Lessons from Failure

Why are we so afraid of failure? As children, we are not afraid to try even if that means we do not get it right. But by the time we reach adulthood, failure becomes much more daunting, unbearable even.

Why is society so set against failure? Why do we denigrate those who fail? Why does work culture punish failure?

In order to embark on any sort of creative or innovative venture, failure is part and parcel of the journey. You will try many things that don't work until you finally get that one, right.

Encouraging people to try even if they fail, remains forbidden in so many ways.

In today's episode, I posit that failure should be seen as a trove of lessons, a journey of the prototypes until you get to the final version. Those who try and fail should be respected for their sheer audacity to try. It is not an easy feat to take on a problem that many run away from, damning possible failure to attempt it. The lessons you glean, improve the journey for the next person. Why do we not see this often?

Perhaps, we should work on not being so lily-livered and try something before it is too late? You either try and fail or never try, never fail but live with regrets.

Finding Peace in Solitude

Today's world is full of so much noise. Easy access to electronic devices & more cars on our roads, has made it difficult for us to understand how vital silence & solitude are to our well being. We sometimes fail to realise how affected we are by the sheer amount of noise around us. We have grown numb to the sounds and sights. It is important that remind ourselves of what is necessary and take back the power on making decisions to improve our health.

In this episode, we address social costs such as noise and air pollution; and how city-dwelling expansion is affecting the quality of the air we breathe, bringing in noise which itself overtime constitutes a nuisance to our ears and health.

Tune in and do share your thoughts in the comments section.

Happy New Year and wishing you all the best for yourself and your families in 2021.

Have you heard of 'Toxic Positivity'?

In today's society, we all have this fervent need to be seen to be positive all the time even when we do not feel like it.

The pressure to be this way is what constitutes toxic positivity and the after-effects can be just as draining. In this episode, we try to make sense of owning our feelings and emotions for us and not playing other emotions for others to the detriment of our well being.

Welcome to the 5th episode of our podcast series.

Do people date any longer?

What exactly constitutes dating in this day and age? It would appear romance is truly dead. I wrangle with this subject because my expectations have often not been met in reality. I wonder what other people's experiences are. Why is it so difficult to communicate and hear each other, state intentions very clearly and not play games? Why is the art of wooing non-existent? Who teaches it and why is it no longer taught or understood? The simplest things in life appear to have gotten way more complicated than they need to be. Let's tackle this!

Ep 03 - Being Friendly Vs Being Friends and Acquaintances

Is being friendly to you the same as trying to be friends? Can you make a distinction between the two? Let's add to that, the element of acquaintances. What differentiates an acquaintance from a friend in your view? In this episode of Growing Spaces, we look into these terminologies and break down what constitutes which and the element of friendship being forged by adversity and not just good times, giving gifts and simply being there. Also, share your thoughts in the comments section as we would love to hear from you.

Thank you for listening, remain blessed and keep flourishing.
