November 15 Daily Reading- Read the Bible in 1 Year
If you would like to download my FREE calendar for keeping track of your commitment to read the Bible every day, you can find that on my site, here: https://www.inthefamilywaycoaching.com/pages/read-the-bible-in-1-year Monthly memberships to support this event can be purchased on my site, here: https://www.inthefamilywaycoaching.com/offering_packages Today we will complete the letter Paul wrote to the Romans with Chapter 15:1-7, 13-15, 23, 25-26, 28, 30-33 and Chapter 16:1-24, 27. Today Paul will conclude his letter to the community in Rome by reminding the readers of the most important points of his letter. Paul was very passionate about building unity within God's communities. He reminded us as we read his letter today that we are not just to try and make ourselves happy or serve ourselves because not even Jesus tried to make himself happy! instead, Jesus taught us that if we want to be considered great among one other then we need to serve one another. We, being readers of Paul's letter, are to receive the same teaching. Paul also warned the readers about people who start fights between believers, pointing out that those people are not serving Jesus, but are serving themselves!  Lastly, Paul shared his desire for God's communities to be wise about what is good and not to have anything to do with what is sinful. In our discussion for daily application we will talk about being transformed by the renewing of our mind. Sinful thoughts, such as those started by people who want to start fights, pave the way for division within God's body of believers. We need to be mindful of anything that causes us to be divisive. Instead, we need to pay attention to every opportunity to foster unity between one another, such as when I shared that I look for identifying signs such as jewelry or tattoos of crosses, Bible verses, etc. that people wear that let me know they are a believer, and then strike up a conversation with that person, commenting that we are one in the body of believers.  As we close our reading session today I pray "that God will help you work together to follow Jesus so that it will seem like you have one heart and together you can show God's greatness. Amen!"  If you enjoyed today's reading and feel like God has lit YOUR light please click the LIGHT button (it looks like a thumbs up or a heart) and consider subscribing to or following my channel, if you have not done so already. It will include Chapter 13:1,3-14 and Chapter 14:1-14, 17-19, and 22-23. Today Paul will tell us about why we need to choose to do what is right- not because we are are afraid of getting in trouble for doing what is wrong, but because doing what is right is what God wants us to do and we will feel better when we do what is right. Paul let's us in on a helpful hint: that love helps us obey God's laws.  In our discussion for daily application we will talk about a wonderful gift that God has given us- the gift of free will. God does not force us to do what is right. He allows us to choose. As we grow spiritually we need to make more decisions based on our understanding of what is right and wrong. Paul previously taught us about the battle that is going on inside us between God's Spirit and our body to do what is right. As we grow in our understanding of knowing God and knowing what He wants us to do we need to use our free will to choose to do what is right because it is the right thing to do, not because we feel we have to, like we did when we were less spiritually mature. (notice how these decisions have little to do with physical maturity (our age), but with spiritual maturity.)  If you enjoyed today's reading and feel like God has lit YOUR light please click the LIGHT button (it looks like a thumbs up or a heart) and consider subscribing to or following my channel, if you have not done so already. It will include Chapter 11:1-5, 7-8, 11-12, 17-26, 28-29, 33-34, 36 and Chapter 12:1-2, 4-21. Today we will read more about God's divine plan to bring the good news to the Gentile nations through the rejection of  Jesus by the Jewish people. Paul will give us a beautiful picture of unity, telling us how we are all grafted into God's olive tree and reassuring us that the Jewish people are going to be rejoined to the tree when they believe in Jesus.  Paul will also encourage us to work together as a united body, using the spiritual gifts we have each been given to do the good works God has called us do. As an added bonus, we win over sin by doing good!  In our discussion for daily application we will talk about unity- unity with God because He has put His Spirit within us, unity as one olive tree with many branches, unity with each other in spirit because we all share God's Holy Spirit within us, unity in mind because we have the mind of Jesus, unity in body, as we are all different parts of the same body of believers. We will talk about God's ministry of reconciliation and how it actually goes much deeper than just reconciling believers to Himself. Jesus taught us that a house divided cannot stand. We are meant to be ONE WITH EACH OTHER and part of God's ministry of reconciliation is to reconcile believers to one another, too! God has done this for us with His Holy Spirit, but we need to actively seek unity between one another, remembering all the ways in which we are truly ONE with each other.  