    Boring History for Sleep
    Velvet
Welcome to Boring History to Sleep — the only show where falling asleep in the middle is not only allowed… it’s encouraged. Each episode takes you on a slow, uneventful stroll through the most yawn-worthy corners of the past: treaties nobody remembers, kings who ruled for three weeks, and revolutions that never really got started. Delivered in the softest, most sleep-inducing voice we could find, this show is like warm milk with a side of ancient trivia. Perfect for insomniacs, history nerds, and anyone who thinks a Roman tax policy discussion sounds like a lullaby. Lay back, close your eyes

    The Bulletproof Musician
    Noa Kageyama
We all get stuck on problem passages from time to time. And it can be very natural to simply throw more repetitions at it, in hopes that this will eventually unlock something. But in doing so, we end up accumulating more and more incorrect repetitions and reinforcing mistakes. So what’s the alternative? A new study took a rare, close-up, repetition by repetition look at how artist-level musicians practice difficult passages. And it identified some key similarities in how they approach problem...

    VoxDev Development Economics
    VoxDev.org
Workfare schemes, designed as an alternative to more traditional social benefit programmes, are increasingly popular in developing countries. India’s National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS), one of the world’s largest workfare programmes, has been celebrated for leading to increased wages in rural areas. Yet research by Bryce Millet Steinberg and Manisha Shah finds that the programme has unintended consequences for children. In this VoxDevTalk, Steinberg discusses how the research team used multiple household surveys to uncover how the scheme’s promise of wages leads to increased labour demand. In turn, this increases the opportunity cost of remaining in school, with particularly large consequences for adolescents. These findings suggest the value of pairing workfare programmes with complementary policies to incentivise human capital investment.

People Who Read People: A Behavior and Psychology Podcast
    Zachary Elwood
This is a podcast about deciphering human behavior and understanding why people do the things they do. I, Zach Elwood, talk with people from a wide range of fields about how they make sense of human behavior and psychology. I've talked to jury consultants, interrogation professionals, behavior researchers, sports analysts, professional poker players, to name a few. There are more than 135 episodes, many of them quite good (although some say I'm biased). To learn more, go to PeopleWhoReadPeople.com.
