Are the Gospels Reliable? What History Actually Tells Us
We're back with a brand-new series, Not Just Stories: A Guide to the Gospels! Over the next few weeks, we'll be tackling your questions surrounding the Gospels in hopes that we all get more from this important section of Scripture designed to introduce us to and draw us closer to Jesus. When God’s Spirit is at work in us, one of the most natural desires we develop is to know His Word. In this episode, Keith and Patrick kick off this new series by answering a few foundational questions to help us understand his Word more deeply: Who wrote the Gospels? When were they written? Who were they written for? And can we trust that the events they describe really happened? Along the way, they explore historical evidence, eyewitness testimony, and why the Gospels deserve far more confidence than they’re often given. This episode lays the groundwork for reading the Gospels, not just faithfully, but thoughtfully. 🔔 Subscribe now as we continue to tackle your questions and dive deeper into the basics of the Gospels. How to Build Friendships That Actually Make You Happy
We all want to be happy. But most of us chase the wrong things to get there. Studies repeatedly show that money and success won’t bring lasting joy. Because Christianity is a community project and nobody becomes a saint by themselves. 🔔 Subscribe now and be sure to join us for our upcoming series in 2026 where we'll tackle your questions and dive deeper into the basics of the Gospels. 🤔 Have a question you want to submit for our next series on the Gospels? Deny Yourself: The Surprising Path to True Happiness
The world says, “Follow your heart.” But Jesus says, “Deny yourself.”  In this episode, we're sharing the next step to sainthood: self denial. Listen as Keith and Patrick challenge the modern idea that happiness comes from chasing your desires, citing where Jesus taught the opposite: real joy comes from denying yourself and following him. The two explore why self-denial isn’t restrictive; it's freeing. You’ll learn how self-focus (whether through pride or shame) keeps you trapped, how secular studies have also proven that self-denial leads to greater happiness, and how to practice the discipline of surrender in everyday life. We hope this episode leaves you asking: Am I self-serving or serving God? 🔔 Subscribe now and join us for the next episode as we continue exploring how we can build a lasting, full-time faith. 📫 Want Sunday's best for your Monday morning inbox? How to Measure Spiritual Growth (According to God)
How do you know if you’re actually growing spiritually? Most of us measure faith the wrong way: by what we do instead of who we’re becoming. In this episode, Patrick and Keith explore how God measures spiritual growth, why giftedness doesn’t equal godliness, and how focusing on checklists can actually stunt your maturity. You’ll learn what true growth looks like, what the Bible says about godly character, and how to measure your progress the way God does: slowly, deeply, and from the inside out. 🔔 Subscribe now and join us for the next episode as we continue exploring how we can build a lasting, full-time faith. 📫 Want Sunday's best for your Monday morning inbox? The Surrender Experiment: What Happens When You Give Everything to God?
"Come and die." That’s the call of every Christian. A startling invitation to surrender your life, your plans, and your desires to Jesus. But what would it really look like to give God everything? In this episode, Keith and Patrick dive into the call to surrender, why it’s essential for becoming a saint, and whether surrender is a second-level Christian practice or the foundation of following Jesus. They talk about the fears, pleasures, and attachments that hold us back, explore the powerful rewards of surrender, and provide prayers and practical exercises to help you start living a life fully submitted to God’s lordship. 🔔 Subscribe now and join us for the next episode as we continue exploring how we can build a lasting, full-time faith. 📫 Want Sunday's best for your Monday morning inbox? Falling into Sin…Again? How to Get Back Up After Spiritual Failure
What do you do when you fall into sin... again? Most of us try to fix it, hide it, or pull ourselves up by sheer willpower. But the Bible shows us a different pattern: God always takes the first step. In this episode, Patrick and Keith unpack the biblical examples of Adam and Eve, Abraham, David, and the prodigal son to reveal a powerful truth: God always makes the first move. No one gets back up on their own. And it’s always by God’s grace. You’ll discover how God draws us out, restores us, and even gives us the desire to return. If you’ve felt stuck, hopeless, or too far gone, this conversation will remind you of the God who won’t let you stay down. 🔔 Subscribe now and join us for the next episode as we continue exploring how we can build a lasting, full-time faith. 📫 Want Sunday's best for your Monday morning inbox? Feeling Stuck? 4 Hidden Reasons You’re Not Growing Spiritually
Have you ever felt like your faith has stalled out? Like no matter what you do, you just can’t seem to grow? They’ll look at stories from the Bible that reveal how worldliness, appetites, excuses, and even the fear of others can keep us trapped. But there’s hope: when you know yourself and your weaknesses, you can start moving again. We hope this conversation helps you to reflect honestly, reset your expectations, and take the next step toward becoming more like Christ. 🔔 Subscribe now and join us for the next episode as we continue exploring how we can build a lasting, full-time faith. 📫 Want Sunday's best for your Monday morning inbox? Why Most People Never Change (And How You Can)
Want to know the #1 reason most people don’t change? They’re not honest... with themselves, with others, or with God. The truth is that change rarely lasts because we often lie to ourselves about where we really are in life. In this episode of Not Just Sunday, Keith and Patrick are digging into the surprising barrier that keeps us stuck: self-deception. They explore why honesty, especially radical honesty with God and others, is essential for real transformation, and how friends who speak the truth in love can help us break the self-deception cycle. Tired of feeling stuck? Craving true transformation? We hope this conversation helps you take the first step forward. 🔔 Subscribe now and join us for the next episode as we continue exploring how we can build a lasting, full-time faith. 📫 Want Sunday's best for your Monday morning inbox? You're Going to Die. Now What?
