This week on NEWS.MC TV, we’re diving into a packed run of developments shaping the Principality — from financial integrity and climate leadership to caviar, cardiology and a couple of bruising nights for the Roca Team.
We begin with a major step forward in Monaco’s fight against financial crime. On November 6, the International University of Monaco joined forces with the Monégasque Association of Compliance Officers to launch a brand-new professional certification designed to bolster the Principality’s defences against money laundering, terrorism financing, weapons proliferation and corruption.
Environmental diplomacy then took centre stage thousands of kilometres away in Belém, Brazil. Addressing the COP30 plenary on the same day, Prince Albert II issued a forceful pledge: Monaco will double its international climate funding to developing nations by 2028.
Closer to home, Monaco played its part in Operation Romogepol, a large-scale oil spill response exercise off Saint-Tropez on November 6. Maritime teams from Monaco, France and Italy joined forces in a realistic simulation of a major tanker incident, testing everything from crisis coordination to environmental protection protocols.
The sporting season kicked off on the water as well, with the Monaco Sportsboat Winter Series returning from November 6 to 9. Now in its twelfth edition, the regatta once again drew elite J/70 crews looking to sharpen their skills in winter conditions at the Yacht Club de Monaco.
On November 7 in São Paulo, Prince Albert II met ten young eco-entrepreneurs at an innovation forum hosted by his foundation under the theme Building Tomorrow Together. The discussions revolved around sustainability, creativity and, frankly, the sort of optimism the world could use more of.
Medical specialists also convened on November 7 for the 36th International Day at the Hôtel Hermitage, organised by the Monaco Cardio-Thoracic Centre. This year’s focus: heart failure — a condition as common as it is complex. Experts from Monaco, Paris, Marseille and elsewhere traded insights on diagnosis, treatment and prevention.
On November 8, while in São Paulo for the Brazilian Grand Prix, Prince Albert II visited the Ayrton Senna Institute to honour the legacy of the six-time Monaco Grand Prix winner. Even three decades on, Senna’s ties to the Principality remain unmatched.
Back in Monaco, fresh economic figures revealed that the Principality’s 2024 GDP has shattered the €10 billion barrier — reaching €10.28 billion, an 8.8% inflation-adjusted rise from 2023. Not bad for 2 km².
The Principality marked Armistice Day on November 11 with a solemn tribute beginning at the monument to King Albert I of Belgium, followed by prayers and a wreath-laying ceremony at the Monaco Cemetery’s war memorial.
Economic diplomacy continued that same day as a Slovak delegation met the Monaco Economic Board to explore cooperation in sectors ranging from tech and logistics to architecture and printing. The gathering at the Novotel included a business conference and targeted B2B sessions.
On the basketball court, it was a tale of two tough nights for the Roca Team. First came a 78–76 defeat to Partizan Belgrade — despite Monaco unleashing an unbelievable 22–0 run in the fourth quarter. Then, on November 13, Red Star Belgrade topped Monaco 91–79, pulling away late with a relentless offensive burst. A frustrating double-header, though certainly not the end of the story.
And finally, this week’s guest: John Velissarios, consultant and strategic adviser. He joins us for an in-depth conversation on risk, regulation, digital trust and the evolving challenges facing organisations in an increasingly complex global landscape.

This week on NEWS.MC TV, we bring you the latest from Monaco and beyond — a mix of glamour, grit, and great causes.
The stars shone brightly in New York as the Princess Grace Foundation Gala lit up the Plaza Hotel on October 29th. Presided over by Prince Albert II, the event honoured 40 years of supporting rising talent in theatre, dance, and film — a celebration of art, legacy, and the enduring spirit of Princess Grace herself.
Back home, Monaco’s Halloween celebrations were a spooky success as Princess Antoinette Park turned into a haunted playground on October 31st. Witches, skeletons, and mini vampires took over the park for costume contests, face painting, and a candy treasure hunt fit for the undead.
