Lucia Goyen has been married to her husband since 2017. Her husband entered the country over 20 years ago and has since opened up a business and has worked across NY. They have an almost 2-year-old US daughter but it is uncertain if her husband can adjust his immigration status as the bar for "extreme hardship" for the waiver is incredibly vague and hard to meet.
In this episode, we discuss what is The Immigration Bar Reform, how Lucia has been affected, and her recent trip to Washington D.C. to advocate for families affected by these laws.

I was recently scrolling through TikTok and saw a video with a caption that read, “be nice to your parents, remember it is their first time living life too.”
This made me think back to my first-ever family vacation…that actually just happened last year. In this episode, I talk about how a trip to California with my family helped me step into their shoes, see and hear firsthand about my dad’s immigration story, and in some way help him heal from his experience.
Sometimes in the journey of finding our inner bosses, we can also inspire others, especially those closest to us.

As a Queer Latino who didn’t come out until I was 22 years old, I later understood that in life I would come out again, and again, and again. This is the story of how I was outed in high school, and how I came out to my parents.
I recorded this video at the start of Pride month, and at a time in which the Human Rights Campaign had just shared that we are in a “State of Emergency” for Queer Americans.
While it is a scary time to be openly a part of the LGBTQ+ community, I know it is important for our stories to be heard, and here is mine. Thank you for listening.

For my first episode, I wanted to share more about my why, what led me to finally begin this show, and how being laid off twice finally gave me the kick I needed to say, let me take control of my life.
In those two experiences, some of the questions I thought to myself were, why did I never see myself as a boss? What things professionally and personally scarred me that I didn’t deem myself worthy? What was I holding onto? And what could I let go of?
Through a lot of self-discovery, learning to listen to myself in those moments where life just has you at a standstill, and honestly sometimes pushing through even when the weight of your world feels extra heavy…Here I am. And here we are.
Thank you for listening and catch you on the next episode.