Death is unavoidable. So, why do most of us do everything we can to ignore it? In this episode, Patrick and Keith unpack why living with the end in mind is essential for following Jesus and becoming the person God calls you to be. They share how thinking about the end shapes your priorities, transforms your faith, and motivates you to become a saint one day at a time. They dive into why our culture tends to avoid death talk and how that denial can stunt spiritual growth. They also touch on how the inevitability of death highlights the importance of holiness and character development now, not just in some distant future. The two end by inviting listeners to ask hard questions about what kind of life and legacy they want to build before their time is up. We hope this episode inspires you to face the topic of death honestly, as this can spark real transformation and motivate you to pursue a full-time faith. 🔔 Subscribe now and join us for the next episode as we explore the #1 reason most people never really change. 📫 Want Sunday's best for your Monday morning inbox? Can People Really Change?
You’ve been rescued by God, but you’re not yet fully resurrected. So, what about the in-between? In this episode of Not Just Sunday, Keith and Patrick explore the process of real, lasting change: how it happens, how long it takes, and why it’s so much harder (and slower!) than we expect. They break down the tension between God’s role and our responsibility, and why transformation isn’t about just trying harder; it’s about being trained by Jesus. From disordered loves to spiritual disciplines, they invite you to think differently about growth, progress, and what it means to follow Jesus over time. You'll hear why change is about more than just willpower, what it means to be trained, and how God transforms our desires, not just our behavior. If you feel like your growth is too slow or not enough, this episode is for you. Change is possible. But it’s not instant. And we hope you walk away from this one encouraged to let God lead the pace and the process. 🔔 Subscribe now and join us for the next episode: Where do you want to be when you die? 📫 Want Sunday's best for your Monday morning inbox? It's Never Too Late to Become a Saint
What do you think of when you hear the word saint? Catholicism? Mother Teresa? Someone who's "holier-than-thou"? Someone you could never become? In this episode of Not Just Sunday, Keith and Patrick challenge the myths around sainthood and unpack what it really means to be a saint in the Christian life. They discuss why sainthood isn't reserved for the spiritually elite, breaking down the two parts of being a saint: who you are and how you live. They explore why all Christians are already saints, but are also actively becoming saints through God’s faithfulness, not just through human effort. If you’ve ever felt like you’re stuck in your spiritual life, or like sainthood is for “those kinds” of Christians, we hope this episode encourages you to rethink what’s possible. 🔔 Subscribe now to join us on the journey toward full-time faith. 📫 Want Sunday's best for your Monday morning inbox? Becoming a Not Just Sunday Christian
What does it really mean to follow Jesus? Not just at church, but at work, in your relationships, on your commute, or when no one’s watching? Welcome to Not Just Sunday! In this first official episode, hosts Keith Simon and Patrick Miller unpack what it means to live as a full-time Christian in a part-time world. They share personal stories about how their views of faith and “ministry” have shifted and why the Christian life can’t be confined to a church building or a Sunday morning. Then, they dig into the concept of change: why it’s so hard, why most of us feel stuck, and what God is actually doing in us when we don’t see fast results. Together, they begin to wrestle with a big question: How does real change actually happen? They also discuss what it means to live as a "saint" and begin to explore the deeply human process of becoming someone new by the grace of God. Whether you're just starting to take your faith seriously or you’ve been walking with Jesus for decades, this podcast is an invitation to go deeper and to follow Jesus into all of life. 🔔 Subscribe now to join us on the journey toward full-time faith. 📫 Want Sunday's best for your Monday morning inbox? ToT Archive - What Do Demonic Powers Have To Do with Politics? with Tim Mackie
