About This Episode
Automated pumps might be the shiny new toy everyone’s raving about, but they’re not the magic solution people love to pretend they are — at least not for me. When your CGM drops out mid-workout, reads multiple points off, fails days or weeks early...handing over full control to an automated system just doesn't make any sense. And that's just the half of it!
In this episode, I’m breaking down the real, unfiltered reasons I haven't switched to automated pump tech despite having the option — and why “newer” doesn’t always mean better for your actual daily life. We get into the gaps in current algorithms, missing features no one talks about, the mental load of constant troubleshooting, and so much more.

About This Episode
If you’re still giving all your insulin upfront, all at once and finding that your bgls aren't always the best after certain foods.. this could be why! We're breaking down the different types of boluses: standard, extended (square wave), and combo (dual wave or split) boluses, and why knowing how to use them can completely change the way your blood sugars respond. I explain what each bolus type does, when to use them, and why timing and matching your insulin to your food is just as important as the dose itself.

About This Episode
In this Q&A episode, Sharon asked me "Should your insulin-to-carb ratio be the same for every meal? Or should I have more than one carb ratio?". This is one of those things that can make or break your blood sugars through the day but often gets overlooked. In this episode, I’m breaking down what actually influences your carb ratios (and why that “one number” you were given at diagnosis might not be cutting it anymore).

About This Episode
Going low carb has been the 'magical solution' recommended to people with Type 1 Diabetes for decades. While carbs are the biggest factor (in terms of speed/quantity) that influence blood sugar, not eating them doesn't necessarily mean you will find managing type 1 diabetes easier. There are so many other aspects to managing t1d well, and we talk about whether low carb (or another tool/strategy) could be the right option for you in this episode.

About This Episode
When the first blood sugar you see in the morning is high, it can feel really defeating and just damn annoying. If you feel like you can't even catch a break while you're sleeping, waking up with high bgls, or seeing your bgls rise the minute you get out of bed - there’s usually a pattern hiding underneath. In this episode, we chat about the reasons why blood sugars rise overnight or first thing in the morning, and the strategies I use to stop it from becoming your norm.

About This Episode
Amber from Sydney asked: "How to decide when to swap from MDI to a pump?". And I'm really glad she asked this because it's a question that most of us face in our life with type 1.
Getting an insulin pump isn’t the answer to better blood sugars—it’s just a tool. In this episode I talk about the things I would consider before making the switch from MDI to an Insulin Pump.

About This Episode
I don't think breakfast should take longer than 5-10 minutes to prep...but I also don't think breakfast should come out of a wrapper (at least most of the time)😬.
In this episode you can steal my favourite go-to breakfasts that will have you out the door on time, keep you or kids full until at least lunch time, help you start off your day with some actual nutrition, plus you won't have to clean the damn kitchen again... (at least until later😜🙄!!)

About This Episode
If you've ever hesitated to give insulin because you're scared of going low... If you’ve ever felt that familiar anxiety creep in when it’s time to eat, exercise, or show up to your endo appointment...that is all anxiety. Anxiety is something most of us feel at some point, and can be even more common with t1d especially when things feel unpredictable, disorganised, or just straight-up overwhelming. But there's a lot we can do to reduce anxiety, whether it's fear of the unknown or just a habitual way of thinking you've gotten into - and in this episode I walk you through the 5 things I come back to again and again when I feel anxious.

About This Episode
T1D has a sneaky way of turning food into a full-time job.😬
It’s not just what to eat... it’s:
– Finding a healthy meal your whole family will actually eat– Shopping for the ingredients– Cooking the damn thing– Carb counting it — accurately– And then trying to figure out how to bolus for it so you don’t go high or crash low afterward🤷🏼♀️ (I.E. "this looks like 3u...."
For many of us, it’s so much mental and physical energy that skipping meals can feel easier than eating.
Or we default to the same 3 “safe” meals on repeat — not because we love them, or they're giving us the nutrition we need, but because they’re predictable and easy.
So in this episode, I go over:💡 Why food feels so overwhelming when you're managing T1D💡 The often invisible cognitive load behind meal decisions💡 Why generic recipes don’t cut it for people with T1D💡 And how the THR1VE recipe database takes care of the thinking for you. With carb counts, macro breakdowns, and bolus tips you can actually trust
Whether you’re newly diagnosed, parenting a T1D child, or just feeling burnt out around food this one’s here to remind you there's an easier way.