Fine wine and fine company were on the menu at the 33rd Gala of the Monegasque Sommelier Association, held at the Yacht Club of Monaco on November 1st. The evening brought together sommeliers and connoisseurs to toast exceptional vintages in true Riviera style.
That same day, Prince Albert II attended the grand opening of Egypt’s new National Museum in Cairo — the largest archaeological museum in the world — a landmark moment for global heritage and diplomacy.
Back in the Principality, compassion took centre stage at Roquethon, Monaco’s annual solidarity march against animal abandonment. More than 400 people — and plenty of dogs — braved the weather under the Fontvieille big top on November 2nd, joined by Princess Charlene and her chihuahua to raise funds for animal welfare.
Also defying the elements, over 500 runners tackled the 48th Larvotto Cross Country Race, proving that not even rain could dampen Monaco’s competitive spirit.
On the international front, Prince Albert II’s historic visit to Paraguay marked the first by a reigning Monegasque sovereign, strengthening ties in diplomacy and sustainable development.
In sport, AS Monaco Basket are flying high — first with a dominant 94–77 win over Limoges to top the French standings, and then with a breathtaking 112–107 overtime triumph over Maccabi Tel Aviv in EuroLeague action. The Roca Team proved once again they can win with heart, grit, and just a touch of drama.
And in this week’s interview, we’re joined by Professor Elena Baranova, a leading expert in personal genomics and anti-ageing, to discuss how cutting-edge science is reshaping the way we think about health, longevity, and the future of medicine.

The Principality once again confirmed its position as the yachting capital of the world, as the Monaco Yacht Show returned from September 24th to 27th. With more than 400 exhibitors and 120 of the globe’s most spectacular vessels on display — from elegant 25-metre cruisers to jaw-dropping 100-metre mega-yachts — the event reaffirmed its status as the premier luxury yacht show worldwide.
On September 25th, Monaco Explorations launched its latest scientific mission from Port of Fontvieille. Under the patronage of Prince Albert II, researchers embarked for Greece to study invisible marine microbiomes — tiny but essential organisms that underpin ocean ecosystems.
A day later, eyes turned skyward at the Prince’s Palace, where Monaco’s new hot air balloon made its second public appearance. Proudly emblazoned with the club’s principal partner, the balloon delighted onlookers in Place du Palais as it lifted gracefully into the air, marking a milestone moment for the Aeronauts of Monaco.
From September 27th to 28th, His Serene Highness Prince Albert II travelled to Rwanda, where he championed initiatives on sustainability, education, and sport. His visit included meeting women training as professional beekeepers at Lake Ruhondo and supporting grassroots development programmes. The trip concluded with the Prince attending the UCI Road World Championships in Kigali — the first time the event has been staged on African soil.
Healthcare also took a step forward as Monaco officially launched its new night doctor service, Médecins de Garde Monaco, on October 1st. Residents can now dial 116 117 for non-urgent consultations between 7pm and 7am, every day of the year. The service was unveiled with the donation of an electric vehicle to assist doctors on duty.
The same day, the Monaco courts marked the opening of the new judicial year. The ceremony at the courthouse reflected on a demanding 12 months, praised the justice system’s resilience, and set priorities for the year ahead — including stronger international cooperation and careful integration of technologies such as artificial intelligence.
Prince Albert II also reconnected with family history on October 1st with a visit to Aix-en-Provence. The commemoration at the Episcopal Palace honoured Cardinal Jérôme Grimaldi, with further recognition of the dynasty’s historical ties to the region.
In sport, it was a mixed week for Monaco. The Roca Team slipped to an 84–89 defeat against Zalgiris Kaunas in their EuroLeague opener, despite a standout performance from Mike James with 24 points. Meanwhile at the Stade Louis-II, AS Monaco pulled off a thrilling 2–2 draw against Manchester City in the Champions League. Erling Haaland netted twice for City, but Jordan Teze and a last-gasp Eric Dier penalty salvaged a vital point for the Red and Whites.
