Outside of basketball, Trey has committed himself to breaking down the stigma surrounding mental health, opening up about his own struggles and those of the people around him, including the tragic passing of his close friend and fellow Ball State hooper Zach Hollywood. Trey received the 2020 NCAA Inspiration Award for his work, has founded the brand "24 Reasons," and continues to be an inspirational voice in his community back in Louisville, Kentucky, and across the country.