If you enjoyed today's reading and feel like God has lit YOUR light please click the LIGHT button (it looks like a thumbs up or a heart) and consider subscribing to or following my channel, if you have not done so already. Today we will read about and discuss God's wonderful love for us. God loves us so much that He sent His Son to die for our sins, but did you also know that God makes everything turn out for our good? He does! He does this for people who love and follow Him!  Is this information new to you? Are you wondering how YOU can you follow God and have all these amazing benefits? It's easy! God's Word is already near you! You just need to believe and say with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord." Believe that God made made Jesus come back to life after He died for your sins. When you believe with your heart and say with your mouth that you believe then YOU ARE SAVED! And guess what?!  God and Jesus love YOU! God is on your side! We say that He is for us. And if God for us, then who can possibly be against us? Nothing! No one!  This means that there is absolutely NOTHING that can separate God's love from YOU, not ever! Hallelujah! (Praise the Lord!) We will cover Chapter 5:1-4, 6-11, Chapter 6:1-6, 9-13, 15-18, 21-23, and Chapter 7:5-7, 10, 15, 17, 21-25. Today we will learn about the depth of the meaning of the word Shalom and how it relates to the struggles we have inside us as the sinful body fights against the Holy Spirit that God has placed within us who tell us what is sin, and to avoid doing sinful things as well as how we have shalom despite difficult earthly struggles. In our discussion for daily application we will talk about how despite this internal struggle (or any other earthly difficulties!) all can be well with our soul because of this shalom that God has given us through Jesus. We will also talk about choosing who we will serve- our sinful self or God. We cannot serve both the sinful nature of ourselves and God. Since we are no longer slaves to sin we therefore choose to serve God. Our bodies have become the temple of the Living God. That means that our body is God's House, so we need to choose every day who we will serve. "As for me and my house (body) (I) will serve the Lord."  We will also read Horatio Spafford's hymn It is Well With My Soul . We will talk about claiming this gift of shalom that Jesus gives us and USING IT, not just being aware of it with head knowledge, to live out our faith the way Horatio Spafford did, when he wrote the beloved hymn after the death of two of his children and the loss of his financial investments that he had made just one day prior to the Great Chicago Fire. We will cover Chapter 2:1-11, 25-29, Chapter 3:1-2, 9-31, and Chapter 4:1-8, 13, 17, and 19-25. Today we will read about how faith in God is what makes us right with God, not attempting to follow the Law, because no one is perfect. No one can follow the law completely. We will read about how Abraham was made right with God because he believed God's promises to him and trusted God to fulfill His Word. In our discussion for daily application we will talk about how trustworthy God is and how we h have seen God's faithfulness throughout the year as we have been reading the Bible. With the same faithfulness that God has always had in other people's lives, we can trust Him to be faithful in OUR lives, no matter how "bad" situations look. Nothing is impossible for God. Nothing is too hard for Him. It is impossible to please God without faith in Him. Trusting in God is one of THE VERY MOST IMPORTANT THINGS WE CAN DO. We will read Acts chapter 20:1-3, and begin the book of Paul's letter to the Romans Chapter 1:7, 10, 13, and 15-32. Today we will read and learn about correction within the the Body of Believers and how it is both necessary and must be done correctly- with the goals of reconciliation with God and other believers as well as building up the one(s) being corrected. In our discussion for daily application we will talk about the importance of correction being given in a Godly way, IN LOVE, making sure it is being given from MESSIAH, not from ourselves, that we do so with two or three witnesses, making sure that we are not condemning or tearing one another down but are building one another up. So often we can give our correction the goal of shaming or condemnation when God has shown so many times that He is GENTLE with us, seeking restoration and reconciliation with us. he is not looking to try and shame us. We are to be imitators of God even in the ways we speak to one another about correction of sin.  If you enjoyed today's reading and feel like God has lit YOUR light please click the LIGHT button (it looks like a thumbs up or a heart) and consider subscribing to or following my channel, if you have not done so already. Paul reminds us that when we give it should be because we want to, not because we feel forced or that we have to. God loves it when we give cheerfully, not out of obligation. We will also read about what it means to "boast in the Lord," or to "brag about God." Paul reminds us today that although we live in the world we do not fight the way the world does because our power that we fight with comes from God. And what are we fighting against? Paul tells us that we fight against anything that comes against knowing God. We do so by catching every thought and making it obey Jesus. In our discussion for daily application we will break down what it means to brag about God by reading Jeremiah 9:23, where God Himself tells us that if anyone wants to brag, it should be about knowing and understand God because God exercises lovingkindness, justice, and righteousness on the earth and He DELIGHTS IN THESE THINGS.  