Medio siglo después, Marruecos continúa ocupando el Sáhara Occidental y más de 170.000 exiliados saharauis viven en los campamentos de refugiados de Tinduf, en Argelia. 'La Provincia 53' es una serie documental de Onda Cero Podcast narrada por Carlos Alsina que cuenta la historia de la última colonia española y que, a través de más de una veintena de entrevistas con historiadores, periodistas, militares y exiliados saharauis, profundiza en las circunstancias que llevaron al gobierno español a abandonar no solo el territorio, sino también a un pueblo, el saharaui, que después de cincuenta años de represión y guerra continúa luchando por decidir su destino.
