Rodrigo Hill from Brazil and Xavier Meade from Mexico take turn-about on Sunday nights to broaden our musical horizon playing African derived rhythms from West Africa, Cuba, and Brazil. They also journey to Mexico, the rest of Latino America and beyond.
Rodrigo started the show after being inspired by Xavier's original show Viva la Musica which played on Raglan Community Radio in the early 2000s. Musical Journeys was also inspired by another Raglan show called Across 110th Street which itself was inspired by Viva la Musica.
Musical Journeys is a fusion of these original Radio shows and at the same time a continuation, a way to share and pay respect to various cultural and musical movements from across the globe.
Across 110th St is back on Raglan Community Radio, streaming in from NYC, and Xavier has completed the circle, joining the Musical Journeys show in 2021.
Tune in every Sunday from 6 - 7:30pm and replaying Wednesdays 4:30 - 6pm.
Kurt Cobain’s influence went beyond just the music he created with Nirvana. He also put the masses on to some of his own favorite artists. One particular document from his journals has been instructive to many fans – his top 50 albums. Each week, The Cobain 50 podcast digs into albums from this famous list and how they may have influenced Cobain and Nirvana. While learning the individual histories of the different albums on the list, we gain new insights into artists on the fringes as well as some of the biggest groups of all time. The podcast takes us through the legacies of acts like Sonic Youth, Pixies, The Breeders, Public Enemy, PJ Harvey, Black Flag, Mazzy Star, The Shaggs, Shonen Knife, and more. Episodes drop weekly starting January 10, 2024.
Instrumental explores the hidden stories of musical instruments. From ancient bone flutes to modern synthesisers, it reveals how instruments shape culture, technology, and human expression. Rooted in organology - the study of how instruments are made, function, and evolve - the podcast educates, inspires, preserves endangered traditions, and celebrates global diversity. Through expert voices, rich storytelling, and sometimes the sounds of the instruments themselves, Instrumental invites listeners to discover instruments, their makers, their stories, and their players.

You may have heard of Will Rogers, the "cowboy philosopher". I would love to have his title, but I am neither a "cowboy" nor a "philosopher". I am a "cowboy at heart" and i tell stories through my songs that hopefully touch on some version of truth that speaks to, yet transcends the cowboy way of life. But that's for you, as the listener to decide. Hopefully, my stories and songs stimulate further reflection that allow you to explore more fully your own truths for your life.
