Wanneer de 47-jarige Amersfoorter Hanno van Mil op 12 april 2014 vermist raakt, belandt zijn gezin in een onwerkelijke film. Zijn 11-jarige zoon vindt de volgende middag hun auto terug bij de Pyramide van Austerlitz. De Volkswagen Passat is nog open, de sleuteltjes zitten in het contact en ook zijn telefoon ligt er gewoon. Negen jaar later lijkt  er van Hanno nog steeds geen spoor.  Podcastmaker Dija Kabba volgt journalist Iris van den Boom in haar pogingen meer te weten te komen over de raadselachtige vermissing van deze liefhebbende vader en de gevolgen voor de achterblijvers. Maar al snel wil de familie van Hanno niet mee werken en hangt de podcast aan een zijden draadje. Steeds meer vraagt Dija zich af: hoe ver kunnen we eigenlijk gaan in onze zoektocht?
