Having alienated Lady Linfriga's champion, her hospitality is so meager that the Heroes forgo it. Instead, Cenred and Gwylog visit the village's captives while Ceri and Branwen approach the Hall's top table by *very *different routes. Cenred deploys his trademark patter while Gwylog finally snaps and imposes his will on the captives' lying leader. Meanwhile, as conversation in the Hall gets interesting ... the screaming begins as fragments of an ill-used spirit are vomited onto the ground.