And finally, in this week’s exclusive interview, we sit down with Patrick Wiaux, Founder of Platinum Age Management, to discuss the challenges and opportunities of managing elite athletes, the evolution of sports careers in today’s fast-changing environment, and how Monaco plays a role as a global hub for talent management.

This week on NEWS.MC TV, we bring you the latest stories shaping Monaco and beyond.
On September 18, the Principality hosted the 13th edition of Monaco Business, its flagship B2B event. Fifty companies gathered for a day of networking and innovation, with His Serene Highness Prince Albert II and Minister of State Christophe Mirmand opening the proceedings. Their message was clear: Monaco’s economy remains resilient, innovative, and ready for the future.
The following weekend, Monaco joined millions worldwide for World Cleanup Day on September 20. Volunteers of all ages, guided by the town hall and sanitation services, marched through the Condamine district to collect litter, sort it, and weigh the results at Princess Antoinette Park—proving once again that sustainability is a shared responsibility.
That same evening, the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra brought down the curtain on its European tour with two triumphant performances at Bucharest’s George Enescu International Festival. Under Kazuki Yamada’s baton, and alongside soloists Nelson Goerner and Martha Argerich, the orchestra performed to sold-out halls in what marked its debut at one of Europe’s most prestigious cultural events.
On September 22, Prince Albert II made headlines in New York as he addressed the High-Level Conference on the Peaceful Settlement of the Palestine Question at the United Nations. He confirmed Monaco’s recognition of the State of Palestine, affirming what he called “two inseparable rights”: Israel’s right to live in peace within secure borders and the Palestinians’ right to a sovereign and democratic state.
Also on the 22nd, the Principality hosted the fifth edition of the Monaco Smart and Sustainable Marina conference at the Yacht Club. Experts from over 15 countries gathered to advance environmentally responsible marina infrastructure, reinforcing Monaco’s global role in sustainable yachting.
Later that evening, Prince Albert II was honoured in New York at the Foreign Policy Association’s annual State Dinner, receiving the organisation’s highest award for his work in cultural diplomacy and ocean protection.
The spotlight then turned to Princess Charlene in Paris, where she took the stage at the Ballon d’Or ceremony to award the Socrates Prize 2024. The honour, created by L’Équipe and Peace and Sport, recognises athletes who drive social impact beyond their performance on the field.
On September 24, Prince Albert II spoke at the opening of the 80th United Nations General Assembly, calling for strengthened multilateral cooperation to confront global challenges peacefully.
And during New York’s Climate Week, the Prince rang the Nasdaq opening bell, announcing a 5 million euro boost to the ReOcean Fund, part of a 100 million euro initiative to drive investment into the sustainable blue economy.

This week, NEWS.MC TV brings you the latest updates from Monaco, beginning with politics at the highest level. On September 11, Monaco’s new Minister of State, Christophe Mirmand, held his first major press conference alongside government ministers. He outlined his key priorities for the year, emphasising transparency, unity, and humility, and pledged to work closely with both the media and local officials.
On the same day, Monaco celebrated sporting excellence as its athletes who triumphed at the 2025 Games of the Small States of Europe in Andorra were honoured at a reception at the Oceanographic Museum. H.S.H. Prince Albert II and Minister of State Christophe Mirmand joined dignitaries in congratulating the delegation, which brought home a record 44 medals, including 16 gold — Monaco’s best-ever result abroad.
Culture and tradition were in the spotlight as Monaco’s Port Hercule was transformed into a living maritime museum for the 17th edition of Monaco Classic Week. Prince Albert II visited the fleet on September 11, the day after its opening, celebrating the Principality’s enduring ties to yachting heritage.
In neighbouring Tourrette-Levens, Prince Albert II and Princess Stéphanie honoured Dr Alain Frère on September 15 as he celebrated his 90th birthday. A circus pioneer and close friend of Monaco, Dr Frère has long been a central figure in the Principality’s cultural life.