Paul told us that we fight against anything that comes against knowing God, which means we fight against anything that is the OPPOSITE of what God delights in. The opposite of what God delights in is hate, unfairness, sinful behaviors. The power we fight with comes from God. What have we received from God? HIS HOLY SPIRIT. This power FROM GOD, Paul tells us today, TEARS DOWN SATAN'S STRONGHOLDS (aka, sinful behaviors.) Jesus taught us that HE HAS SET US FREE FROM SIN, and that IF THE SON HAS SET US FREE (from sin) THEN WE ARE REALLY FREE!! This means that we, through GOD'S POWER, are able to catch every thought and make it obey Jesus, Paul tells us today. So let us catch our thoughts and make them obey Jesus, with lovingkindness, justice (fairness) and righteousness, and then we can brag about knowing and understanding God, something God tells us we CAN brag about.  If you enjoyed today's reading and feel like God has lit YOUR light please click the LIGHT button (it looks like a thumbs up or a heart) and consider subscribing to or following my channel, if you have not done so already. We will read about remembering God's promises and looking up to God as being motivation to become right and good. Lastly, we will read about generosity and helping one another out of our abundance.  In our discussion for daily application we will talk about how God provides EVERYTHING we need for us. Today Paul will teach us that we are not the same as we were when first became believers; we are changing every day to become more and more like God and Jesus!  In our discussion for daily application we will talk about this amazing transformation and what it means for us personally. We have a very personal God, not a general god. Our God has put His Spirit into each one of us to guarantee us of the new life we will have forever. Until we receive that promise in full He has given us His Holy Spirit as a promise. Part of what the Holy Spirit does for us is transform us into the likeness of God, so that we put away the old behaviors that we used to have to adopt new, right, Godly behaviors. This also means that we don't look at other believers as though they were still the same old person. This means we have grace and patience with them as they grow in God. No one is completely transformed over night- not us and not anyone else, either. So when we look at other people we need to remember they are a work in progress and have the same grace and patience with them that God has with us, as we are also in the process of being transformed into His likeness.  If you enjoyed today's reading and feel like God has lit YOUR light please click the LIGHT button (it looks like a thumbs up or a heart) and consider subscribing to or following my channel, if you have not done so already. Today we will read about sharing in one another's struggles as well as the comfort we receive from God's love and kindness. Paul reminded the Corinthians that they helped him during his troubles by praying for him. Paul also encouraged forgiveness to be given to the person in Corinth who made both him and the other believers in Corinth sad. Paul advised them that the community needed to remind the offending person how much they loved him so that he would not be overly sad and so that Satan would not outwit them.  In our discussion for daily application we will talk about the importance of sharing in one another struggles, bearing one another's burdens, and also being able to share in the comfort that the Holy Spirit gives to them (and us!). We will be encouraged to pray for one another, since it is helpful for those going through difficult times. We will also be reminded to forgive one another because Jesus forgave us. We need to practice forgiveness with one another so that Satan does not cause division between believers.   If you enjoyed today's reading and feel like God has lit YOUR light please click the LIGHT button (it looks like a thumbs up or a heart) and consider subscribing to or following my channel, if you have not done so already. Today we will read about why we matter and why the work God gives us to do matters! (spoiler alert: BECAUSE JESUS REALLY DID DIE FOR OUR SINS AND COME BACK TO LIFE ON THE THIRD DAY AND WE WILL LIVE AGAIN, TOO!) In our discussion for daily application we will talk about how the adversary loves to tell us that we don't matter, that what we are doing doesn't matter, is a waste of time, and isn't doing any good. And then we will talk about how YOU MATTER, I MATTER, THE WORK GOD GIVES US TO DO MATTERS, and like Paul encouraged us today, we need to keep strong faith, be brave, be strong, and do everything in love. Don't be discouraged or give up. YOU MATTER and the work God has given you to do matters, even if you can't see the fruit of your labor. We can remember Abraham, who never got to see how all nations would be saved through him, but he believed God and it was credited to him as righteousness. We, too, can trust God and have faith in God to know that not only did Jesus die and return to life, but so will we. Because of this truth, we know that none of the work we do for God is for nothing!  