Creative CEO is a podcast for artists and creative people who desire to become their own boss and make money from their creativity. Hosted by me, Georgie Turner, an art teacher turned full time artist. As I build my own art business from the ground up, I am taking you on the journey with me, offering real world advice on what's working as an artist on social media, how to sell art online, marketing your art work and building sustainable creative income streams. I'm doing this alongside juggling babies, country living, a family home and horses, so if you want realistic advice from a female founder who is trying to 'do it all', you've come to the right place! Expect brutal honestly, a bit of oversharing, interesting conversations with guests and a safe space for you to feel like you're not alone.

Artist Mindset: Dealing with Pressure in Your Creative Business

In this episode I talk all about the pressures of running an art business, whether that's keeping up with your competition, the pressure to post on social media or joining in with Black Friday sales. I also talk about why it's good to sometimes put the pressure on and when it's important to take it off. This comes from my experience in November where it all got too much and I had to press pause on marketing my art business (whilst quietly putting equal pressure on myself to complete commissions!). I hope this episode helps anyone who finds themselves feeling in a state of pressure at any time in their art business.

Turn Your Art Into Unlimited Earning Potential

I'm so excited to talk all about fine art prints and the journey I have taken over the last four years, from incredible FLOPS and incredible triumphs which led me to put all of my experience into a downloadable print guide.

In this episode I talk about my first set of prints that did okay, the second set of prints that flopped so spectacularly that they ended up in the bin and subsequent print drops with mixed results. I discuss my experience with getting digital files made, printing at home and using a professional service. I hope you enjoy listening to my story and if you are keen to get started, here are the links to my print guide:

Maybe it was too honest.. but I'm here to be authentic and transparent about the realities of building an art business!

Supporting Yourself Financially Through Your Art

This week I interviewed fellow equestrian artist and Mum, Rhia about her life running her art business. Rhia has been in the business for 10 years and was so successful, she was able to get a mortgage with the money she earned from drawing horses! I have learnt so much from this conversation and I'm excited for you to listen.

Posting Less on Social Media as an Artist

I hit rock bottom and realised that what led me to this point wasn't just my toddler going through the terrible 2's, but putting pressure on myself to post every single day. After some self reflection I've re-considered what consistency can look like for me in my current life at home and work. In this episode I share some ideas on how you can make small consistent incremental changes to your day to have a compound effect over time.

The Truth About Being Self Employed as an Artist

It's been 6 months since I've been completely self employed (and 5 years since I started my art business). After a week of socialising with new and old friends for my sister's wedding, one key phrase kept coming out of my mouth - I'm so happy. I wanted to reflect on this and bring you an honest episode all about being self employed, both the great parts and the challenges. Please subscribe to my podcast and leave me a review - I'd love to know your opinions on this topic. Thank you for listening, Georgie x

Using Client Work for Content Ideas

For my first ever guest interview, I chatted to equine photographer Martha Lily about her own business journey which started aged 15! I took so much away from this interview, including:

  • How to set boundaries and limitations when working with clients
  • Putting yourself in your clients shoes to help with content creation
  • Not having a routine can be a blessing
  • Having the mentality of 'done is better than perfect' will ease the risk of burnout (and still lead to an award!!)

Martha takes me through her journey from taking on the event photography side of her business from an early age, branching into client shoots and also going back into full time education whilst running a business. Martha has so many good points to raise about what it's truly like being self employed and some valuable advice when it comes to working with clients.

I truly loved this conversation (and I loved being an interviewer!). I hope you like this one, please don't forget to leave a review x
