلامى
بعد كتاب الله تعالى، وهى وحى من الله تعالى بنص القرآن الكريم الذى قال: «وما ينطق عن الهوى» والسنة النبوية هى الحكمة المذكورة فى قول الله تعالى: «كَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا فِيكُمْ رَسُولًا مِنْكُمْ يَتْلُو عَلَيْكُمْ آيَاتِنَا وَيُزَكِّيكُمْ وَيُعَلِّمُكُمُ الْكِتَابَ وَالْحِكْمَةَ وَيُعَلِّمُكُمْ مَا لَمْ تَكُونُوا تَعْلَمُونَ»، وهى داخلة فى مفهوم الذكر الذى تكفل الله بحفظه إلى يوم القيامة فى قوله تعالى: «إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا الذِّكْرَ وَإِنَّا لَهُ لَحَافِظُونَ».