If you enjoyed today's reading and feel like God has lit YOUR light please click the LIGHT button (it looks like a thumbs up or a heart) and consider subscribing to or following my channel, if you have not done so already. Today we will read about what Paul calls, "The BEST way" to live out our spiritual gifts- IN LOVE, using our gifts FOR EACH OTHER!  In our discussion for daily application we will talk about how love should be the foundation for everything we do. Everything we do, we need to do it WITH LOVE. Every spiritual gift we have we need to be thinking of how we can use it to help one another, not for how we can spotlight ourselves. The goal is to spotlight Jesus and God! We will also talk about how these are not new ways to live; they are the very foundation of everything God has ever given us as rules for living. We have ALWAYS been taught that the greatest laws are to love the Lord our God with all of our hearts, minds, and souls, and to love one another as ourselves. This is not new teaching, it is just expanding our understanding so that we know how to behave and live with one another while using the tools that God has given us the correct way.  If you enjoyed today's reading and feel like God has lit YOUR light please click the LIGHT button (it looks like a thumbs up or a heart) and consider subscribing to or following my channel, if you have not done so already. November 1 Daily Reading- Read the Bible in 1 Year
If you would like to download my FREE calendar for keeping track of your commitment to read the Bible every day, you can find that on my site, here: https://www.inthefamilywaycoaching.com/pages/read-the-bible-in-1-year Monthly memberships to support this event can be purchased on my site, here: https://www.inthefamilywaycoaching.com/offering_packages Today's we will continue reading Paul's first letter to the Corinthians with Chapter 9:1, 3-11, 13-27  and Chapter 10:1, 5-15, 23-28, and 31-33. Today we will read about Paul's encouragement that God will always provide a way out of any sinful situation so that we do not have to commit the same sins that people have committed over and over throughout the years. We have the record of the Old Testament written down for us so that we can learn from the situations people have encountered and the sins they committed. Indeed, through our daily reading this year and our daily applications we have discussed these sins and talked about how we can avoid the same ones!  Once again, in today's reading, Paul will elaborate on WHY it is important for us to be careful and not allow our freedom to be a stumbling block to anyone else's faith. In our discussion for daily application we will tie together the many things we have learned this year in our reading of the Bible: not repeating the sins we have learned about this year - they are not unique struggles only for us, the fact that God always gives us a way to say no to sinful choices/behavior, our being set free from the sinful nature by Jesus, using that freedom to be thoughtful of those who may see us doing things that they think may be sinful, and finally, I will share my testimony of an example how God tied ALL these applications into my own life recently!  If you enjoyed today's reading and feel like God has lit YOUR light please click the LIGHT button (it looks like a thumbs up or a heart) and consider subscribing to or following my channel, if you have not done so already. Today we will read about some answers to questions that the Corinthians had written to Paul- should they marry or stay unmarried? Should they divorce their unbelieving spouses since they had come to faith in Jesus but their spouse had not? And lastly, was it okay to eat food that had been sacrificed to idols?  In our discussion for daily application we will talk about Paul's advice not do things that we are free to do, such as eating food sacrificed to idols, if doing so would cause someone with weaker faith, who thought it was wrong, to sin. We will talk about how this is relevant in our own lives today with regard to continuing yesterday's teaching, where Paul told us that he and the other disciples felt they were on display, and so they were careful not to do things that would cause another believer to sin.  Today I will share my real life example of how God has been using yesterday's and today's reading and daily application in my life. I will share about the difficulty I have with my daughter at home and how I choose to imitate Paul by doing what I am teaching in our daily application and not taking action against my daughter in court so that the resolution I might have taken with her through the public courts would not potentially cause any other believer to sin. October 30 Daily Reading- Read the Bible in 1 Year
