If you close your eyes and think of what gets your anxiety up, instantly, I bet that doesn’t feel very good. But what happens if what triggers you and your family is a bad neighbor and your landlord will do nothing about it. Even worse, what if the trigger is a constantly barking dog on your neighbor’s property….and what happens if this is going on both sides of where you’re trying to live? My guest today is a long-time tenant and has a case study to share with us on what happened when his related-to-him landlords worked to protect his quiet enjoyment, all with code enforcement not acting. Mike Daniels gives us the goods.

Earlier this year I found myself waking up every morning saying “I know I should work out”. Better yet, my FAMILY would say something like “you now, I’d like to see you move, or walk, or work out”....which was so fun to hear. I asked myself WHY I didn’t want to work out, or even worse, I wasn’t sure how to get started, especially since I didn’t like working out. I started asking how I could trick my mind into working out, by surrounding the event with stuff that I LIKED. Things like great music, fun clothes, and a great reward once the workout was completed. Somehow, someway, the negative stigma of what I once dreaded is gone, and I am four months and counting of consistently working out 3 times a week for 20-30 minutes. Today, I explain exactly how I did it, and how I now look forward to working out.

Some people grow up playing astronauts and ballerinas, while others design play houses. My guest today was the latter. Her strategy about building purpose-built rentals, but on a small scale, is a very unique take on providing housing and creating communities. Natalie Cloutier is a mom, an author, a designer, a builder and a champion. In today’s episode, she and I discuss the ins and outs of her build-to-rent strategy, her landlording philosophy and the book she’s written about all of the above.