Innovation in healthcare took centre stage at the Princess Grace Hospital, where a new smart rehabilitation training apartment was unveiled. The fully equipped space, located in the geriatrics unit, helps patients regain independence before returning home by simulating everyday environments with adaptive equipment tailored to their needs.
Beyond Monaco, international headlines turned to sport as the final stage of the Vuelta a España was disrupted in Madrid on September 14. Pro-Palestinian protesters blocked parts of the route just kilometres from the finish line, forcing riders to stop and wait as organisers scrambled to restore order.
Back in Monaco, Princess Charlene visited the Princess Grace Hospital on September 16 to launch a new infant first aid training programme. Organised in partnership with the Monaco Red Cross, the workshops will provide parents, grandparents, and caregivers with vital life-saving skills.
Diplomatic cooperation was also on the agenda as Monaco participated in the 18th Conference of Presidents of Parliaments of Small European States, held in Cyprus on September 16. Delegations from nine countries came together to address pressing global issues, from artificial intelligence to democracy and crisis response.
Business networking thrived on the same day, as the Monaco Economic Board held its 54th Members’ Meeting. Nearly 400 business leaders gathered to exchange ideas, strengthen local connections, and open doors to international opportunities.
Charity and sport met in style at the Princess of Monaco Cup, which concluded on September 17 with its famous 19th hole played in Casino Square. Princess Charlene and Prince Albert II launched the evening, which also paid tribute to the late Formula 1 driver Eddie Jordan.
In football, it was a tough start to the Champions League campaign for AS Monaco. The team fell 4–1 away to Club Brugge on September 18, with the Belgian side scoring three goals before halftime. Despite a late consolation goal from Ansu Fati, Monaco’s missed penalty and defensive struggles sealed a disappointing defeat.
And in this week’s exclusive interview, NEWS.MC TV sits down with Richard Lambert, Senior Partner at Burgess. He shares his insights into Monaco’s pivotal role in the global superyacht industry, the challenges and opportunities facing the sector, and why innovation and sustainability will shape its future.

This week, NEWS.MC TV brings you the highlights from Monaco and the surrounding region.
We begin in Italy, where His Serene Highness Prince Albert II travelled to Dolceacqua on Friday, September 5, to honour the 40th anniversary of the town’s Civil Protection volunteers. The ceremony paid tribute to the courage and commitment of the thirty men and women who safeguard their community in times of crisis.
In nearby Sanremo, fashion and history converged as the Sanremo Fashion Festival opened with a special exhibition dedicated to Prince Rainier III, celebrating Monaco’s royal heritage in the glamorous setting of the Casino.
Back in the Principality, the 14th Monaco Book Fair took place at the Grimaldi Forum on September 6 and 7. The event brought together nearly 150 authors from 12 countries, offering visitors the chance to meet writers across genres — from novels and poetry to theatre and comics.
Community spirit shone brightly on Sunday, September 7, when nearly 1,000 Monegasques gathered in Princess Antoinette Park for the annual Cavagnëtu. This beloved picnic tradition marks the end of summer and celebrates Monaco’s close-knit identity.
The new academic year has also begun, with more than 5,600 students returning to classrooms across the Principality. At Lycée Albert Ier, the rentrée was particularly notable, as students and staff settled into temporary facilities at the Annonciade, while major renovations continue at the historic Monaco-Ville site.
On September 9, Prince Albert II travelled to Roquefort-les-Pins to officially welcome the town into the network of Historic Grimaldi Sites of Monaco, reinforcing centuries-old bonds between the two communities.
And on September 10, Roquebrune-Cap-Martin hosted the opening of the 14th Art-Bre Festival. Held in the Parc des Oliviers in the presence of Prince Albert II, this year’s edition pays tribute to the oceans and honours Virginie Heriot, the trailblazing French sailor and the first woman to win an Olympic medal in sailing in 1928.
This week, NEWS.MC TV is joined by Marc Mourou, leader of Generation Monaco. In an exclusive interview, he discusses the priorities of his political movement, the role of youth in shaping the Principality’s future, and his vision for a modern and dynamic Monaco.