If you would like to download my FREE calendar for keeping track of your commitment to read the Bible every day, you can find that on my site, here: https://www.inthefamilywaycoaching.com/pages/read-the-bible-in-1-year Monthly memberships to support this event can be purchased on my site, here: https://www.inthefamilywaycoaching.com/offering_packages Today's we will continue reading Paul's first letter to the Corinthians with Chapter 3:1-7, 16-20, Chapter 4:6-14, 16-20, Chapter 5:1-3, 9-13, and Chapter 6: 1-7, 9-13, 15, 18-20 Today we will read about a list of many behaviors that Paul was concerned about occurring within the Corinthian community. Paul addressed the inappropriateness of bragging about spiritual gifts and explained why believers need to take disputes to other believers for resolution rather than to the courthouse where their dispute will be judged by a non believer. Paul explained that when we do this, nobody wins.  Paul spent a lot of time discussing sinning with the body and how this should be especially avoided because our bodies are the temple for God's Spirit; God's Spirit lives in each of us! God paid for our bodies with Jesus' blood, so our bodies do not belong to just us anymore! Therefore, we need to show God how great we think He is by the way we act with our bodies.  In our discussion for daily application we will talk about Paul's request to imitate him and how important it is for us to mind our behavior, imitating Jesus and other mature believers, so that we can provide good examples for people and do our best not to lead other people astray by providing examples of bad behavior for others to follow.  If you enjoyed today's reading and feel like God has lit YOUR light please click the LIGHT button (it looks like a thumbs up or a heart) and consider subscribing to or following my channel, if you have not done so already. October 29 Daily Reading- Read the Bible in 1 Year
If you would like to download my FREE calendar for keeping track of your commitment to read the Bible every day, you can find that on my site, here: https://www.inthefamilywaycoaching.com/pages/read-the-bible-in-1-year Monthly memberships to support this event can be purchased on my site, here: https://www.inthefamilywaycoaching.com/offering_packages Today's we will  begin reading Paul's first letter to the Corinthians with Chapter 1:2, 5-7, 10-28, Chapter 2:1-2, 4-5, 7, 9-16, and Chapter 3:1-7, 16-20.  Today we will read about the Corinthians having difficulty getting along with one another because they were causing division among themselves by claiming they were followers of different teachers. Paul's letter explains that they (and we!) need to stay focused on unity with one another  because we all share the same Holy Spirit, are all followers of Jesus, have the mind of Jesus, and are the temple for God's Spirit because God lives in each of us!  In our discussion for daily application we will be encouraged to remember that we, like the Corinthians, need to remember not to get hung up on divisive names like being Catholic, Protestant, Presbyterian, Baptist, Lutheran, non denominational, etc. We need to remember that we all have the same foundation- Jesus! It is God who is important, not who we claim to follow, because we are all just servants for God!  We will also talk about how we have the mind of Jesus, which means our goals should be the same as Jesus' goals: make God the most important one in our lives, obey God, do the work God gave us to do to tell people about Jesus, and help people know how to follow Jesus.  If you enjoyed today's reading and feel like God has lit YOUR light please click the LIGHT button (it looks like a thumbs up or a heart) and consider subscribing to or following my channel, if you have not done so already. We will also complete Chapter 18 of Acts by reading vs 12-28 and Chapter 19, 1-22.  Today we will read about Paul's encouragement from God to continue speaking boldly because no one would hurt him and then see how God protected Paul, just like He said He would, when the local Roman ruler did not hear arguments against Paul when the worship house leaders took Paul and accused him of teaching against God. We will read about Paul's journeys and the many people who became followers of Jesus, as well as read about a Jewish man names Apollos, who being very educated in the scriptures, was able to effectively explain the scriptures to many people and show how Jesus was, in fact, the Messiah.  In our discussion for daily application we will be encouraged to be like Apollos- be educated in the scriptures so that we are also able to effectively explain to others how Jesus is, in fact, the Messiah that God told us He would bring!  If you enjoyed today's reading and feel like God has lit YOUR light please click the LIGHT button (it looks like a thumbs up or a heart) and consider subscribing to or following my channel, if you have not done so already. Today we will continue to read about Paul's encouragement to the believers in Thessalonica in regard to their concern for Jesus' return. There was concern for the fact that Jesus had already returned and that they had somehow missed it! Paul will reassure the listener not to worry, when Jesus returns it will be at a time no one is expecting, like when a woman goes into labor for a child to be born, and no one will be able to miss it, because it will be a magnificent event that no one will be able to miss! Therefore, in today's reading, Paul will continue to encourage the believers to continue loving one another and continue in their faith, as they were already doing.  In our discussion for daily application we will be encouraged by Paul today not to repay evil for evil to anyone, but instead, to be kind to everybody, always show our joy, pray, and be grateful to God for everything He does for us because these are things God wants us to do! Let us continue to let God's Holy Spirit work in us, not turning away from God, so that God will make our whole heart clean from any kind of sin.
