Laura Mota-Juang is a Taiwanese-Brazilian shameless experimentalist from São Paulo and based in Tiohtiá:ke/Montreal. Her work has been published by PRISM International, carte blanche, Augur, The Rumpus, Plenitude and elsewhere. She is the author of Light Spill (Block Party Press 2023), a chapbook inspired by Physic's imagination. In 2023, Laura was a finalist of the QWF's carte blanche Prize. DJ Whorito is a Colombian-born, Canadian-raised DJ who started during his university days, mainly mixing mainstream reggaeton. Coming from a heavy background of Salsa, merengue and reggaeton, he began experimenting more once he moved to Montreal in 2022. His sound is ideally the party starter as his track selection varies from lowdown and sweaty reggaeton to high BPM guaracha. éli del (Ariane Gagné) aims to dive into crude, visceral and enlightening experiences to come back and share what they have found in the abyss. Their practice makes use of calligraphy, diagrams, drawings, songs and tattoos, tools which allow them to connect to their epigenetic legacy of trauma, poverty, mental health and addiction problems, while invoking an inspiring heritage of witchcraft, visions and spirituality. This process leads to pictorial objects that form an erratic cartography inspired by Chaos Magick, psycho-pop literature and ecofeminist practices. Like molts that result from moments of healing, evolution or involution, their works integrate poetic messages – a sibylline prose that is blurred by sharp and sinuous scribbles and abstruse symbols. This textual aspect of their work is made to be sung, deciphered, or left to interpretation, taking the form of motivational phrases and enigmatic advice that serve as an invitation to regeneration, fluidity and ruin. Graduate of UQAM’s Visual and Media Arts program (2019), they live between europe and Tio’Tia:Ke (Montreal), where their work has been shown in exhibitions, festivals and various public and private spaces such as Projet Casa, Art souterrain and Espace Maurice. They also exhibited pieces in Alcamo (IT), Québec city (CA), Berlin (DE), Brussels (BE) , Youngstown (OH) and Hudson (NY). She is the author of three poetry collections: SEXO POR ÚLTIMA, AMBIENT TECHNOLOGY and I AM HERE. She is the Founder and Managing Editor of METATRON PRESS (2016), a multi-award-winning literary publisher that publishes experimental and cutting-edge contemporary poetry and fiction in unique pocketbook editions by debut authors. Metatron’s projects also include various explorations in literary discoverability and innovative solutions to capturing the cadence and spirit of contemporary writing, including over 50 events, a podcast and multiple explorations in digital publishing, including the recently released GLYPHÖRIA project, a new digital literary platform. GLYPHÖRIA is a literary cyber environment designed to optimize the emotional gravity of poetry online through the exhibition of curated multidisciplinary poetry. She has also gained various experiences in different professions in the music industry after completing her education in Arts Management, in Toronto.
