Saying "NO" to the life you're told you're destined to live w/ Samy Aberasturi

This conversation was PACKED with so many great lessons and messages about living life on your terms and refusing to life the life society and your family say you're destined for.

Samy did NOT settle for less with her health, her kid's health, or her any other decision regarding her family.

We talk a lot about her journey with hashimoto's disease (and her group coaching program for other women dealing with it) , how she advocated for her health, went against the gran with her medically challenged children, AND decided to homeschool her kids.

This is such an informative episode on these topics, along with inspirational to do life your way regardless of what the people around you say you should do.

Never stop fighting for what you know is right for YOU! Samy sure didn't!

Find out everything she is up to- including her group coaching program for moms with hashimoto's disease- on her IG and website.

When failure is NOT an option w/Vanessa Monique

Vanessa found a way to turn every excuse in the book into her drive.

She became a mother earlier than most, but from the beginning was determined to do motherhood her way.

She refused to be a statistic and would even repeat to herself, “Failure is not an option” when things got hard.

She not only finished high school and graduated college, but she went on to become a nurse and an IBCLC, as well as an entrepreneur determined to diversify her income and keep things fun along the way.

Her story of determination and grit is a powerful one for all moms listening, including myself.

We talked about ⬇️

➡️the challenges of being a single mom while working a full-time job while also building your business on the side

➡️how sometimes your business does have to take a backseat, and knowing when and how to prioritize

➡️the importance of prenatal breast-feeding education.

➡️the link between breast-feeding and mental health.

➡️learning how to stay in your lane and not compare your journey to everybody else’s around you who has different circumstances than you.

➡️🔥🔥We also dove into her personal experience with depression. She shared so candidly and vulnerably it gave me chills!

A MUST LISTEN!

When your SOUL says YES

Opening up about the full body/soul YES feeling I’m having about sharing stories and opinions I’ve kept close to the vest for a long time. (Follow up to opening up in last episode)

Also I accidentally talk briefly about my baby girls birth and that cracks my heart and emotions wide the fuck open. (Unexpected share, but letting it flow)

I also share how I KNOW the universe will allow abundance to follow this step of me being the realest version of me. That energy exchange from the universe is only part of why I’m sharing but it’s contributing to the full picture of being able to do all the things with/for these kids that I’ve dreamed of.

Finding support as a “scrunchy” mom

When you fall in the middle on topics, especially related to how you manage your health (and in turn your pregnancy) it can be hard to know where you fit it.

It can feel like judgement and unsolicited advice is coming at you at every turn.

You may not know who to talk to or how to navigate it.

In this episode I give examples of how many of my past clients have fallen in the middle ground of wanting unconventional choices while weaving them in with medical options.

I talk about the type community you will find within my program The Crib, or even in my DMs if that's all you need:)

Head to IG to vent and have a listening ear, OR click the link HERE to learn all about The Crib and the full spectrum individualized support you will receive there.

Not pregnant, but a mom who would consider herself "scrunchy", in the middle, and/or in need of a nonjudgemental community of moms?

I can't wait to hear from you!

Narrating Your Own Stories w/ Pelvic PT Kelsey Beach

This one got FIREY and JUICY!

Kelsey has strong opinions and soap boxes about mainstream mom culture just like I do, so I LOVED chatting with her!

In this conversation we definitely dropped some f-bombs as we got fired up about the following topics:

  • Being a mom who owns a business, not a business owner who is a mom- never apologizing for being a mom first
  • The huge gap in education during pregnancy about what is physiologically happening
  • Against bounce back culture- realistic postpartum goals
  • Putting blinders on to all the noise on social media and being weary of trusting black and white statements like "Kegels don't work" when individualized care is required.
  • So much pelvic PT tips and info
  • Not being narrator of your own story is when things feel less magical- in birth and life
  • It's okay to not be good at everything, everyday:)

Kelsey is a firecracker and amazing mom and business woman!

Moms! Get back in the Driver's Seat of your Health w/ Nutrition Therapist Whitney Martin

Whitney is a firm believer that if mom is feeling better she can show up better for her kids.

She is a Master Nutrition Therapist specializing in all things related to gut and hormone health. She uses personalized coaching and lab testing to help women feel empowered over their health, level up their energy, and feel more confident in their skin!

SOOO many women are writing off their symptoms as "normal" due to being a mom.

They are also getting "normal" panels back from their doctors which perpetuates the problem.

In this conversation we dive deep into the following:

  • Whitney's story and why she switched career paths and is so passionate about this work
  • Typical lab testing is designed to diagnose disease and prescribe meds, NOT get to root cause and fix
  • Conventional rages vs functional ranges vs optimal
  • Her services and how they work- designed to work them out of a job- aka not needing them forever- the OPPOSITE of the traditional medical model
  • Clients saying things like "FINALLY, someone who takes the time to listen to me"
  • Red flags moms should look for to know when to seek help and what's outside of "normal" for mom life.
  • There is never a good time to DO THE WORK to get healthier, BUT doing so will ultimately allow you to show up best for your family.

If you are a mom, you don't want to miss this one. EVEN IF, you feel good currently, there is so much to know and be aware of.

Individualizing Care as a Labor Nurse w/ Kelly Hof

Kelly is SO passionate about her work as a nurse in the labor and delivery department in a hospital.

She is determined to individualize care for her clients, and to coach other nurses to do the same.

She even started her own podcast to help spread the word called "Birth Journey's Podcast" that I was so fortunate to interview on.

In our conversation we talk about the following + more:

  • Helping moms have less traumatic births in the hospital setting
  • How expectations and knowledge is KEY
  • The NEED for providers to individualize care
  • How birth is not always medical
  • Her personal birth story and why it got her so passionate about this
  • Relative risk vs actual risk
  • The real problem is the lack of choice
  • Processing birth trauma
  • Getting the best support for your hospital birth
  • Best ways to prepare for YOUR birth

This is a juicy one and I can't wait to hear what you think!

Making unconventional birth choices does not have to be hard, scary, or overwhelming

This week sharing another LIVE I did on IG.

If you are wanting to make unconventional choices this pregnancy and birth and it feels hard, you are in the right place!

  • Here are 3 things you can do NOW to add ease to the process.

    • 1. Find someone you can talk to about your past birth experience or fears coming up for you (my DMs are always open) who will actually listen. Who will encourage you to feel the hard parts and won't make you feel shame or guilt for those feelings. Who wont brush them off or make you feel crazy for thinking them. Who will FINALLY make you feel seen and validated in what happened or what you are feeling.

    • 2. Get clear on how you want to FEEL this time. Do this before you dive into the tangible decisions or write the “plan”- I have an amazing free list of journal prompts to help you here.

    • 3. Familiarize yourself with options- conventional and unconventional. Learn the terms/words so instead of “not knowing what you don’t know”, you at least know what you need more info on! I created a list to get you started that is also in the bundle mentioned above.

If you are wanting more support and PERSONALIZED guidance through all of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, I highly recommend applying for my coaching program The Crib.

Learn more about The Crib HERE and apply!

If nothing else, make sure you are following me on IG HERE and DM me so I can get to know you better:) Chatting with you all is seriously what keeps me doing this work.

Why I chose an unconventional birth (and most of my clients do too)

In this weeks episode I share an IG live I did a couple of weeks ago all about why I chose unconventional birth options and why most of my clients do too.

Even if you are unsure, I highly recommend giving it a listen so you open your eyes to what's possible.

I hear a lot "I don't know what I don't know" and this will give you a small peek into what you may not know and where to find more answers and support if that's what you are looking for.