Demonic powers and politics? Is this going to be a weird campfire conversation where they share their demon stories? No, quite the opposite! You may have heard this one before! That’s because it’s an older episode, but it’s one of our favorites! And given the political chatter over the last few months, we decided to resurface it and revisit a conversation on the reality of demonic and dark spiritual forces at work in the political realm. Hear as Patrick sits down with Tim Mackie, cofounder of BibleProject, and the two have a sophisticated and candid discussion about the “powers” that Paul refers to in Ephesians. Tim shares how these spiritual powers contribute to disunity and fragmentation within the church, urging Christians to be aware of these schemes and seek unity above all else. You’ll also hear Tim share how the BibleProject navigates hot-button, cultural topics, and whether or not he believes the church should weigh in on such conversations. Listen now! ToT Archive - Is Gen Z More Open to Following Jesus? with Brad East
Is the Gospel really worth living for? Is it worth dying for? Depending on when you were born, you may approach these questions differently. Today’s guest, Brad East, author of “Letters to a Future Saint” and an associate professor of theology at Abilene Christian University, spends the bulk of his time with Gen Z. Listen as he shares his observations with Patrick and explains why he believes Gen Z is more conscious than older generations of the cost of following Jesus. He discusses where he thinks the church has overcorrected in Reformed circles, shying away from taboo topics like sex. He also shares some beliefs and practices that he believes we’ve lost from the ancient church. Plus, what are the biggest defeatist beliefs for young people when they think about the church? And how can Gen Z expand their spiritual journey? Listen now! Have you read "Joyful Outsiders" yet? It's available now! ToT Archive - Who Killed American Christianity? with John Mark Comer
We've recently talked about the seismic shifts happening in today's culture. That's why this week, we decided to dig up an older episode on this very topic. A few years back, Patrick sat down with John Mark Comer to discuss the state of Christianity in the culture. John Mark, author and pastor, shares his story of how he started following Jesus. Then you'll hear John Mark and Patrick dive right into topics such as the meaning of evangelicalism, especially in current times, and the problem with celebrity culture and Christianity. They also give insights into the cultural shifts challenging faithfulness to Jesus and how we can move forward. Whether you heard it already or not, it's a great listen! ToT Archive - The Cultural Vibes, They Are A-Shiftin’
Is it culturally acceptable to be a Christian again? Is it cool to be a conservative now? Is culture turning its back on the last ten progressive, anti-religious years? Consider today’s episode a vibe check on our current cultural moment. Everybody seems to be talking about a cultural vibe shift, but what does it mean? What’s changed? Keith and Patrick team up on today’s episode to break it down. They examine American vibe shifts of the past and provide a number of recent examples to prove a new cultural shift is here: Bible sales rising to an all-time high, Joe Rogan showcasing his spiritual openness, “Trump dances” trending in the NFL, tech billionaires proudly attending the inauguration, businesses shutting down DEI departments, Meta firing fact checkers, and more. But why is all of this happening? Did the progressive movement become a victim of its own success? And how should Christians react? Does this new cultural vibe shift present more opportunities for spreading the Gospel? Will a more shallow version of “cultural Christianity” begin to rise? Listen now! "Joyful Outsiders" is available now! Learn more, read a sample chapter, and grab your own copy here. Note: This episode is from our previous podcast, Truth Over Tribe. ToT Archive - Embrace the Cringe: What Comes After Postmodernism? with Paul Anleitner
“A period of cultural change is commencing.” That’s what Paul Anleitner recently posted on X. But what cultural vibe shift is he referencing? Have we come to the end of postmodernism? Paul joins Patrick on the pod today to discuss our new metamodernism moment. Paul is a writer, theologian of culture, podcast host, and pastor. He begins by explaining the progression from modernism to postmodernism, and how the 1990s ushered in a level of cynicism and suspicion that’s remained until just recently. He then explains how he’s observed a newer metamodern vibe shift: the exhaustion of cynicism, the failure of postmodernism, the myth of secular progressivism, and the crisis of meaning that’s led to a sincere desire for authenticity. Providing examples such as Creed and Ted Lasso, he explains why he believes our culture is ready to “embrace the cringe.” But what does a new metamodern era look like? And what opportunities does this metamodern moment open up for Christians? Listen now! "Joyful Outsiders" is available now! Learn more, read a sample chapter, and grab your own copy here.
