Ep. 23 Lisa Honiball - Encouraging Others To Follow Their Dreams

I loved talking with Lisa about making the leap to business ownership and encouraging others to make a change. She is such a supportive soul that wants to see other people win!

Lisa Honiball is an established interior designer, and founder of an online membership for Interior Designers, with over 12 years of experience in the UK Interior Design Industry.

Lisa's mission is to connect interior designers to their full potential, and to each other. She offers courses, consultancy, and community, through the Interior Design Insiders platform. It's expert advice with an abundance of cheerleading!

Lisa made the scary jump from a corporate job to life as an Interior Designer in 2011. And, amongst all the surprised faces, and comments like “is that a real job?”, and “are you sure that’s a good idea?”,  made it work – beautifully. She says "It takes a leap of faith to start something new – especially into an industry that can feel so closed off and secretive. I faced my fair share of challenges, and a lack of support, starting out. I wanted things to be different, to see a change in the interior design industry, and that's ultimately what let to me founding Interior Design Insiders."

Jill McClennen - Certified Death Doula, bringing peace

I was so grateful to have the opportunity to talk to Jill. Hearing how her life pivots brought her to a career of helping people through their fears of dying and losing people they love. I think we can all benefit from hearing from Jill! Let me know what you think of this episode.

Jill McClennen is a certified death doula, a non-medical professional specially trained to provide holistic care for individuals in their final stages of life. She offers comprehensive support, preparation, and deep soul healing to her clients and their families, whether in person or through virtual sessions, as she works as a death doula and end-of-life coach.

In her virtual practice, Jill helps people prepare themselves and their loved ones for the end of life, offering guidance and emotional support, regardless of physical distance.

In addition to her role as a death doula, Jill is a trauma-sensitive yoga instructor. She also incorporates reiki and shamanic healing techniques to help clients address their fears surrounding death, cope with the dying process, and navigate their grief.

Jill is also the host of the "Seeing Death Clearly" podcast, available on all major podcast platforms. Through her podcast, she talks with guests and they share valuable insights and stories related to end-of-life matters, further extending her mission to promote understanding and compassion about this important stage of life.

Jill's journey into the world of death doula work began when she moved back to New Jersey from California to care for her 90-year-old grandmother during her final days. Faced with the challenges of her grandmother's impending passing, she felt confused and overwhelmed. She didn't know what to expect, and the process was unfamiliar to her. Today, Jill assists families in similar situations, helping them navigate the end-of-life journey with compassion and understanding.

Jenell Jones - It Only Takes One Person to Inspire You to Change Your Life

I had such a great conversation with Jenell today. She has reinvigorated me to get more involved in our community and our youth. Knowing how much impact her guidance counselor in college had on her is so amazing, it gave me goosebumps! After just being in survival mode for most of her young life she made a major pivot that changed the future for her and her daughter forever!! You are going to want to hear this!

Jenell is a seasoned solo RV traveler, taking to the open road with enthusiasm and purpose. With her hands firmly on the wheel of a 36-foot RV, she is no stranger to the challenges and joys of solo traveling.

In Jenell's former life, she was a Major for a South Florida Law Enforcement agency.

Mandi Pratt - Created her own plot twist by becoming her own hero and reclaiming confidence

I loved speaking with Mandi! She had a wild life-altering change and instead of living in fear she decided to dive into being a trained domestic violence advocate. She empowers women through teaching self-defense in person and on her podcast. Such a great conversation!

Feeling vulnerable, anxious, and having no hope for the future is a horrible feeling. I remember feeling that way when the FBI showed up at my door to alert me that my soon-to-be-ex was wanted for multiple bank robberies. I had to learn quickly how to use my intuition and newly learned self-defense skills to protect myself and my young son. I created my own plot twist by becoming my own hero and reclaiming confidence to feel more empowered and build a hopeful future for myself and my son. I am a trained domestic violence victim advocate and expert speaker passionate about ensuring our youth don’t end up in a situation like mine. I help audiences avoid my same experiences and instead empower them to enjoy a peaceful future.

Dr. Catalina Lawsin PhD - Bliss is an Absolute Birth Right

Dr. Cataline Lawsin was such a joy to chat with! She is so much fun and has so much wisdom when it comes to putting yourself first and navigating change! I hope that you find so much value in today's episode!

Being a clinical psychologist, researcher, and professor in the field of sexual health over the last 2 decades, I’ve learned that true, authentic, pure intimacy and connection is not only what we all long for, it’s essential for our overall wellness. It is a basic human need. Connecting to our own primal needs and desires, and allowing ourselves to be everything of ourselves with another person ultimately deepens our knowing of self and who we are at the most genuine level. Yet somehow expressing this basic need has become shameful. For something so essential to our existence as a species, it is unsettling that such a sacred topic is considered too taboo to speak of openly. I believe that by embracing and prioritizing our sexuality, we can break free from expectations and experience the transformation of holistic healing. It’s time we got real about the reality of sexuality. Because I believe that regardless of who we love or where we came from, exponential bliss is our absolute birthright.

Chelsea Peterson - Modern Agent Turned Modern CEO

I was so looking forward to chatting with Chelsea. I have been following her since day one of getting my real estate license. She is so creative and inspiring! She took the brave leap from active agent to helping agents show up for their clients in a personal and unforgettable way. Chelsea created her dream business while still working full-time, she knows a lot about the "in-between" pivot phase. I think you will find a lot of great insight in the episode, Enjoy!

"Creativity & marketing were my true passion & I wanted to reach other agents who felt just like me! To be able to tell them YOU CAN DO THIS YOUR OWN WAY! You don’t have to follow some cookie-cutter, soul-sucking (cold calling/door knocking) way to success! You can attract all the business you need in order to be successful by doing ONE. SIMPLE. THING. - BEING YOURSELF! So here I am today - the Modern Life REALTOR. I have a community that has grown to 7,000 agents & a monthly membership teaching agents how to stand out online! Kimberly Sauceda - Build Bridges. Inspire others to do the same.

I loved chatting with Kimberly today! She is such a brave and courageous leader. I think there is so much inspiration in hearing from someone that built a successful 20-year career and then walked away when it no longer served her. She made the pivot to help others not have to endure the same grind that she went through to build a career. She has a passion for helping people and corporations work together in a way that is healthy and sustainable. I hope you find inspiration here today!

For 20 years, I worked as a Marketing Leader at top-tier companies like Logitech and Apple and now as an Executive Coach for organizations including Silicon Valley Leadership Group, Stanford, NextDoor, NVIDIA, and more. In that time, I've learned the key to success – from product launches to team synergy to individual growth and fulfillment – is authenticity to build trust, respect, and connection with others. Listen with curiosity and openness. This creates solid bonds with others that enable incredible results. Grab her book here https://fromo2u.com/book

Dani Sticka - Your Body Will Speak to You, But You Have to be Willing to Listen

In today's episode, I get the chance to chat with Dani Sticka. She tells me all about how her body forced her into a pivot. I was blown away by her resilience and her ability to acknowledge that what she was doing was not working. I think so many people are going to be able to relate to this one!

A little more about Dani:

I'm a professional home organizer who believes in letting go of perfection and embracing a simpler life through home organization. During my own personal health journey and finding peace with less, I created Imperfectly Tidy to help others let go too. I believe organizing is so much more than pretty bins and boxes. Your systems need to work for you, not the other way around.

I also enjoy helping Realtors ® and their clients who are moving or downsizing, let go of items in a simple and gentle way to enhance their listing and develop the skills to keep their new home clutter-free for a lifetime.
