It is that time of year again when Laurel and Sam sit down to chat about some of the incredible conversations. They had this past season with guests that quickly became friends as the conversations unfolded.
We recap talking about becoming an entrepreneur and wishing we had known about the work Shelagh does (@shelaghcummins). We know that when we are feeling sad or overwhelmed and need some support that we can always call on Kirsten (@tlclifecoaching). We acknowledge two wonderful individuals who brought us together with without even necessarily knowing that that's what they were doing, Jodie (@themotherlode) and Judie (@judienotjodie). There are so many reflections in this episode.
Our third season found us taking more opportunities to slow down and record times when we have connected with one another about what's been going on in our lives, about the guests we've spoken to and breaking down some of the feelings that we've had about some of our episodes.
So far, season three is up there in our top three seasons that we've been putting this show together.
We wish you an amazing and sunny summer. Be good to one another. Treat yourself with kindness, love and respect.

Did you know that seemingly innocuous traumatic physical events in our lives can manifest in our fascia, causing chronic pain many, many years after the original event? Once the body heals on the outside people believe that the trauma has healed and gone; never to be felt again.
Today we have the opportunity to introduce you to Nelin Krull, RP and Myofascial Release Therapist. We learn more about long-term and ongoing healing patterns that can be set even decades after an injury occurs (that includes that time you fell off your bike when you were a child or were in a simple MVC as a teen).
You can learn more about Nelin and the work that she does by visiting their website: https://www.myofascialmississauga.com, find them at one of their pop-up treatment events throughout the summer and watch their feed on Instagram @@myofascialmississauga If you do not live near her or any of the spots that they will be hosting their pop-ups then visit https://mfrtherapists.com to find a specialist near you.

Deciding to start a family for anyone can be frightening. Add to that being a member of the Queer community and you: increase fear about discrimination, add worry about sourcing gametes and understand that it is a process that takes time and money.
Today we have the opportunity to talk with BBB cohost Sam Leeson- about the first ever 2SLGBTQIA+ family planning event, “becoming babyREADY,” being hosted at The 519 at 519 Church St. in Toronto the morning of Saturday, June 8 from 9 AM until noon.
Learn from lawyers and fertility specialists, naturopath, and psychotherapist. This is the opportunity to get the answers to the questions you didn't even know you had.
And this isn't in your wheelhouse, but you know someone in the queer community who would benefit from learning more, direct them to Sam's website: www.babyREADY.info or have them find her on social media @babyREADYlgbtq @The519 @PollinFertility @minigiantsinc

If you have watched the series “9 Perfect Strangers,” then you have been introduced to the concept of micro-dosing. While it wasn't legitimized in this series, the concept was at least introduced so that viewers had an initiation into the thought process.
We are not here to tell you that should or should not try it. But today we have the chance to introduce you to Kathleen Oh, and she answers some our questions so that you have an idea what a psilocybin is.
It’s important to also remember that mushrooms are really good for you. And current research is linking the use of them with more and more efficacy in certain cases, for certain people, with certain mental health concerns.

In this second part of our conversation with Shelagh Cummins, we have the opportunity to spend a little bit of time talking about how it is OK for women to want to smash their glass ceilings!
This week we talk actual numbers. We talk actual statistics. We talk about the amount of money and entrepreneur would need to make for their business in order to be able to take home the amount of revenue that they would like to see in their bank account. Suffice it to say that you want to be in the 12% she describes, instead of the 88%

“Business is a blend of art and science.”
“What are you pretending not to know that is stopping you from getting the results that you want?”
These two mind blowing statements are at the root of the conversation that Laurel and I are able to have in part one of our conversation today with business owner and entrepreneur Shelagh Cummins. Just because you have not been physically, emotionally, sexually or financially assaulted by a partner doesn’t mean that you can’t appreciate what an overwhelming horror it would be to live in such a situation.
Today we talk about this very topic with Robin Read. Robin’s personality is one that attracts people to her just as it is also her personality to want to do whatever she can in her community to make the world a better place. She thrives on supporting organizations in our community, such as Halton Women’s Place, to raise awareness and resources to help women eliminate their fear of being physically and financially trapped in a dangerous space.

“You can be anything you dream of being.” This is the mantra that we hear throughout our childhoods and we set our sights on lofty goals.
Becoming Mayor to a medium-sized city may not have been something that Marianne Meed Ward specifically wanted to be as a child. What she DID know was that she wanted to make the world a better place. She wanted to help people. Support people. Create a healthy and respectful community in which she and everyone else would comfortably live.
Today we have the honour of connecting with Burlington, Ontario Mayor, Marianne Meed Ward about the ins and outs, pros and challenges of being a woman in a man-centred role and succeeding wildly at it!

Today we are speaking with Kelley Gibson, co-owner of inkling design. Over 10 years experience in website, creation and code writing. Kelly is able to answer these questions and more. Whether it is the things we buy, the relationships we engage in, the places in which we feel we need to take up space, our attachments may negatively affect the quality of our lives.
Make no mistake though, attachment in and of itself is not inherently bad or negative. Sometimes the relationships we have with people, places and things can be deep and profound thus completely attached and healthy. It is unhealthy when our attachment ends up hindering our personal growth, health and well-being.
Confused yet? It can feel like a lot to sort out the differences between the good/healthy and the bad/negative.

Wanting to have an emotionally, financially and physically prosperous life is great . . . in theory. How do we go about that though?
Today we are speaking again with Heidi Martin of Heidi Martin Wellness and this time she and Laurel discuss exactly that. What are the key elements we need to sincerely adopt before we will be prosperous.
Before you go to bed at night allow yourself to feel as though the universe will protect you and provide you with what you need.
Pay it forward. When you can do something for the unseen person behind you, do it. Leave them with the feeling that they, in turn, want to do something good for the person behind THEM. Kindness begets kindness.
Flip your belief towards your bills. Allow yourself to honestly reflect upon what you need versus what you want and bring that in line with what you know you can truly afford.
Listen to the messages from the universe when you don’t respect enough the need for down time too so that you have balance.
If you want to bring prosperity into your life then watch what you are saying to yourself. Stop complaining and criticizing yourself endlessly. Open yourself to believe that the universe will provide for you and that you fully deserve it.
Be thankful for all that you have.

Since we first aired this conversation in March 2022, Brianne Jenner and her teammates from Team Canada as well as her peers with Team USA and others have worked tirelessly to create the PWHL (Professional Women's Hockey League) with the inaugural game played on Monday, January 01, 2024.
Throughout this podcast episode you will hear the determination in Brianne's voice to create a brighter and better hockey world for the young women coming behind her and all of her peers have done just that!
Since the time that the episode aired, Brianne and her wife have celebrated parenting not only sweet June (whom she speaks about) but they have also welcomed twins to their family this past fall.
Make sure to remind all of the young women and girls you know that the world is their oyster and they need only stay convicted to their dreams to make them a reality.
